Beast Taming: Becoming a Bug-type Elite Four Member Starting with Silkworm Raising

Chapter 160 Unexpected NewsChapter 160 Unexpected News

After being blessed by the shadow priest with the beast control talent skill, the speed of the shadow of death skyrocketed, turning into a ghost that Ayou could not catch and attacking Russell.

There is no sound of breaking wind, and no feeling of chopping.

Russell only felt a dark wind blowing past him, and the iron net that had been split in half instantly shattered and was thrown to the side like a piece of rotten iron.

grumble……

”So sad……”

As the iron net shattered, Xiao Qi also let out a muffled groan, as if he had been traumatized.

Although Miracle Mucus is a defensive skill, the mucus that has been spit out of the body has essentially nothing to do with the pet beast itself.

Logically speaking, even if the shield was chopped into pieces, Xiao Qi shouldn’t have any reaction.

Sensing that something was wrong, Russell quickly checked its status.

Sure enough, with a little more concentration, he saw a negative state called ”Death Coil” in Xiao Qi’s message.

Death Coil: Being corroded by the breath of death, energy and life will continue to be lost, and all recovery capabilities will be reduced by 30%.

Needless to say, this abnormal state that can continuously burn blood and blue, and also hinder the recovery of pet beasts, is the effect of the shadow priest’s beast control talent.

I don’t know if this group of cult members even sacrificed and reset their beast-controlling talents, but they actually matched them with the Shadow of Death.

The strong breath of death could even corrode lifeless mucus and iron sand, and then was transmitted to Xiao Qi’s body.

Fortunately, while Russell withstood a slash from the Shadow of Death, Ayou also successfully threw the Nether Explosion at Russell’s cell phone and the emergency button.

Om————!
As a powerful ghost-type energy group swept across the ground, the two pieces of communication equipment exploded into pieces.

At the same time, harsh warning sounds sounded around Liang Kun, who was sleeping in the insect house a few hundred meters away, and Chen Nong, who was patrolling in the next block.

”No, something happened! Let’s go to the Chongwu House immediately for support!”

Hearing the beeping sound coming from the pager on his waist, Chen Nong reacted quickly and immediately sent messages to several other teammates who were on duty tonight.

After all, Russell is a talent that Dr. Xia Mu specially told to focus on. It is said that he has participated in several operations carried out in cooperation with the Longquan City Alliance Headquarters.

He is related to the Senluo City Beast Control Research Institute and the garrison. It is not an exaggeration to say that Russell is half a relative in front of the Senluo City officials.

Moreover, Chen Nong clearly saw that what came from the pager just now was an equipment damage warning, not an ordinary alarm.

Generally, people who use this method to ask for help encounter some emergency situations and cannot even make a normal phone call or press a button.

If something happened to Russell within his own jurisdiction, then all the credit he took to contract with Candle Shadow Moth and work the night shift every day would be in vain.

Because he was eager to save people, Chen Nong blew a bone whistle hanging around his neck without waiting for his teammates to gather.

A few seconds later, a huge owl with dark brown fur and an extra eye on its forehead flew down from the roof not far away.

This is the mount pet distributed by the Beast Control Alliance to the security personnel. It is a silver-level ordinary pet beast, the three-eyed owl.

The three-eyed cat hawk is not very powerful in combat, but it has many practical skills such as silent flight, enhanced vision, night vision, and echo detection.

Moreover, they are relatively large among avian pets and are large enough for an adult to ride, so they have become one of the most commonly used riding pets by night patrol personnel.

These three-eyed owls distributed by the alliance have been domesticated in animal pens since they were young. They are extremely familiar with humans and can obey orders without the need for a contract.

Turning over and climbing onto the leather saddle behind the three-eyed owl, Chen Nong blew the whistle twice more.

Upon hearing this special instruction, the well-trained three-eyed owl immediately flapped its wings and flew quietly in the direction of the insect house.

”...Do you really want to die?”

Unexpectedly, Russell took advantage of his inattention and found an opportunity to call the police. The shadow priest’s voice became particularly cold.

His original mission was indeed to bring Russell back to the camp as intact as possible. Who knew this kid was so disrespectful.

Most of the peace officers in the beast-control world are intermediate-level beast masters or above. If they travel at full speed, they can reach them within a few minutes from a distance of one or two kilometers.

Realizing that he had been tricked, the shadow priest really had murderous intentions.

”Cut off his head.”

Dodging Dao Lang’s chops again, he coldly gave the final order to the shadow of death.

