Primordial Chaos Dragon Tower: Harem System

Chapter 970: Commander Agnes’s Motivation

”A question,” Kent said, walking toward Commander Agnes, ”How do you plan to survive the heat in the Inner region of this valley?”

”I have perfect flame resistance, so I will be fine. However, even if the heat is beyond me, I also have a Tier 14 flame resistance pill that lasts for days.”

”I see. In any case, we can’t go directly to our target yet. We need to prepare—well, I need to prepare—so we first head deeper into the Inner region, then twenty days from now, we focus on the Soul Flame Fruit.”

Commander Agnes couldn’t argue, considering she would be depending on Kent, who she still couldn’t believe was a mere Core Formation stage cultivator.

She tried probing him, but all she discovered was Kent’s clean and cut Core formation stage cultivation base.

”Whatever you say. In any case, I have been in this place for a month already, so waiting twenty more days isn’t too much of an ask.”

”I like insightful people. They are easy to work with,” Kent smiled. ”We can leave now.”

Shortly after, they left and started heading deeper into the Outer region, heading closer to the Inner region.

Kent struck up a conversation after they had moved a couple of kilometres. ”So why would a Princess wish to become an Army Commander?

Many ladies out there wish to be born into royal families where they will be pampered and looked after by thousands of maids and guards.

I mean, who wouldn’t want that? However, here you are, risking your life in the most dreadful place I have ever been, and trust me, I have been to quite a select few dreadful places.

Why don’t you quench my curiosity by telling me the reason behind your decision to become a warrior instead of a pampered Princess?”

Commander Agnes turned and looked at Kent, unsure if she should open up to him or not. Still, even after the blood oath, she was finding it difficult to trust Kent.

’There is just something about his smile that keeps freaking me out. Perhaps this is fear, but since he is merely a Core Formation cultivator, my body interprets it as him freaking me out.

However, opening up to him is not an easy thing to do. I know nothing about him, and telling him my deepest, darkest secret is something I can’t do so easily.

However, if I don’t tell him anything, he might think I don’t trust him. The last thing I want now is to lose his assistance when he is the only hope I have left.’

Kent kept quiet, pretending not to care whether she told him about her decision to become a warrior or not. He made it appear as if he wasn’t interested, but deep down, he wanted to know.

His Enchanted Eyes, which had mutated to become Heavenly Jade Eyes, could see some things, but not all.

So to know such a thing, this time, Kent knew he had to be human and ask. So he did, but the question was much heavier than anticipated.

Commander Agnes wrestled with her emotions for a couple of minutes before choosing to say something. Not everything, but something to at least quench Kent’s thirst.

”I chose to become a warrior because of my mother,” she began. ”When I was 18, she died protecting me from bandits while on a trip to Planet Zephyros to attend a Pill conference.

My mom was an Alchemist, a good one, but she was no warrior. However, when it came to it, she fought, and even while outnumbered, she gave her life in exchange for me.

I survived because she was brave. From then on, I chose to become brave. I refused to remain a pampered Princess who sits and lets maids and guards do everything for her.

I decided to become a warrior who fights and protects the weak.

So here I am, doing what I signed up for.”

Kent nodded. ”I see. For what it’s worth, I think you are a better warrior than you would have been a pampered Princess.”

Commander Agnes smiled slightly, knowing Kent was merely trying to make her feel better. Even so, she couldn’t help feeling proud of herself.

”She will be proud of you,” Kent suddenly added. ”Choosing to fight for the weak and innocent is something only the brave can do.

So every minute of the day, whenever you pull your bowstring and shoot an arrow, know that she is always with you and will forever be with you.”

Commander Agnes nodded.

Kent smiled weakly as his mind moved back to his life on Earth. Back then, he was ready to give up on life because he couldn’t understand why his life had turned out the way it had.

He was born a handsome man with a big ass dick, but fate deprived him of feeling pleasure or using his majestic asset. That was a low blow to his ego as man, and for years, he felt the need to end it all.

However, his mom stood by him, and until she breathed her last breath, she made sure he always knew she was there for him.

Perhaps, because of her, after she died, Kent chose to keep moving forward regardless of the unfortunate situation he had been thrust into since birth.

So, hearing Commander Agnes had made a decision to face danger instead of living a peaceful life, all because of her mother, he felt some respect for her.

’Mothers are the best,’ Kent said inwardly.

The rest of the journey was in silence, but even so, the two felt like they had connected on some level, allowing the sceptical Commander Agnes to finally start to trust Kent.

[Meanwhile, Inner Region of the Serpent’s Coil Valley - Venomous Gorges]

Inside the Inner region of Serpent’s Coil Valley, in a domain called Venomous Gorges, nestled between two mountains, the domain of the Flame Cobra King Zorath could be found.

He is a dark-skinned man with a cobra tattoo spiralling his torso.

He has long, black hair that is streaked with red, and eyes that seem to contain the flames in his surroundings, glowing with an ember-like intensity.

If a Heavenly Ascension stage warrior from Planet Nictus sees him, they will run with their tails coiled between their legs.

However, such a powerful being stood respectfully before two Nagas, each a danger that he wouldn’t dare provoke.

”How can I be of help today, ladies?” Zeroth, the Flame Cobra King, asked, maintaining a polite smile.

Although all three of them were Tier 19 beasts, Zeroth had only broken 22 limits, unlike the two Nagas, who had already broken their 25th.

In terms of danger, Zeroth pales in comparison to them. So, as a beast with intelligence (Spirit Beast), he knew he had to be polite if he wanted to keep his head.

Niraya, one of the Nagas, spoke. ”The Monarch sensed something strange within this area, and she sent us to come and investigate.

Deploy your men to search for anything out of place. If they find anything and they can capture it, they should bring it to us. Otherwise, they should alert us.

We will be heading to the Iskar and Rahven domains next. Remember, this is a direct order from the Monarch, so failure is not an option.”

”Rest assured, ladies, I will get right on it,” Zeroth answered, and the ladies nodded.

”We expect good news, Zeroth.”

They left the next second, finally allowing Zeroth the room to breathe.

”They keep getting scarier every time you meet them,” Zeroth sighed and sat down. Later, he issued a command and deployed thousands of beasts under his command to start looking for the unknown.

Two days later, Kent and Commander Agnes entered Zeroth’s domain, unsure what awaited them.
