Apocalyptic Wasteland Simulator

Chapter 209 - 204 Ripples
Wei Xi stared at Chen Pingchuan’s back, her eyes red with frustration. She balled her hand into a fist and pounded it heavily against him.The blow made Chen Pingchuan lurch forward, his steps faltering for a moment. But he quickly regained his balance as if nothing had happened and continued to leisurely savor the pastry in his hand. His relaxed, unbothered demeanor was infuriating to behold.

Wei Xi felt a throbbing ache deep in her lower body, like fine needles pricking her nerves again and again. Clenching her teeth, she glared at Chen Pingchuan’s broad, sturdy back. The sight of his smooth, firm muscles only made the fury inside her burn hotter.

Suddenly, as if driven by some unseen force, she lowered her head and bit down hard on his back.

HISS...

Pain lanced through Chen Pingchuan, shattering the lonely world he had been immersed in. He furrowed his brows. Gently, he patted Wei Xi’s head, afraid of hurting her in the slightest, and teased, ”Stop biting, stop biting. Are you a puppy, going around biting people?”

However, whether his touch was too gentle or her resentment ran too deep, Wei Xi showed no sign of letting go.

Time seemed to freeze. Not until bright red blood trickled down from his shoulder blade and began to soak his clothes did Wei Xi finally release her bite.

Chen Pingchuan turned his head, his expression cold, ready to lash out at her. But when his gaze met Wei Xi’s tear-soaked eyes, which were brimming with indignation and anger, the rage that had just surged within him was instantly extinguished, as if doused by a bucket of cold water.

He sighed helplessly, a bitter smile touching his lips as he said softly, ”I’m sorry.”

In Chen Pingchuan’s mind, you had to own your mistakes and face the consequences.

”Do you know why I bit you?” Wei Xi asked, a sob in her voice. She tried to put on an arrogant front, but her trembling lips and the reddened tip of her nose betrayed her vulnerability.

Chen Pingchuan watched her quietly without speaking. He knew Wei Xi didn’t need a response; she just needed a chance to vent.

Sure enough, she continued on her own. ”I don’t need your apology.

”Because you didn’t sleep with me. *I* slept with *you*. Got it?

”And I bit you to leave a mark, a reminder for the rest of your life that you owe me!”

Chen Pingchuan’s eyes flickered like distant, cold stars in the night sky.

Opposite him, the naked Wei Xi’s eyes burned just as brightly. Her gaze was like a raging fire, yet it failed to completely hide the panic within. As they locked eyes, the air seemed to freeze. A profound silence spread between them.

He keenly sensed the vulnerability beneath her fierce exterior. And she, in turn, saw the look of utter desolation in his eyes, as if nothing in the world mattered to him anymore. In this silent confrontation, they both perceived the fragility in each other’s souls.

Suddenly, Chen Pingchuan broke the suffocating stalemate.

He opened his arms and pulled Wei Xi’s soft, delicate body into a tight, irresistible embrace. At first, she instinctively struggled, her body squirming in his hold as she tried to escape the sudden confinement. But his arms were like iron bands. Gradually, she gave up the struggle, and her tense body slowly went slack.

The searing heat from his body washed over her like a tide, and a wave of warmth rushed through her heart. As if guided by an unseen force, her slender hands slid from his hips up to the small of his back. They stood there, locked in an embrace, as if time itself had stopped just for them.

RUMBLE...

A sound, starkly abrupt in the tranquil atmosphere, echoed from an unknown source.

Chen Pingchuan looked down at Wei Xi’s face, which was flushed like a ripe apple. He saw her burying her head deep in his chest, the picture of shyness. He couldn’t help but let out a soft chuckle. Completely ignoring their somewhat ambiguous situation, he wrapped his arms around her waist and lifted her securely. He then turned, sat on a nearby stool, and gently settled her onto his lap.

They were now so close they could feel each other’s breath. Chen Pingchuan picked up a delicate pastry from the table and slowly brought it to her cherry-like lips. ”’There we go,’ he coaxed softly.”

Wei Xi’s face turned an even deeper shade of red as she parted her lips, taking small bites of the food he offered. A breakfast that should have been a simple affair took a full half-hour to finish in the intimate atmosphere.

After breakfast, a strange warmth spread through them both, and an indescribable emotion began to blossom between their hearts...

When Chen Pingchuan drifted awake again, he found that it was already afternoon.

In his slumber, he had had an extremely peculiar dream. He had become a woman and had even carried a new life. The child seemed perpetually hungry, suckling at his chest relentlessly. The sensation was both strange and wonderful, and he was completely lost in it. In reality, he had never experienced dreams so vividly, and this sudden one left him feeling bewildered.

Suddenly, a slight pricking sensation, like a slender needle piercing the calm surface of the water, pulled him from the hazy dreamscape. He slowly opened his eyes and saw Wei Xi. Her expression was playful and lively, much like the adorable, innocent infant from his dream.

HISS...

Chen Pingchuan let out a soft, involuntary cry.

”What’s wrong?” Wei Xi asked with feigned concern, pretending she wasn’t the culprit.

He wasn’t annoyed in the slightest. He slowly raised a hand, his long fingers gently combing through Wei Xi’s glossy, ink-black hair. His eyes were full of adoration. ”You little rascal, why did you wake me up?”

He knew her action wasn’t accidental; she must have had a reason.

”Hee hee, you’re so smart.” Wei Xi beamed, her eyes crinkling with mirth. She looked adorable, but her next words made Chen Pingchuan’s mind go blank for a second.

”I’m leaving!”

His reason quickly reasserted itself, and he asked, ”Where are you going?”

”To work!”

”Do you have to go?”

”If I don’t work, are you going to support me?”
