Apocalyptic Wasteland Simulator

Chapter 139 - 134: Start Simulation! Divinity Self-Awakening
The recovery speed of my physical attributes is slightly slower than I expected, but the increase in simulation value has exceeded my expectations. It’s a trade-off, I suppose.Chen Pingchuan’s mind was racing as he calculated the day’s gains. Given the current trend, the next two days would be full of good news. He felt more and more certain that he had made the right decision. The simulation cooldown would end tomorrow night, and by the night after that, his physical attributes would be almost fully recovered. At the current rate he was earning simulation value, he could exchange for the temporarily stored talent tomorrow night. By combining it with his previously acquired ”Heaven Rewards Diligence” talent, he could probably reach the peak of Level 2, with all attributes maxed out, in less than a month. After all, apart from his strength, the room for improvement in his other physical attributes was... well, it was vast.

The future is looking more and more promising.

With this incredibly relaxed feeling, Chen Pingchuan quickly drifted off to sleep. The insomnia that had once plagued him vanished as if it were morning mist.

The next day, Chen Pingchuan awoke early. The moment he opened his eyes, they shone with an eager light. He swiftly dressed and, without a moment’s delay, strode towards the cafeteria. There was no trace of the procrastinating young man he used to be.

After breakfast, he embarked on his mining journey alone. That day, he was like an indefatigable spinning top. Aside from a short break for lunch, he spent all his time in the mine, swinging his pickaxe and sweating profusely. The continuous DING! DING! DING! of the simulator’s notifications was like an intoxicating wine, addicting him and sending constant signals of excitement to his brain.

That night, guided by the starlight, Chen Pingchuan dragged his exhausted body back to the dormitory. His body was heavy, but his spirit was content. He had not only gathered enough simulation value to redeem the talent but even had some to spare.

”Simulator, redeem the blue, upgradeable talent: Execute Heaven’s Will.”

[Ding! Successfully redeemed the temporarily stored talent.]

”Simulator, enter simulation.”

[Would you like to enter the simulation?]

Looking at the familiar azure light screen, Chen Pingchuan felt a sense of warmth. Although he was exhausted, he still forced himself to muster the energy for a simulation. He was worried about his safety; after all, discretion is the better part of valor. As a man with a system on his side, he had to be extra careful.

”Yes, enter simulation!”

[Please select the amount of simulation value to be consumed for this simulation.]

[Host has invested 1,000 simulation value.]

[Drawing a random reward...]

[Ding! Congratulations, you have acquired the Purple Skill, Bloodthirsty Plunder!]

[Bloodthirsty Plunder]: Purple Skill (Exclusive). Only a host possessing divinity can select this skill. It can be combined with the talent ’Heart of Destruction’ to form the ’Heart of the Demon God’. Every Demon God is a master of plunder.

Appearance Chance: 0.01%

Skill Effects:

Active: Upon activation, your appearance is enhanced. Your skin becomes wreathed in jaw-droppingly cool, blood-red flames. The flames deal low damage but have maximum style points. For a villain, looking cool is for life. Your strength also increases, and for every opponent you kill, you can absorb all of their energy to restore your stamina.

Passive: When you kill a higher-level enemy, you can randomly absorb one-half of their attribute values. When you kill a same-level enemy, you can randomly absorb one-fifth of their attribute values. When you kill a lower-level enemy, you can randomly absorb one-tenth of their attribute values.

P.S. You are now a mature Demon God. You should learn how to slaughter on your own. To you, numbers are meaningless; you only grow stronger with every kill.

Looking at the text on the light screen, Chen Pingchuan frowned. The simulator’s changes are becoming more and more frequent. Ever since I fainted last time, it doesn’t seem to be the same simple simulator anymore. Although the changes seem to be for the better... Having regained some of his intellect, Chen Pingchuan felt this might not necessarily be a good thing.

Can I really ever leave the simulator?

He was highly skeptical. With this doubt weighing on his mind, Chen Pingchuan began the simulation.

[In the morning, the warm sunlight awakens you. You jump out of bed, go to the washroom, and stare at your own ashen face in the mirror.]

[You are influenced by your increasingly lucid thoughts. Staring at yourself in the mirror, you feel a chill run down your spine. You, who have always thought of yourself as a Preparatory God, might just be the manifestation of someone else’s will.]

[This sudden realization leaves you so dejected that you don’t even go to the mine for your task today.]

[When Liu Haofeng and his friends, and even Feng Jiaqi, come looking for you, you send them away by saying you don’t feel well. As for the mine’s task assessor, he is only responsible for recording and grading your behavior; he has no authority to compel you.]

After just two lines of simulation text, Chen Pingchuan was stunned by the information on the screen. His brow furrowed tightly as he began to frantically speculate on its meaning.

My divine self has awakened... and it’s aware of my existence. Why is this happening? Is it because my intellect is sharpening as I regain the emotion of anger? And since it’s a reflection of me in the simulation, its own recovery speed might far exceed mine. Is this change good or bad for me?

Chen Pingchuan contemplated this silently for a moment before realizing: It doesn’t matter if it’s good or bad. I’ve already tried communicating with the simulator, and it’s impossible. Whether it’s pretending or it genuinely can’t, it means there’s nothing I can do about it. In that case, there’s no point in thinking about it any further. Continuing the simulation is the only way to find out.

After briefly organizing his thoughts, Chen Pingchuan continued the simulation.

[For an entire day, you do not take a single step out of the dormitory. You simply lie on your bed, staring blankly at the ceiling.]

[Another day passes. You emerge from the dormitory once more, only to realize with despair that there is no solution to your current predicament.]

[You secretly recall the memories of your original self. Disregarding your divine image, you loudly curse your other self for being such an idiot, determined to prove who truly deserves to be the master of this body.]

[Through your divine thinking, you analyze several pieces of information.]

[Display information?]

”Display.”

[1. It is obvious that your body appeared in this mine because you lack an energy source. As for choosing a low-level acquisition method like manual labor, you can’t even be bothered to comment on your other self’s stupidity.]

[2. Due to partial memory loss, you are unable to analyze the truly significant threats. Therefore, you decide that after achieving your primary objective, you must leave this place quickly and find a safe location to settle down.]

[3. You have formulated a series of future plans. Helping your other self is helping yourself. Although this statement sounds strange, it perfectly illustrates your current, conflicted state of mind.]