After receiving the order, the shadow of death, which no longer held back, once again transformed into a black shadow that could not be locked, and attacked Russell, who had just replenished the new mucus shield.

It wielded a scythe with a strong aura of death in its hand, and almost every slash could cut off most of the shield Xiao Qi had propped up.

If this kind of flyby that was difficult to distinguish with the naked eye could not be continued continuously, giving Xiao Qi some time to breathe, Russell might really have lost his head.

But even so, in the face of the continuous attack of this top-level assassination beast, Russell was obviously unable to withstand it.

grumble……

”There is no more iron sand...”

When the shadow of death faded into darkness again, Xiao Qi sent an anxious message to Russell.

After fighting for a short while, there was still plenty of mucus in its body, but the mixed substance Russell carried with him had been completely used up.

Relying on a good mixture of materials, Xiao Qi, who was only at level , was able to block several attacks from level pet beasts.

However, if there are no suitable materials and simply use mucus to build a shield, then even if Xiao Qi grows to the same level as the Death Shadow, he will definitely not be an opponent.

This is the biggest drawback of the Miracle Slime skill.

”MD...fight hard!”

Seeing that the Fire Thieves were so unscrupulous in their actions and were always ready to kill people, Russell also became angry.

”Ayou, you also attack the opponent’s beastmaster!”

Seeing that Ayou had no way to deal with the blessed shadow of death, he simply gave up on protecting himself and chose a style of play that looked like he would die with the shadow priest.

jiji-!
”Xiao Qi also fought hard and tried his best to protect his master!”

Feeling Russell’s fighting spirit, Xiao Qi also became excited.

He rarely climbed out of Russell’s pocket, lay on his shoulder and used his miracle slime skill.

The moment Xiao Qi overcame his fear, the reminder message of the ”Cocoon of Evolution” talent came to Russell’s mind for a long time:

”This insect-type pet has established a bond with you and wants to fight powerful enemies with you. Do you want to send soul energy to it?”

In such desperate times, anything that can enhance combat effectiveness is naturally desirable, and Russell chose ”yes” without hesitation. The next moment, milky white energy threads stretched out from Russell’s palm, injecting gentle soul energy into Xiao Qi’s body.

Moisturized by the energy threads, Xiao Qi’s original weak state was immediately improved, and the mucus shield released seemed to become much thicker.

The shadow of death slashed down again with a scythe. Not only was the layer of brown candy-like mucus not easily cut through, it even sucked in part of the ghost energy on the scythe.

After absorbing the energy from the enemy’s attack, the gap opened by the slime shield healed a little, taking on a special semi-energy form.

Under this ebb and flow, the attack effect of the shadow of death is getting worse and worse, and the threat to Russell is naturally greatly reduced.

At the same time, some changes have also occurred in Xiao Qi’s ability development column, but Russell is currently very nervous and has not bothered to check it yet.

Our own protective beasts tried their best to defend against the attack of the shadow of death, and the pressure suddenly came to the shadow priest.

…………

After receiving the order, Ayou flapped his wings and flew directly in its direction, and took the lead in throwing a few shadow arrows at it.

Like the Shadow of Death, the Shadow Charm is a pet beast whose body is almost entirely made of shadows. The same applies to the spiritual Shadow Priest.

Moreover, humans are much less powerful than pet beasts.

If he was hit by a shadow-stitching arrow, it might take more than four or five seconds for him to break free.

Such a long time is enough for Ayou to charge up a wave of Netherworld Explosion.

Transformation into a spirit body can only increase the physical saving throw effect and has almost no effect on energy attacks. Even if the opponent is a mid-level fourth-level beast master, he will die miserably if he is hit by a nether explosion head-on.

”...Didn’t the intelligence say that this guy’s main business is cultivation?”

He barely dodged a few shadow arrows at an extreme distance, and even the shadow priest was frightened by Russell’s sudden ferocity.

As a fourth-level beast master, he has been overwhelming Russell with his stronger strength and advantages in pet beast configuration, but this does not mean that he can completely ignore Russell’s attacks.

In addition, the opponent’s protective pet beast, which was still a cub, was able to block the shadow of death for so long. The shadow priest, who felt that things were out of control, couldn’t help but want to give up.

The Fire Stealing Group has fought against the Beast Mastering Alliance not once or twice. He clearly knows that the alliance’s security department has many methods that can block space or isolate energy fluctuations.

If he was surrounded by patrols coming from nearby, he might not be able to leave safely.

”You will regret it if you go against the Fire Thieves...”

