Brother Dao Took the Entertainment Industry by Storm, Fans Beg Me Not to Kill Anymore

Chapter 672: Audience: Shocked! This Kidʼs Acting Can Actually Be Watched!?

In the end, the audience missed the truth, and Tiger Brother took the fall for everything.

No one knew that his sharp critique of Ren Yibai in this episode actually came from another directorʼs handwritten roasting notes.

Not even Xiao He had noticed the truth behind it.

After watching the video, he couldnʼt help but quietly like Tiger Brotherʼs post.

Bro, youʼre still the bravest one.

The attack power in the previous few episodes had dropped, making everyone think heʼd received a lawyerʼs letter, toned things down, and was afraid of fans reporting his videos, leaving his years of hard work in ruins.

Now it turned out—heʼd been holding back a big move.

Daring to throw such a direct punch at Ren Yibaiʼs face, he really hoped Tiger Brother could hold on.

Xiao He first lit a virtual candle for Tiger Brother, while also feeling curious—would Ren Yibaiʼs blood pressure spike when he saw this video?

Such a shame. No roadshow events today, so he couldnʼt see the guyʼs expression in person.
Xiao He felt a pang of regret.

But with this sudden explosion of popularity, was it good or bad for their *Let the Mistake Slide* production team?

He hesitated for a moment, then put down his phone and went to find Liu Rulan.

She was already up at this hour, having just finished a phone call.

Almost the moment she hung up, Xiao He walked in.

”Morning.”

He casually greeted her. ”Eaten yet?”

”Yeah.”

The woman tossed the documents aside, lazily sank into the sofa, crossed her legs on the coffee table, and lounged in utter relaxation. If she had a cigarette in her hand right now, sheʼd be the spitting image of a gangster boss.

”Director Zhuang just called me. He heard youʼre about to start filming and are flying abroad at the end of the month, so he wants to move the celebration banquet to the next few days.”

”Huh? The celebration banquet for *Phantom Thief 2*? Got it. You guys arrange it.”

Actually, Xiao He had already attended a celebration banquet for the first installment, and it wasnʼt that interesting.

But he was on the same boat as Director Zhuang now, so maintaining the relationship was necessary.

”Itʼs not just *Phantom Thief 2*,” Liu Rulan reminded him. ”*Corner Also* Season Two just wrapped up recently too, and the figurines and merchandise are still selling strong. So Director Zhuang thought, since everyoneʼs in Beijing anyway, we might as well do them back to back.”

”If Iʼm not mistaken, there should be news about sequels at this banquet.”

Xiao He thought about Director Zhuang, calculated the situation with these two projects, and smiled helplessly. ”So, if we count it now, our cooperation with Director Zhuang is only going to increase. He still owes us several sequels.”

*The Phantom Thief Alliance 2* and *Corner Also* Season Two were both wrapping up one after another, so Director Zhuang no longer needed to follow their progress.

So this restless businessman had probably already started preparing the sequel process.

Liu Rulan thought for a moment and still said, ”Even so, play it steady at the celebration banquet for now.”

”Huh? Why?”

Xiao He was a bit surprised.

Given his current relationship with Director Zhuang, it would be hard for him to refuse any invitation from the director.

Whether it was *The Phantom Thief Alliance 3* or *Corner Also* Season Three, both would definitely be key projects for him in the future.

There was no need to hesitate about that!

”Ahem, I heard Director Zhuangʼs next project is something new. Heʼs not planning to start *Phantom Thief 3* for now.” Liu Rulan cleared her throat. ”I havenʼt confirmed this yet, so youʼd better keep it steady for now.”

No matter how good Director Zhuang Hongyiʼs business sense was, or how impressive his past works were, jumping blindly into his next project wasnʼt wise.

Especially a project that appeared with no warning—sheʼd never even heard Director Zhuang had this plan before the news came out.

”And youʼre about to head to the U.S. What if thereʼs a project over there too?” Liu Rulan hesitated, not pushing Xiao Heʼs future development overseas, but instead said, ”Timing-wise, I feel like script offers from both sides might clash. Maybe Iʼm overthinking it, but... letʼs just see how it goes.”

”Mm, okay. Iʼve got it.”

Xiao He nodded, feeling a bit curious himself. ”Director Zhuang starting a new project? Thatʼs really surprising. You have no information at all?”

The Phantom Thief series was such a massive hit—the first two films had raked in a fortune. The second one even blatantly shoved a third-movie teaser in the audienceʼs face during the end credits. Xiao He found it hard to believe Director Zhuang wouldnʼt follow up, release the third installment for next yearʼs Spring Festival slot, and instead shift to something else entirely.

That just didnʼt fit Director Zhuangʼs businessman philosophy.

”I honestly donʼt know much about it.” Liu Rulan shrugged. ”I just heard heʼs been in touch with some team in Hong Kong recently. As for the details, weʼll have to wait and see.”

”Hong Kong, huh...”

Xiao He pondered for a moment, and his brain involuntarily started playing background music—scenes of massive explosions, punch-to-punch cop-and-criminal blockbusters.

—Over the years, only those kinds of films had managed to stay standing over there. Though they no longer shone as brightly as in their glory days, every few years, a spectacular masterpiece still came out. Even Xiao He really enjoyed watching those Hong Kong cop-and-criminal action films. They were genuinely great.

So, was Director Zhuang planning to shoot something like that next?

Thatʼd be pretty good.

Xiao He felt a surge of excitement.

Come to think of it, heʼd never filmed a cop-and-criminal blockbuster before! How satisfying would it be to act in a crime film like that?

If that were the case, he might not even need to hesitate about accepting Director Zhuangʼs invitation... ahem.

Xiao He glanced at Liu Rulan, wisely choosing not to reveal his thoughts, and instead asked about something else: ”By the way, today thereʼs a blogger roasting movies online...”

---

Over the next few days, thanks to Tiger Brotherʼs viral rant, many people learned about *Let the Mistake Slide*. Everyone was laughing along with his critique of Ren Yibaiʼs acting, but because of the original IPʼs fame and the audienceʼs confidence in Xiao Heʼs acting skills, many viewers still chose to watch the film in theaters.

And so, *Let the Mistake Slide*ʼs box office even crept up a bit.

The soul swap theme unexpectedly sparked another small wave of popularity.

Perhaps—no, definitely—because Qiu Zhenlongʼs roasting was so sharp and ruthless, many viewers actually felt compelled to defend Ren Yibai after watching the film. They thought Tiger Brotherʼs criticism was exaggerated.

This was, ironically, a bit of a dark comedy.

Because Qiu Zhenlong, after all, was a director in the industry—high status, high standards, who had seen too many talented actors. Someone like Ren Yibai didnʼt even qualify to make it onto his casting list.

So, from his perspective, Ren Yibaiʼs acting was downright terrible. He naturally approached it from the angle of a renowned director, tearing into Ren Yibai without mercy.

But as the old saying goes, ”Not as good as the best, but better than the worst.”

Ren Yibai might not have been great, but he wasnʼt so terrible that he deserved death.

Many people had gone into the film already expecting the male leadʼs acting to be so disastrous it would tear through the heavens. They were biased, assuming Ren Yibaiʼs performance would fail completely. So when they discovered his acting was actually somewhat passable, the audienceʼs first reaction was surprise.

Thatʼs right, surprise.

Wow! Ren Yibaiʼs kidʼs acting was actually watchable!

How was that not a pleasant surprise?
