The First Legendary Beast Master

Chapter 1927 Elders Can Party Too

If there was one thing that the Darklight Host knew well, it was how to throw a party, and with not only the Elders of the New Home Merchant Clan present, but also the Elders of the Blackwood Pack, and now the Officers of the Blue Elvesʼ trading ships in the port, this was going to be a grand one.

The Brewmaster brought out the Clanʼs signature wines, along with a collection of matched snacks to go with them, and then presented a bottle each to Karl and Dana.

”Our finest vintage, reserved specifically for the Elders.

Now that youʼve made the cut, youʼve got access to the good stuff. Though, I suppose that weʼre going to have to start expanding our offers to Rum as well as wine.”

The Brewmaster was looking toward the Blue Elves, who were laughing at some joke that the Dark Elven Priestess who usually worked the store had made.

”I donʼt know, last I recall, they also liked wine. But the Darklight Host sees great promise in trading with the Elven Fleets. The Captains were gracious enough to come to me personally to work out the deal, so we will be looking forward to a successful negotiation after the event.

There are rooms here suitable for all the attendees, so feel free to drink your fill.”

Opal flew over and nodded eagerly.

”I have been working on a new item with the help of Lady Rue. She figured out that we can instance the rooms if we apply the runes inside the physical space, so we can have a single guest room for a hundred guests, and every time you enter you will always go to the same one, specifically for you, unless you are invited in by someone else.

So, we donʼt need to show people to all sorts of different spots, they can just all go to the same one when theyʼre tired.”

The Captains in particular were intrigued by that thought. The things that they could do with an instanced separate space, where people could break in and find an empty hold, only for the Captain to return to a full one...

It was glorious on a level that they had never even considered before.

Sure, plenty of Immortals and nearly every Supreme could detect a separate space nearby, especially the customs investigators that worked the docks.

But how many of them would realize that there were multiple layers to the space?

Almost none.

The very best place to hide things had always been in plain sight. So, if they had a separate space enchanted directly into the hull of their vessel, where it couldnʼt be stolen without taking the ship, nobody would think that they had anything to hide.

They would enter the space, examine it, know that it couldnʼt be moved, and assume that was the extent of the crewʼs holdings.

How great was that?

Now, there was no illusion that this might be a cheap addition to their vessels. They werenʼt delusional. But they did know that the Darklight Host had no trouble working with them, and the New Home Merchant Clan didnʼt get upset if they came directly to the Darklight Host for bulk equipment.

The arrangement got the New Home a selection of gear for their warehouse first, after what was selected to go on special in the store, and then the customers who arrived at the docks, or as walk ins from caravans, made their requests.

The Darklight Host members did their best to accommodate everyone.

”A toast to the new Elders of the New Home!” One of the Captains called, and then activated a skill that put a glass of Rum in everyoneʼs hand.

Nerissa knew that it was something like a trust test for the Blue Elves, to take a drink from someone else without checking it.

But she also knew that they were unlikely to try to poison anyone here.

Karl, on the other hand, raised his glass in a toast, and then downed it as if it were a shot glass.

Lotus tried to do the same, but the glass was swiftly removed from her grip, and Ophelia downed the rum from both hands, before setting the empty cups on the table.

”Iʼm going to need more drinks for this night, I can sense it already,” the Werebear whispered.

Elder Forsham chuckled, and patted her on the shoulder, then went to give Karl and Dana his welcoming gift.

”For the new Elders, I present to you the most important items that an Elder of the New Home must possess,” he began. ”Amulets of Acolyte calling.”

He handed each of them a small metal disc with two holes in it and a jagged break down the middle.

”You can give one half to your chosen Acolyte, and speak to them at any distance, directly into their mind, so they canʼt ignore it like a System Message. And, in times of emergency, you can call them to you with a forced teleport, or go to their location the same way.”

Dana carefully examined the spells inscribed into the two halves, while Cara began making plans for ways to hijack those spells.

If they were something that all Elders from most Sects carried, that meant that she could just call their Acolytes over for bonus loot and entertainment, right?

There definitely had to be a way.

”Thank you, these are wonderful. Iʼm certain that we will put them to good use in the near future.”

Elder Forsham smirked at Cara, and Karl began to laugh. ”Do you think that you could actually make her keep wearing a token that can stop her from having fun elsewhere? No, theyʼll be incredibly valuable for their actual purpose, protecting Acolytes who are out of town.”

Elder Socrate replaced Forsham in front of them and handed each a pair of potions.

”You will find that this is the theme of gifts for Elders. Something for you, and something for your Acolyte. Thatʼs something that nearly every Immortal who becomes an Elder looks forward to, you know.”

Karl nodded. ”The ability to have a dedicated lackey around who does what you tell them in exchange for training is a tempting thing.”

Or as Rae would call them, ”Pets”.

Her Pet Elf was currently working at the clothing shop, dealing with a customer who had absolutely zero fashion sense, and an extremely limited budget.

Which was why Rae was here.