With a harsh word, the shadow priest flew back with the shadow of death and quickly disappeared into the night.

However, Russell’s expression did not relax immediately.

After all, the Fire Pirates were an organization that focused on being despicable and shameless. In order to prevent the other party from suddenly retaliate, he did not dare to slack off at all.

Staring at the direction in which the shadow priest left, Russell still stood under the streetlight without moving, and kept feeding energy to Xiao Qi so that he could maintain a semi-energized mucus shield.

It wasn’t until the piercing siren sounded in the distance that Russell finally breathed a sigh of relief.

”Did that infiltrator just attack you?”

As an experienced police officer, Chen Nong only took a brief glance at the scene and immediately realized that a fierce battle had just occurred here.

”It’s the Fire Stealing Group. Contact Dr. Xiamu immediately...”

After experiencing a battle where the consequences of a slight mistake were disastrous, Russell, who was still in shock, felt his feet weak and held on to the lamppost and said to Chen Nong.

Fortunately, from the analysis of the shadow priest’s strength and attitude towards him, Russell already had some basic judgments about today’s attack.

First of all, it can be ruled out that they want to hijack themselves for the ”Cocoon of Evolution” talent.

If the Fire Thieves really learned about the function of the ”Cocoon of Evolution” talent through some means and wanted to imprison Russell as a breeder of insect-type beasts, they would not be able to destroy him at every turn.

After all, this kind of cultivation talent needs to be used frequently to fully exert its effect, and using the beast control talent requires a lot of energy and physical strength.

If the beast master suffers a serious injury and is in poor physical condition, the efficiency of using his talents will be greatly reduced.

However, the shadow priest did say that he wanted Russell to work for the Fire Thieves, which confused him very much.

Apart from the ”Cocoon of Evolution” talent, Russell really felt that he had nothing worth remembering.

In terms of combat prowess, he is at best a rising star, but he is far from being robbed by major forces.

In terms of economic strength, there is still a big gap between him and those veteran entrepreneurs, and the cost-effectiveness of kidnapping is not high.

A small businessman who has just started in a second-tier city, currently only has the strength of a gym badge. How can he be useful to a large evil organization like the Fire Stealing Group?

”Dr. Natsuki wants to talk to you.”

Just when Russell was struggling, Chen Nong directed his men to seal off the scene and collect evidence while handing him his cell phone.

After answering the phone and talking to Dr. Natsuki for a few words, Russell’s frown relaxed a little.

According to the latest news received by the Senluo City Beast Controlling Alliance, in the past few days, many beast control masters who are good at cultivating insect-type beasts have disappeared in the cities near the Black Dew Forest.

Judging from the traces left at the scene, these people were all abducted by the Shadow Order.

This at least shows that the Fire Stealing Group only needs to use abilities related to the insect system, rather than targeting Russell.

”...A large number of talented people related to the insect system were hijacked. Is it because of that secret realm?”

After briefly thinking about the connection between the Fire Stealing Group and the insect system, Russell immediately recalled the entrance to the ruins he saw in the dense forest camp last time.

”Although the Fire Thieves are full of evil, they rarely act in such a high-profile manner. The alliance speculates that this is the reason. Only the interests of a large secret realm can make them make such a desperate move.”

On the other end of the phone, Dr. Natsuki confirmed Russell’s conjecture.

There may not be many professional beast masters with insect-related beast control talents, but in the breeding and business circles, these people are somewhat famous.

Abducting several people at once who would be discovered immediately after disappearing proves that what the Fire Stealing Group needs to do has reached the point where there is no need to delay.
Otherwise, judging from their patience in lying dormant for several years, they could slowly create disappearances in batches or instigate rebellion. This would also avoid angering the Beast Control Alliance and being rounded up.

”Last time you and Turandot found out the news about the core camp of the Fire Pirates, they probably haven’t grasped it yet. The alliance headquarters in Longquan City is preparing to launch a raid as soon as possible. I will notify you separately when the time comes.”

Dr. Natsuki seemed to have a lot of urgent matters to deal with, so he hung up the phone in a hurry.

Russell was originally a little reluctant to participate in a dangerous large-scale field operation.

However, in the past few months, the Fire Thief Group has been planning attacks and interfering in the capture of ferocious beasts, and now they are arrogantly coming to the city to kidnap people at will.

He almost fell into the hands of the Fire Pirates several times, which really made him anxious.

Thinking of being able to severely beat those lunatics, Russell actually looked forward to the recent encirclement and suppression operations of the Beast Control Alliance.
