Beast Taming: Becoming a Bug-type Elite Four Member Starting with Silkworm Raising

Chapter 127 CarbineChapter 127 Back to the Carbine

”...Are you sure we want to continue walking into the forest?”

After walking in the dark forest for more than an hour, Russell asked Turandot with a speechless face.

Just five minutes ago, he discovered that the surrounding trees were getting denser and denser. The three dragon snakes did not crawl out of the forest at all, but continued to move towards the core of the Black Dew Forest.

”Well, the members of the Fire Stealing Group should be paying close attention to the location where the battle is taking place, and they must think that we are retreating outside the forest. The most dangerous place is actually the safest place.”

Hearing this, Turandot turned his face and explained to Russell seriously.

I have to say that this reason sounds quite good and it is difficult to refute it.

But thinking about it carefully, Russell always felt that something was not right.

With Turandot’s strength, as long as she acted carefully, the less powerful members of the Fire Thieves seemed to have little chance of stopping her.

The most likely explanation for why Turandot chose to go in the opposite direction is:
Even though she had just experienced a dangerous battle and almost paid a heavy price, she was still most concerned about the tasks assigned by the Beast Control Alliance.

Rolling his eyes helplessly, Russell now only felt that the young legendary beast master in front of him was a crazy woman.

As the saying goes, geniuses are on the left and madmen are on the right. Are geniuses really all madmen?

”The Shadow Priest is a mid-level profession of the Fire Thief Group. His disappearance will definitely arouse the Fire Thief Group’s vigilance. It is very likely that they will directly move the scope of their activities or set up more obstacles to avoid tracking. Now is the best chance to find their base camp.”

Seeing Russell’s reluctance, Turandot explained to him again.

As a new legendary beast master with outstanding strength, she really does not need to work too hard in exchange for official recognition from the Beast Control Alliance.

If high-level beast masters are the core of the principality’s combat power, then legendary beast masters are strategic weapons.

If you can pass the legendary level assessment at the age of 30 or , even if you don’t serve the Beast Taming Alliance, you can still get a lot of resources.

She was so desperate because she really wanted to investigate the actions of the Fire Thieves and prepare for the subsequent counterattack and encirclement.

The Fire Thieves were doing evil everywhere, and naturally it affected more than just the Black Dew Forest. Turandot’s hometown had experienced a beast wave deliberately caused by the Fire Thieves, so she also had a deep hatred for the Fire Thieves.

Otherwise, Turandot would not leave a bunch of low-risk, well-paid jobs and come here to stir up this muddy water.

The Shadow Order once occupied half of the Holy Court of Hope. Many of the core technologies and cultivation methods of the Fire Stealing Group came from the documents that the Shadow Order took away when they defected. Therefore, the remnants of this organization must also have a core position within the Fire Thieving Group.

Therefore, this beast master with the shadow of death has most likely visited the Fire Thieves’ stronghold in the Black Dew Forest.

Snake beasts have a well-developed sense of smell. As a high-level pet beast, the three-headed dragon snake occasionally plays the role of a scent tracker and is fully capable of doing so.

It is not difficult to find the place where he once stayed by relying on the big living person in his hand that exudes smell at all times.

Following the scent of this shadow cult priest’s scent, they gradually developed something different.

That is, there seem to be a lot of insect beasts here.

In just ten minutes’ journey, Russell saw hundreds of insect-type pet beasts.

There are a group of flying insects on the left, a group of beetles on the right, and there are many spider webs among the branches overhead, making people feel as if they have entered the kingdom of insects.

With the experience accumulated during this period of feeding insect beasts, Russell felt that something was obviously wrong.

Logically speaking, even if insect-type pet beasts are widely distributed and have strong reproductive capabilities, they will not be so numerous.

After all, nature will automatically maintain ecological balance. One insect doesn’t eat much food, but the consumption of surrounding resources by thousands of insect-type pet beasts is no less than that of a large group of beasts.

When there is not enough food to eat and the territory is not divided enough, the weakest pet beasts will be eliminated, and the number of insects in this area will naturally decrease and eventually remain at a balance point.

The fact that such a dense group of insect-type beasts can be gathered deep in the forest illustrates a problem from the side:
This area contains enough food and energy sources to sustain them.

As soon as this thought arose, Russell immediately thought of Hei Lu.

In other words, it is an energy source that can overflow black dew all over the forest and possess an astonishing amount of energy.

The information revealed by Turandot before also said that in the in-depth and detailed analysis of the black dew, the energy fluctuations of the ghost and insect systems were indeed discovered, which corresponded to the phenomenon of the gathering of insect beasts.

Seeing this situation, Russell quickly activated his ”Cocoon of Evolution” talent and asked about the pet beasts he encountered one by one.

It’s a pity that the nearby insect beasts are of low level, and their weak intelligence cannot carry much memory.

Apart from asking some answers such as ”There is a lot of energy here and it is very comfortable to stay”, which confirmed the speculation just now, Russell did not get any more useful information.

”Don’t just ask for information. Control the black cloud flies and other pets and let them help cover up the smell on us.”

After receiving the feedback from the three dragon snakes and realizing that they had arrived at an area where the residual aura of strange humans was denser, Turandot suddenly turned around and said to Russell.

”...This is another price!”

In this regard, Russell could only be speechless and added another huge amount to the reward owed to him by the Beast Control Alliance.

Although he was also very interested in the insect-type energy source, everything that happened today, including the current behavior of going back deep into the forest, really went far beyond the scope of ordinary translation work.

If Russell hadn’t been able to cross the forest, he would have run back to Senluo City alone regardless of the alliance’s commission.

With the talent of ”Cocoon of Evolution”, as long as Russell can survive and develop, it will be a matter of time before he becomes a strong player. There is no need to rush forward like this.

Fortunately, Turandot repeatedly emphasized that it was just to confirm the location and would never conflict with the Fire Thieves. This made Russell feel relieved.

…………

In the darkness, the two of them moved deeper into the forest for several hours, until the sky turned white, and Russell finally saw some different scenes ahead.

Next to a swamp that can be seen from time to time in a dark forest, there are figures walking back and forth in several simple cabins.

Around the swamp, along the edge of the mud and soil, there are several small radar-like machines placed.

Russell recognized those devices, which were the ”energy synchronization devices” used by the Senluo City Cultivation Research Institute to prevent spies from stealing energy fluctuation data.

As a high-end version of energy shielding devices, they will not make the simple mistake of simply shielding, but instead forming an energy vacuum zone on the detection map.

Energy synchronization devices can simulate the most common energy fluctuations in the surrounding environment. Putting several energy synchronization devices together can cover up special energy fluctuations within a range.

Conventional energy detection methods make it almost impossible to detect such disguises.

Corresponding to the powerful effect, this very sophisticated equipment is expensive to build. The reason why the Fire Thieves spent so many resources in a seemingly ordinary swamp is easy to figure out——

Under that peaceful swamp, there was something that they valued very much.
