Apocalyptic Wasteland Simulator

Chapter 106 - 103: Tricks! In terms of being cunning, I never admit defeat
*Ding! Entering Live Simulation Instance. Instance Name: The Cruel Truth Hidden Behind the Camp. Instance Cost: 100 Simulation Points.**Enter the instance immediately?*

”Simulator, are you messing with me? Why didn’t you tell me it would cost points beforehand? What kind of scam is this?” Chen Pingchuan complained. ”Can you at least try to act human? Even if you aren’t one, you don’t have to be such a scumbag. If I hadn’t been paying attention today, you would’ve totally fooled me! I...”

Chen Pingchuan griped for a while but realized the simulator was as unresponsive as ever. Though still suspicious, he temporarily stopped his pointless prodding.

At the same time, an uncontrollable anger surged within him. I really want to see what this Cannibal Demon King looks like. If I shattered his bones, drained his blood, sealed his five senses, and stuck him in a jar, I wonder how long he’d last?

”Enter the simulation.”

His vision went black, then flooded with light. Chen Pingchuan found himself transported from his quiet, comfortable bedroom to a desolate, semi-desert landscape. The only prominent feature was a small survivor camp.

He turned his head and glanced at Belia, who was standing beside him. He was stunned by her outfit. Although the simulation info had hinted at it, seeing her in person was another matter entirely. Chen Pingchuan’s heart skipped a beat; her appearance perfectly matched his idea of a ”loli”.

She wore a pink princess dress and little white shoes, her two cute pigtails swaying with every movement of her head. In this desolate landscape with sand whipping through the air, the contrast was jarring. It’s like someone used photo-editing software from my past life to photoshop a little girl into an apocalyptic wasteland.

Sensing his stare, Belia looked up. Her bright eyes focused on him, and she clearly didn’t understand why he was gawking.

Chen Pingchuan didn’t explain, instead pulling her aside to whisper.

”Once we get inside their territory, we need to set up some code words.”

”Code words?” Belia’s eyes lit up. She didn’t fully grasp his meaning, but it sounded interesting.

”Um... yeah, for a ’civil dispute’ or a ’physical dispute’. If I say ’Execute Heaven’s Will,’ it’s a civil dispute. If I say ’We’ve got a tough one,’ it’s a physical dispute.”

”Civil dispute? Physical dispute?” Belia looked puzzled, not quite understanding his terms.

Chen Pingchuan smiled and explained, ”A civil dispute means I go first. If I can’t handle it, you step in.”

”For a physical dispute, forget about any codes of honor. We either attack the enemy together, or you can go in alone. If you do, I can be your cheerleader and shout encouragement from the sidelines.”

Considering Chen Pingchuan’s pathetically low combat ability, Belia was worried he would get himself killed. A mature expression formed on her small face.

”For physical disputes, I’ll go by myself. You don’t need to cheer me on. Just hide somewhere and try not to die.”

Her words stung a little, but Chen Pingchuan showed no sign of shame. After all, his stomach had been acting up lately, making him perfectly suited for freeloading.

After murmuring to each other for a good while, the two of them finally headed toward the survivor camp’s gate.

Not far inside the gate, a scrawny man was watching the area outside through a pair of binoculars. He clearly spotted the new wanderers: Chen Pingchuan and Belia. As soon as he confirmed they were heading for the camp, he turned and bolted.

The wanderer camp was even smaller than Chen Pingchuan had imagined. I thought the Demon King’s lair would be much larger, but clearly, reality is different from my imagination. The camp appeared to be a converted abandoned factory. Although the surrounding walls had been reinforced, its foundation was still that of an old factory, giving it a rather unimpressive look.

As they reached the main gate, they saw a large sign hanging above that read: ”Doomsday Bunker Construction Project: Phase One.” Four armed guards stood at the entrance, dressed in standard-issue combat uniforms.

They look combat-ready, but those outdated rifles give away their lack of real strength. Of course, that’s not what I’m worried about right now. He was currently staring, puzzled, at two stone plinths not far from the gate. A sense of familiarity made him hesitate.

Considering my and Belia’s travel speed, it’s actually possible.

That’s right. He remembered assigning the Doomsday Bunker construction to his chubby underling, Guo Yihang, before he fell into a coma. He hadn’t seen any sign of him since waking up and had assumed he was dead, but now, there was a glimmer of hope. Maybe he followed my instructions, converted this factory into the Doomsday Bunker, and managed to survive the Red Rain. Even if the place was eventually taken over by others, maybe he managed to save his own skin?

To confirm his suspicions, Chen Pingchuan decided to explore the camp and question the survivors living there.

Seeing Chen Pingchuan and Belia’s attire, a guard at the camp entrance spoke in a formal tone, ”Welcome to the Doomsday Bunker Survivor Camp. Temporary entry is one hundred Federation Coins for a seven-day stay. An ID card for permanent residency costs ten thousand Federation Coins.”

At this, the guard paused, his eyes scanning Belia from head to toe before he continued.
