Apocalyptic Wasteland Simulator

Chapter 101 - 98: Familiar! Acting on Behalf of Heaven
”That’s right. The Heaven’s Chosen I selected might not be some world-shattering hero riding on colorful clouds, but he certainly can’t be an ordinary person.”Of course, you’re the one who’s anything but ordinary. Managing such a vast harem... you’ve really had it tough.

The thoughts swirling in her mind caused an immediate change in Xia Qingxue’s expression. The corners of her mouth lifted, her face filling with a smile. It had been a year since Xia Qingxue returned to the Celestial Palace, and Hongkai’Er hadn’t seen her smile once in all that time.

”Young Palace Master, is there some good news? Could you share it with this servant, so I can be happy too?”

Xia Qingxue looked at her childhood playmate, whose fiery red battle armor was quite reminiscent of her own style. Her expression suddenly shifted as a flash of inspiration struck her.

She then stared at Hongkai’Er relentlessly, only stopping her unsettling gaze when the other girl began to squirm with unease.

Xia Qingxue cleared her throat.

”Ahem, Hongkai’Er, receive your orders. I have an extremely arduous task to entrust to you. If you can complete it with distinction, then in ten years, a place among the four great commanders of the Demon-Slaying Mandate will be yours.”

[You have invested 100 simulation points. Extracting talent!]

[DING! Congratulations on acquiring the Blue (upgradable) talent: Act on Behalf of Heaven.]

[Act on Behalf of Heaven]: Blue upgradable talent. You are the embodiment of light and justice, the nemesis of darkness and sin. Your entire life is dedicated to practicing the Heavenly Dao.

[Remaining Simulation Points: 644]

Chen Pingchuan rubbed his eyes. Everything seemed to be looking up.

[Congratulations on finally getting your brain back. A persistent headache drives you to bed early, but after several minutes of trying, you still can’t fall asleep, and your headache worsens.]

[After pondering for a few seconds, you figure out the problem. You quietly sneak downstairs, attempting to find a specialty foot massage parlor nearby. Ten minutes later, you return to your temporary residence, defeated.]

[With your plan thwarted, you have no choice but to rely on your incredible hand speed to manually solve the problem of your sleeplessness. Five minutes later, you fall into a deep slumber.]

???

Chen Pingchuan felt his world crumbling as he read the first simulation entry.

How could I possibly be that kind of person? In the first simulation, and now this one... I really feel like the simulator has some kind of misunderstanding about me.

”Who even chooses such a lame way to fall asleep? I mastered the technique for falling asleep in one second long ago, ha!”

This wasn’t an empty boast from Chen Pingchuan; he really did have a method. Knowing in advance that he would have trouble sleeping, he fully intended to try it out later.

[The next morning, you stretch mightily. Awakened by the noise in your head, you skip breakfast entirely. After saying a quick goodbye to your fake sister, you sling on a backpack containing only a diary and set off for school.]

[You see the familiar old street and the familiar shops, all of them perfect replicas of the street outside your residence in the outer district. You don’t recognize any of the people, except for the owner of the breakfast shop.]

[You greet him cheerfully. The breakfast shop owner looks at your smiling face, at a loss for words. But when he sees you shake your head slightly, he seems to understand. A smile appears on his face as he serves you the usual three bowls of tofu pudding.]

[Humming a tune and in a fantastic mood, you arrive at school. You happen to run into Feng Jiaqi, whom you have crossed paths with a few times before. Ignoring the bewildered look on her face, you give her a big hug, purely as a precautionary measure.]

[News of you and Feng Jiaqi hugging quickly spreads through the classroom. Liu Haofeng keeps eyeing you with a dangerous gaze. Outwardly, you offer a slight smile, but inwardly, fury runs rampant. How dare a mere ant stare at a god?]

[Under the astonished gazes of the entire class, you walk up to Liu Haofeng and—SLAP! SLAP! SLAP!—unleash a flurry of slaps across his face. Liu Haofeng tries to resist but is completely overwhelmed by your formidable attributes.]

[Act on Behalf of Heaven count: 1/100. Random attribute: Strength +0.02]

[Seeing this, Liu Haofeng’s lackeys charge at you. A few seconds later, his two most loyal underlings are left foaming at the mouth. The other toadies retreat several meters, lowering their heads, afraid to even look at you.]

[Feng Jiaqi comes over to persuade you not to be so impulsive, but your fierce gaze terrifies her into backing away. Your heroic deeds quickly spread throughout the school, and you are summoned to the office by your beautiful homeroom teacher.]

[Facing the homeroom teacher’s incessant nagging, you once again use the Sleight of Hand skill.]

Damn, am I really this ruthless?

Chen Pingchuan knew the power of Sleight of Hand. Its randomness was off the charts. Used well, it could nab something useful; used poorly, it could get the other person killed.

He tried to imagine how he would handle the situation if he were really there. After a few seconds, he conceded.

”Umm...”

Alright, it is infuriating. They clearly started it. I just taught them a small lesson. The fact that I didn’t kill them is already an act of divine mercy. As for that single point of progress for Act on Behalf of Heaven, I can only call it a pleasant surprise.

Chen Pingchuan didn’t yet understand what he would become after internalizing the ’Wrath’ trait.

The first day was only the beginning. It was far from the end.

[Suddenly, a pair of women’s underwear appears in your hand. Under the homeroom teacher’s angry and embarrassed gaze, you threaten her. You tell her you need to take an immediate leave of absence for personal errands. If she doesn’t comply, you will make her experience what it’s like to be in her ’natural state.’]

[Homeroom teacher Fang Yuxin is stunned by your cold expression. In all her years of teaching, she had never encountered a student like you—one who seemed more like a predator than a student. Her face flushes red, then turns pale, and then red again.]

[With the leave slip approved, you successfully exit the school campus. Using a transit map of the City of No Night, you find the location of the library.]

[However, your status as a Level 5 citizen prevents you from accessing any information on the branches of external factions. The knowledge monopoly enforced by this world’s upper echelons is more stringent than you had imagined. You urgently need a hacker-style smart brain that will serve only you.]

[Tasting the bitter fruit of failure does not leave you dejected. You begin to contemplate how to quickly restore your body’s base attributes in the real world.]

[After pondering for a moment, you head to an unexpected place.]
