Primordial Chaos Dragon Tower: Harem System

Chapter 1459: The Tenth Floor - The Planet Devourer (1)

Vexthra and her team arrived on the 10th floor expecting a different scenery. However, what greeted them was no scenery pleasing to the eye.

There was nothing tangible in sight that would suggest they had even arrived in a world.

All they could see was a dirty atmosphere, with dusty wind blowing everywhere. In several places, the sky could be seen split, lines extending as far as the eye could see.

”A dying planet,” both Vexthra and Miryssa muttered in unison.

”Everyone, be careful. We are on a dying planet. The slightest mistake and you will be dead,” Vexthra’s warning reached everyone, causing them to nod seriously at her words.

Even the overly enthusiastic Kaizo chose caution since he could tell the very air they were breathing was hazardous.

”Big sister, what is wrong with this world?” Princess Lovina asked. ”I can taste and smell poison in the air, so much poison.”

Since she is a poison expert, nobody doubted her when she said she could sense poison everywhere. The only question worth answering was the one she asked.

What is wrong with the world?

”It is dying. This means the spiritual veins of the planet have been devoured, and with no veins left to support the planetary core, it is slowly breaking.” She paused and took a deep breath as if trying to smell something.

”At this rate, it will take less than ten years, perhaps even less, for the core to completely shatter. Once that happens, the planet will become uninhabitable.”

Just as she said that, the mission details appeared. She shared them with everyone.

⟦Name: Planet Killer Dungeon⟧

⟦Floor Name: The Planet Devourer (10th)⟧

⟦Power Level: True Immortal (Peak)⟧

⟦Description:

↠ Long ago, the world known as Vorthal was one of the richest cultivation planets in the Eastern Galaxy. Its spiritual veins stretched across the continents, nourishing billions of cultivators and countless ancient sects.

↠ But greed led to its downfall.

↠ In their attempt to achieve eternal life, the Seven Sovereign Sects performed a forbidden ritual meant to summon a cosmic entity capable of devouring planets and converting their essence into immortal energy.

↠ They wanted more despite having the best among many planets. Greed had entered their hearts, making them do the unthinkable.

↠ The ritual succeeded.

↠ But what descended upon the planet was not a servant... but a Planet Devourer.

↠ The creature known as Vorath, the World Eater, consumed the planet’s spiritual veins and slaughtered every living being on the world.

↠ In its final moments, the planet itself used its dying will to seal Vorath beneath the planetary core.

↠ For thousands of years, the seal held.

↠ But recently, the seal has begun to weaken. If Vorath awakens fully, it will devour the planet and evolve into a Cosmic Calamity Beast, capable of destroying entire star systems.

↠ Should that happen, the surrounding galaxies will fall into catastrophe.⟧

Everyone took a deep breath after reading through the mission a second time. The details were clear, and the implications were easy to read.

”How can people be this stupid?” Elaine suddenly muttered. ”From what I understood, this planet sounded like a haven. Why go the extra mile to cause its downfall?”

”Oh, believe me when I tell you this is nothing compared to what others have done in the past and keep doing. In this vast universe, there are people who just want more, regardless of how much they already have.”

Vexthra’s words made them all take a deep breath.

The Planet Devourer sounded like it had done its job since, based on what the people wanted, devouring everything seemed logical. The civilians dying was a bummer, but it wasn’t like they were innocents either.

They had hoped to use it to devour other planets and transfer their essence to their own.

Instead, they became its food.

”It is a threat to every immortal world,” Miryssa said.

”From what I know, when a planet dies, its core releases all stored essence back into the universe. While it is too contaminated for us to absorb, considering all the spiritual veins have already been absorbed, the Planet Devourer will be able to absorb everything.

Considering how vast the planet is, I am sure reaching the peak of the Immortal Lord stage or even becoming a demigod would be possible after devouring all that essence.

If that were to happen, then the entire galaxy would be in danger. It will rampage everywhere, and when it finally reaches the stage to ascend, the God World will be next.”

”This means we should kill it as early as possible, right?” Zareth asked, his expression changing a bit. He was the only one who could understand just how dangerous this mission would become if the worst case were to happen.

After all, he has the bloodline of the World Serpent, one of the deadliest devourers in the universe. Even now, he could tell they would have to be extra careful.

”Yes. It has to die, and you will lead the battle,” Vexthra answered. ”Among us, you are the only one with a devourer bloodline, so this mission falls on your lap.

However, because every devourer has an affinity for the void, Elyndra and Ingrid will come with you as well. Lastly, Enkay and Veydris will also join. All five of you are the only people qualified to get close to the planet’s core without dying violently.”

Since the devourer itself has a void affinity and the planet also seems to be dying rapidly, there is a great chance the void will be unstable.

Zareth has void affinity, and he can also devour. Elyndra has space affinity, so she can aid where the void cannot. Ingrid is a Voidling, so she would be like a fish in water.

As for Enkay, while his affinity for the void is limited, he has the most important qualities needed to complete the mission. He is a Peak True Immortal and has access to hellfire.

He would be the killing weapon, while Veydris would serve as the emergency sword, coming into play when the devourer least expects it.

Vexthra had studied their abilities, so she knew who to send and when.

”Remember, once the battle starts, the void will become fragile. This will make it hard to use, so aside from Ingrid, all of you should be careful when using it.

Also, when the Planet Devourer dies, there is a good chance the world will die with it, so be ready for anything. Of course, if you can end the battle much faster, that would also help.”

”We will do our best, big sister,” Ingrid said, taking out a spear from her space ring. She chose not to use her soul weapon since this mission is unpredictable, and the last thing she wanted was to injure her soul.

Zareth also retrieved a weapon that looked like a spear but curved at the tip. It was an innate weapon he had awakened recently, so this would be his first time using it.

The others also got ready to leave.

This mission is critical, so the least they could do is get it done as fast as possible.

”Good luck.”

Vexthra had already located the planet’s core, so they knew where to go. It would take them a couple of hours to get there, so they left in a hurry.
