Apocalyptic Wasteland Simulator

Chapter 250 - 245: Brain-eating Worm
[As one of the leaders of the giant Insect Race, the Brain-eating Worm slowly moved toward a human corpse. It opened its ugly and ferocious mouthparts, easily piercing the human skull. As it sucked the brain pulp into its mouth, it let out a pleasurable roar.][You suddenly leap up from the ground, slicing off the Brain-eating Worm’s feeding mouthparts. Your followers also spring into action, rushing towards the nearby guardian worker bugs and successfully delaying them.]

[The Brain-eating Worm tried to escape, but you were one step ahead and blocked its path. As it looked at you with intelligent eyes, you summoned the Purple Parasitic Seed and threatened it. You demanded it open its mouth, or your laser gun would pierce its head.]

[Forced by your might, the Brain-eating Worm reluctantly swallowed the Purple Parasitic Seed.]

”Woohoo!”

Chen Pingchuan had just opened his mouth to celebrate when the subsequent simulated information left him stunned.

[You discovered a flaw in the Parasitic Seed: the Brain-eating Worm can ignore its effects. In the moment you were distracted while sensing the seed, the worm suddenly retreated.]

[Through your divine intuition, you realized the problem. The upper limit of a Purple Parasitic Seed should be controlling creatures of Purple-grade, or at most one grade higher, which would be Silver. However, this Brain-eating Worm was a Gold-template monster.]

[By the time you recovered, the Brain-eating Worm had already escaped through the hole. Your followers were held up by its guards and were unable to prevent its escape. You also realized how formidable the Brain-eating Worm’s guardian bugs were; just two or three of them could pin down one of your followers.]

[You felt regret for your carelessness. As a man determined to become a god, being outwitted by a bug was intolerable.]

[Soon, you paid the price for your mistake. Endless giant Scythe Insects, along with various other insect species, poured out from the hole the Brain-eating Worm had used to escape. Even the ground before the bank vault was torn open by Diamond Bugs, creating a second large hole.]

[You initially planned to hide back in the bank vault but immediately abandoned the idea when you noticed smaller Self-destruct Bugs. They had found the other end of the ventilation ducts and caused a small explosion inside the vault. The sound was clearly audible even through the sturdy door.]

[Misfortunes struck one after another. You discovered your Bloodthirsty Plunder skill was ineffective against these giant bugs.]

”What the hell!”

Chen Pingchuan suddenly recalled a news report. The locals called these creatures Giant Corpse Worms, meaning they weren’t living creatures. Yet, this didn’t make sense.

He remembered using the ”Master Thief” skill on a Diamond Bug before, which meant they had to be lifeforms. However, they weren’t typical flesh-and-blood creatures; they lacked conventional biological structures like a circulatory system or flesh. His powerful ”Bloodthirsty Plunder” skill was rendered useless here.

His already difficult situation had just gone from bad to worse. Chen Pingchuan lost all hope of escaping Hantan City. His only way out was the teleporter, but its cooldown was frustratingly long.

[The provocation of the giant Corpse Worms successfully triggered your Anger Trait. You experienced a power-up, leading your newly recruited followers as you slaughtered a path to the bank’s entrance.]

[You overcame numerous obstacles and reached the bank’s entrance without a single casualty. You successfully opened the main doors, but the scene outside was a shocking and eerily familiar sight.]

[Looking at the swarm of insects blotting out the sky, you were reminded of the Black Demon tide covering the ground. A wicked thought took root in your heart: If I could control both of these swarms, devouring the world would no longer be a fantasy. I am destined to become the god who destroys worlds.]

???

”What are you talking about?” Chen Pingchuan demanded. ”Devouring the world? Destroying the world?

”I’m doing just fine, why would I destroy the world? And what happened to the promised Apocalypse Redemption Simulator? Not only did you fail to stop the apocalypse, but now you’re trying to make me into the final boss?

”Simulator, are you out of your goddamn mind?”

Chen Pingchuan retorted furiously. He had thought he was invincible, that nothing could faze him anymore. How naive he’d been.

Call him selfish, shortsighted, or whatever else—he could accept all of that. But destroying the world? That was one thing he would never accept.

He’d always found the villains in movies, novels, and anime to be complete morons. Destroy the world for what? What do you do when there’s nothing left? If you want to die, just die alone. If you don’t want to see people, is it that hard to just lock yourself away?

”Forget it. Stupid simulator. I’m not listening.”

Chen Pingchuan decided to see how his divine self would operate in the simulation and if there was any chance of escape.

[You weren’t given much time to reflect. The swarm of bugs charged toward you and your allies. Realizing the dire situation, you tried to retreat back into the bank, but several giant Diamond Bugs suddenly appeared and blocked your escape.]

[Knowing there was no room to maneuver, you unleashed astonishing combat power. Aided by your Anger Trait, you used the Master Thief skill on the most threatening Corpse Worms while simultaneously summoning several Parasitic Seeds into your palm.]

[As you swung your laser sword to slash open the Corpse Worms’ solid carapaces, you deftly inserted the Parasitic Seeds inside. Perhaps because the Corpse Worms had simple minds, they quickly became your puppets.]

[Your incredible tactics stunned Lilia and the others. At that moment, they truly believed you were a Divine Envoy sent to cleanse the world of its sins. By continuously parasitizing the giant Corpse Worms to use as your vanguard, you fought a running battle for several hours, finally reaching the city walls of Hantan City.] ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ꜰʀᴏᴍ ????????????????????✶????????????????✶????????????

[Contrary to what you imagined, the area was dead silent, with no sign of any military presence. Wei Hao used his Telekinesis to help everyone leap smoothly onto the city wall, where you discovered the ground was covered in bloodstains.]

[Even though the stone bricks were stained red with blood, there wasn’t a single human corpse to be found. You immediately thought of the Brain-eating Worm. You were certain it was the leader of this giant Corpse Worm swarm, which meant that catching it was the key to solving this predicament.]

[You continued using the same method and headed back toward the bank, planning to find the Brain-eating Worm through the large hole inside. The process was smooth, but you began to worry as your supply of Parasitic Seeds was being depleted at an alarming rate.]

”You can do that?”

Whether it was a case of the person involved being blind to the obvious or something else, Chen Pingchuan felt that even with his intelligence partially restored, he could never replicate the brilliant maneuvers of his divine self.
