Becoming Their Guiding Spirit

# Chapter 74: Alina, shall we sleep together? Mirror Flower, Water Moon was a very good ability.

Unlike other abilities.

The ability of Mirror Flower, Water Moon itself was a perfect match for Lucas Reeve’s spirit form.

Other abilities, including the sword moves of the breathing techniques and even the release of the Holy Sword, required Lucas Reeve to rely on a physical body. But Mirror Flower, Water Moon did not; Lucas Reeve could release it directly with his soul, even without relying on Alina’s body.

”They’ve run away! Mr. Reeve!!”

After Lucas Reeve returned control of the body to Alina, she looked excitedly at the Ursus soldiers who were leaving excitedly, carrying wooden buckets and sacks.

”I altered everyone’s memories, implanting a suggestion in their minds that this village is a normal village. If nothing unexpected happens, after these people report back, they probably won’t come again for a short while.”

”Really?!!”

Alina’s eyes curved into crescent moons from smiling, she was incredibly happy. The cute black and gray deer ears on both sides of her cheeks trembled with excitement, and the deer tail behind her wagged non-stop. This action almost made Lucas Reeve think that Alina was a Perro, not a deer.

”You’ve helped us out in a big way again, Mr. Reeve... I... I don’t even know how to express my gratitude....”

Alina sighed.

As an incredibly kind ’angel’, she felt very guilty. The more Lucas Reeve helped her, the more Alina felt she wouldn’t know how to repay this kindness in the future.

”Silly girl, aren’t you helping me right now?”

Lucas Reeve smiled faintly, his voice gentle.

Alina was a good kid. Being with someone like her always easily made one feel cheerful.

”But...”

Just as Alina was about to explain, the guerrilla fighters and a large wave of Infected who had been hiding outside the village cautiously returned.

Talulah rushed over immediately, grabbing Alina by the shoulders and asking in a somewhat serious tone.

”Alina, what happened just now? Why did those Ursus soldiers....”

Regarding this explanation.

Alina had already discussed it with Lucas Reeve just now.

A calm smile appeared on her gentle and beautiful face as she slowly explained.

”Talu, this is another application of my Originium Arts. Strictly speaking, my Originium Arts isn’t simply about catalyzing plants, but about plant affinity. I just controlled the plants to release hallucinogenic pollen, which made those Ursus soldiers fall into an illusion that this village was full of ordinary people, passing off the fake as real.”

Alina’s reason was indeed very plausible.

Anything that couldn’t be explained was attributed to Originium Arts.

But...

Talulah didn’t really believe it.

Because Senior Patriot had said it was an interference on the mental level, not a physical hallucinogen. It was completely unreasonable...

But... in the end, Talulah still chose to believe Alina. Because she had known Alina for a very, very long time, Talulah didn’t think her confidante and best friend would hide things from her, or that there was any need to hide things from her at all.

Patriot slowly walked over.

His attention was entirely on Alina’s bracelet.

Yesterday, he had sensed a strange feeling from this bracelet, but when he wanted to investigate it again, the aura from the bracelet suddenly disappeared. It was only for an instant, but Patriot didn’t think there was anything wrong with his perception.

”Alina... this bracelet... I don’t think.. I’ve seen you wear it before...”

Patriot said haltingly.

This sudden question also made Alina freeze for a moment, then she quickly explained.

”Senior Patriot, this bracelet was a gift from Talu.”

Patriot looked at Talulah.

Talulah nodded: ”That’s right, Senior Patriot. I gave this bracelet to Alina yesterday. Is there a problem?”

”No...”

Patriot shook his head.

Since Talulah gave it to her yesterday, then there should be no problem with this bracelet.

After all, judging from Talulah’s expression, she didn’t seem to know anything either.

Could it be that I’m really getting old.. and my senses are failing?

Just as Patriot was about to turn and leave, he remembered something and said.

”Alina... remember to reduce the frequency of using your Originium Arts... using it too frequently will worsen your Oripathy...”

”I understand... Senior Patriot...”

As a senior, Patriot gave his advice and then left.

