The First Legendary Beast Master

Chapter 1937 Rue Has Done Many Things

Rue smiled at the young Elves and their enthusiastic attitude toward training.

”You know, if youʼre going to be going out into the world as an officer on a proper trade vessel, you will need to know how to fight. If you canʼt fight, you get no respect.

With no respect, you can never hope to progress.

So, you should learn to strengthen your combat skills along with your basic trade and other skills. I think that it would do you a world of good.

Why donʼt we start with a bit of shipboard combat training in the new tower? Just give me a moment to tweak the power limits, and there shouldnʼt be any issues.

After all, a Supremeʼs 99 Percent damage reduction really cuts down on the barrier mana use.”

Karl waved for her to do as she pleased, since a better training area was an improvement for everyone involved. Plus, he was interested to see what Rueʼs version of shipboard combat training looked like.

Rue sent a pulse of power through the mostly formed training tower, and Karl watched as the area improved to Supreme Ranked, and then gained a few new functions that Rue thought would be interesting, but that Karl hadnʼt thought of.

One of those was the mirror match function.

You could enter and have the area duplicate your physical body and most of your skills. Then it would fight against you so that you could better yourself based on what you could do.

For most people, that was largely pointless. But for Karl and a few others, it was invaluable advice that would help them use their skills more effectively.

Cara just wanted to see what two Chaos Badgers in one spot would be like.

”Why donʼt we all go inside and test out our sea legs? I havenʼt been on a ship in some time, but I have a fair bit of sailing experience.” Rue suggested.

”You were a sailor? There is a lot that I donʼt know about your time away.” Dana noted.

Rue winked at her. ”I will fill you in on all the fun stuff eventually. Now, in we go. I think that I go the ship designs about right.

Our first test will be for the students so that we can see the baseline that they were sent to us with. Youʼre all shaman types, right? So you wouldnʼt be part of a boarding team. That means that youʼre on the defenderʼs side.

Youʼll have some time to prepare before the event starts.”

The Elves looked confused, but Karl and Cara escorted them all into the door of the training tower, where they were deposited onto the deck of a merchant ship very similar to the ones that the Blue Elves used.

”This one is actually from the Wave Riders on another world. But theyʼre also Blue Elves, so you will be familiar with most of their functions. Now, Iʼve given you a twenty warrior crew to represent the actual crew size, as not the entire crew would be magic users.

Now, show me what you have.”

The scene shifted, and a massive black ship loaded with Wrath Demons came barrelling at them broadside from half a kilometre away.

The Demons were cheering in anticipation of a good fight, and one of the Elves leapt to the wheel to spin their ship away. It was just in time, and the two ships sideswiped each other instead of getting the prow of the demonsʼ ship into their hull.

”MASTS!” The Elf at the helm shouted, and a pair of lightning bolts crashed into the demonsʼ masts, shattering the wood to break them free and keep the ships from getting entangled.

The demons threw grappling hooks to latch onto their rails and rigging, while others took a running leap onto the deck of the Blue Elvesʼ vessel.

The shamans brought up barriers on their people, and a [Wind Blade] knocked the first wave of boarders into the water.

Karl and the others moved to the stern of the ship to watch the battle, while the Elves used a series of whistles to coordinate their battle without words. It was highly efficient, but they were losing the battle.

They were trained with their swords, but not well-trained.

Karl could confidently say that their blade skills were no better than his, and that was not a particularly high standard. Especially for Elves. They were more confident with their magic, but they were obviously only trained to work with a group of warriors, as there was only one Shaman on most ships.

The Elves had a lot of rangers, warriors, and clerics, but the shamans were a more uncommon specialty.

Once the demons were all on board, and the majority of the warriors had fallen, Rue raised her hand and everything paused.

”Alright, I have seen what I need to.

Youʼve completed the basics of your Shaman combat training, but nothing on group work with other magic users, or on the proper blade work for a Wave Rider.

Well, youʼre not technically Wave Riders, unless thatʼs your class.

But my point stands.

So, instead of having you continue here on the ship, we will move you to something a bit more interesting.”

The scene shifted, and they were all standing on a wooden floating dock, with a group of Naga Bodyguards in front of them.

”This is a lower challenge scenario in some way, higher in others. The wave heights on the shore are generally lower, but they will break over the dock.

Now, I will have the snakes teach you the basics of how to use a blade in an aquatic environment.”

”Why not have Elves teach us? You know, since weʼre Elves.”

Rue laughed and created a sparring opponent that looked like a middle-aged shirtless Dark Elf covered in silver tattoos with red silk pants, bare feet and a tricorn hat that immediately made Leo envious.

That was a good hat.

”What is this? Youʼve called a bunch of swabs here for me to play with? Shouldnʼt you let them grow up a little before we start to beat sense into them?” he laughed, while giving the trainees a disdainful look.