Although this crisis seemed to have been resolved under a lot of mysterious circumstances due to Alina’s ’Originium Arts’, no one dared to let their guard down. To prevent another attack from these Ursus soldiers, Patriot’s Shieldguards stood guard at the edge of the village at all times, and under Talulah’s command, many Infected were also prepared to leave at a moment’s notice.

After a brief chat with Talulah.

Alina couldn’t wait to return to her room to tinker with her crops.

This also made Talulah a bit puzzled.

In the past, Alina would often hang out and chat with her. Why did Alina these past two days seem... not to have said much to her, basically staying alone in her room.

Talulah was a little suspicious.

Could it be that the bracelet she gave her yesterday made Alina angry?

That shouldn’t be.

And inside the room.

Alina and Lucas Reeve were tinkering with new seeds again, and had already started designing the next small greenhouse on paper.

The temperature of the ice field was incredibly cold.

It was obviously unrealistic for a conventional greenhouse to stay warm.

The principle of a regular greenhouse is simply to absorb the sun’s heat during the day and then retain it inside the greenhouse, forming a local microclimate through translucent covering materials and environmental control equipment. This microclimate can also provide a very good growing environment for the plants inside.

But there was a very serious problem.

This type of greenhouse has a characteristic: it needs to absorb sunlight at the very least. But... the harsh environment of the northern ice fields of Ursus, the sunlight during the day is simply not enough to provide sufficient heat. Moreover, when it gets late at night, the temperature will drop to a very, very low level in an instant. A normal greenhouse simply cannot withstand such temperatures.

They had to think of a new way.

Or to think outside the box. Because a normal greenhouse needs to maintain a constant temperature for a long time, as the growth cycle of normal vegetables takes several months. But due to the ability, the growth cycle of the crops is at most one week, and at least only three days. That is to say...

Lucas Reeve didn’t need to consider a long-term constant temperature problem, he just needed to find a way to maintain the temperature for three to seven days at a time.

That made it a lot simpler.

No sunlight needed, just sufficient water, fertilizer, and temperature. After that, everything could be left to the catalysis ability.

Lucas Reeve and Alina discussed possible solutions for a whole afternoon, and drew up the relevant blueprints. It wasn’t until evening when Talulah came to call Alina out for dinner that Alina reluctantly left her room.

After a simple dinner, she immediately dove back into her room to look at the new round of plans.

After chatting with Lucas Reeve for so long.

Alina found that Lucas Reeve was truly knowledgeable. Lucas Reeve had knowledge in many fields, and could always offer his own views and opinions. Even regarding the future of the Reunion Movement, Lucas Reeve had already designed a virtual blueprint for the future of the Reunion Movement in his discussions with Alina.

Knowledgeable?

How could that be...

Lucas Reeve just liked to chat about everything under the sun with his sand sculpture group of friends in his past life. As a ’distinguished’ university student of his generation, from major international issues like satellite launches down to the postpartum care of sows, although he wasn’t an expert and didn’t know much, when discussing with others, he could always talk about it in a coherent way.

It even gave people the impression of an ’internet keyboard warrior’.

Not an expert in anything, but could say a thing or two about everything.

And this little bit of knowledge, in the eyes of Alina who grew up in the Ursus countryside and had never received any formal education, was exactly like a learned expert who knew everything from astronomy to geography. Alina’s gaze towards Lucas Reeve even faintly held a hint of worship.

”Alina, I’m not bragging!”

”Back in the Great Ninja War! If I hadn’t gone to stop them at the end, Naruto and Sasuke wouldn’t have stopped fighting. Sigh, after all, it was a friendship of over ten years. For my sake, the two brothers buried the hatchet.”

Late at night.

Having been cooped up in the statue for too, too long, Lucas Reeve’s chatterbox mode was hard to stop once Alina had turned it on.

From the basic structure of rockets, to the construction of aircraft carriers, to the principles and hypotheses of greenhouses, and the future of the Reunion Movement.

Even...

Now they were chatting about things that were getting gradually absurd.

Alina listened very attentively.

It seemed as if she believed whatever Lucas Reeve said, never doubting his words.

Or perhaps.

From the very beginning.

Alina had regarded Lucas Reeve as an omnipotent being.

——Two days later——

”Mr. Reeve!! I did it!!”

Early in the morning.

Alina woke Lucas Reeve up from his sleep. Although souls didn’t really need to sleep, Lucas Reeve was used to sleeping for a bit at night.

He slowly emerged from the bracelet.

In the room.

Alina excitedly pointed at the fully matured carrot in the flowerpot.

The bright green leaves shooting skyward were full of life.

Alina excitedly pulled the carrot out of the flowerpot, her eyes shining.

She knew what this meant.

The Reunion Movement’s food crisis had a potential solution.

As long as they expanded production a little, then...

Thinking that everyone could have fresh vegetables to eat every day like the ordinary people of Ursus, instead of eating hard, dry bread and jerky every day, Alina couldn’t contain her happiness.

”Thank you, Mr. Reeve!!”

Alina held the fresh carrot in her hand like a treasure, turned around, and once again bowed deeply to Lucas Reeve in thanks.

”If it weren’t for Mr. Reeve....”

Thinking of this.

Alina’s voice was even a little choked up.

Although they had only known each other for a few days.

Mr. Reeve had given her and the Reunion Movement far, far too much help, so much that she didn’t even know how to repay him.

Lucas Reeve smiled and patted Alina on the head. Her gray hair was very soft, comparable to Ceobe’s.

”We have a contract between us, you know. Or rather, from the moment you decided to trust me and relax your soul, we became one of our own. What is there to thank me for? I’m helping you, and likewise, you’re helping me, aren’t you?”

Tears welled up in Alina’s eyes. She looked at the handsome Lucas Reeve floating in front of her, his smile as gentle as the winter sun. An unparalleled smile bloomed on her face, with glistening tears at the corners of her eyes, and she slowly nodded.

”Mhm!”

——————

Meeting room.

Talulah looked at the carrot Alina brought over, and was also too excited to speak.

It really... succeeded.

Alina had really managed to grow vegetables in this cold, snowy plain in just four days.

Hiss...

Even someone as strong as Patriot was a little excited in his heart.

”I want to try to expand production. I’ve made some blueprints in my room these past few days... I want to discuss them with everyone.”

Alina took out a stack of design drawings.

These design drawings were actually all drawn by Lucas Reeve.

According to the plan Lucas Reeve had thought of.

The role of these first-version greenhouses was only for insulation. The idea was to build the greenhouse inside a vacant wooden house, and cover the outside of the wooden house with a large amount of soil to act as a simple insulation layer. Then, fires would be lit in several corners of the wooden house for heating, and then the insulated greenhouse would be built inside the house. This was just a temporary idea.

Specific modifications would depend on the actual implementation process.

However.

After her initial excitement, Talulah felt a little puzzled.

Alina knew how to do this???

Talulah knew very well.

Alina grew up in a remote village in Ursus. Unlike herself, Alina had never even received any formal education. Even though she liked to read in her spare time, none of those books had this kind of information. Talulah herself didn’t even understand this stuff, so why did Alina know so much?

Strange.

For a moment...

Talulah even felt that her best friend was a bit of a stranger.

First, she suddenly awakened to Originium Arts... then she made the Ursus soldiers hallucinate, and now she directly planned out an entire greenhouse design...

To be honest.

If her personality hadn’t changed.

Talulah would even suspect that her best friend had been possessed by some evil god.

A bit strange...

During the meeting, Talulah was slightly distracted. She was thinking about what had been going on with Alina these past few days. And after the meeting ended, Talulah seemed to have made up her mind.

Night.

After hesitating for a long time, Talulah knocked on the door of Alina’s room.

At this time.

Alina was chatting with Lucas Reeve.

Upon hearing the knock, Lucas Reeve immediately hid inside the bracelet, and Alina hurried to open the door. Standing at the door was indeed Talulah.

”Talu? Is something the matter?”

Alina smiled faintly.

This smile was all too familiar to Talulah... it was indeed the familiar Alina. Could it be that she was overthinking things?

However...

Since she was already here.

”Alina, it seems like we haven’t had a proper chat in a long time, right? I want to sleep here tonight. Can you chat with me properly?”

Alina: ”Huh?”

Lucas Reeve: ”Huh?”
