After the Breakup, Indulgence Returned to Cash, and I Topped the Rich List

39: Chapter 39 The Female Demon?Until the call ended, Lin Zhaolu was still completely bewildered on the other end of the line.

She could never have dreamed that the mysterious figure who had so effortlessly and inexplicably bought the shares of her family’s hotel would turn out to be such an absent-minded person.

”It can’t be. How could such a young and formidable business expert forget about his own assets!”

”Unless...”

Lin Zhaolu was still there, speculating about Shen Zhou’s underlying intentions.

Meanwhile, Shen Zhou had already arrived downstairs at the Wanhe Linmei Company.

Just as he stepped into the elevator and reached the seventeenth floor where the company was located,

Shen Zhou heard a burst of scolding coming from inside the company from his beautiful boss.

”You can’t even handle a small project proposal like this? They’ve been our clients for three years, and you still can’t figure out their preferences?”

”Are you determined to ruin my project?”

”Do you have any idea how crucial every single project in this company is right now?”

”And you, Hao Meng! What about the artist I told you to contact? Why did they suddenly miss the performance today? What exactly are you good for!”

”Couldn’t you have kept an eye on it beforehand?”

”And stop just watching! Look at you all, I have no idea what you’re doing!”

”Where is Shen Zhou? It’s past working hours, why hasn’t he arrived yet?”

”Hao Meng, he is your project department team leader. When he gets here, tell him to come to my office to see me!”

Hearing Lin Lan mention his name, Shen Zhou couldn’t help but shudder involuntarily.

This female boss of his truly lived up to the nickname the company colleagues gave her: the Iron Lady.

This aura, this rhythm—everything about her highlighted the distinct characteristics of a strong career woman.

Once the voices inside the company gradually quieted down, Shen Zhou quietly snuck into the office.

He had just reached his workstation.

Shen Zhou saw his team member, Hao Meng, leaning over with a terrified expression on his face.

”Boss, why are you only just getting here! The She-Devil is furious! She’s looking for you right now!”

”Huh, didn’t you used to call her the Iron Lady? Why did you switch to ’She-Devil’ today?”

Shen Zhou said, speechless.

”Hey, you don’t know what she’s like today. It’s like—it’s like she’s Mei Chaofeng!”

”She just scolded me so hard I nearly wet my pants. It scared the life out of me!”

”Uh... Hao Meng, oh Hao Meng, you’re a grown man! Is it really that bad?”

Facing Hao Meng’s cowardly display, Shen Zhou really didn’t want to say anything else.

This guy was exactly like a husky—cowardly and gossipy.

But then again, after hearing what Hao Meng said, Shen Zhou actually felt a little timid himself.

The reason his female boss was so furious today was, nine times out of ten, due to the gap in the previous project.

The biggest and most important project was on the verge of falling through. If the other projects couldn’t be saved either, the company would lose all ability to recover.

If the company lost its ability to recover, no matter how capable Lin Lan was, she would be left with no choice but to face the company’s closure.

Thinking about it this way, it was easy to understand why Lin Lan’s anger was flaring up.

”Let her scold me a few times. I’ve already done ’that’ with her anyway; I’ll just treat it as coaxing my own wife into a good mood.”

Before walking into the CEO’s office, Shen Zhou did some simple mental preparation, then pushed open the heavy glass door.

”Manager Lin, you wanted to see me.”

”Why are you only just arriving at the company? It’s past working hours.”

Originally, upon seeing someone enter, Lin Lan had intended to scold them just as she had the other employees.

But when she saw Shen Zhou’s handsome face, for a moment, she seemed to recall the intimate moments they had shared these past few days.

Plus, Shen Zhou had been accompanying her, running around these past few days.

For some reason, more than half of Lin Lan’s previous anger seemed to vanish.

”Sorry, Manager Lin, I had some things to take care of today. Besides, it’s the weekend; since we’re working overtime so suddenly, I didn’t pay attention to the time.”

Shen Zhou shrugged and said sincerely.

”Do you think I’m an unreasonable woman, calling you all in to work overtime on the weekend when everyone else is resting?”

”Actually, I’m not that kind of woman. Don’t worry, I will pay everyone’s overtime wages as usual.”

”It’s mainly because the company is in a very tight spot right now, and several projects have suddenly hit snags...”

”I understand, Manager Lin. You don’t need to explain it to me; I know the situation.”

Before Lin Lan could finish, Shen Zhou signaled for her to stop.

At that moment, he seemed to have sensed a bit of the insecurity deep within Lin Lan’s heart.

After all, as the company’s CEO, Lin Lan had no need to explain anything to Shen Zhou.

Even if their relationship had developed significantly, on a corporate level, they were still ultimately in a superior-subordinate relationship.

Since they were superior and subordinate, there was no reason for a boss to explain herself to an employee.

Overtime is just the norm for the working class, after all.

If she had to explain even something like this, Lin Lan wouldn’t be called the Iron Lady or the She-Devil by her employees behind her back.

But today, Lin Lan had actually explained it to Shen Zhou.

What did this mean? It meant that Lin Lan also had moments of weakness; she was worried that Shen Zhou would be angry, and she was worried that Shen Zhou would misunderstand her because of it.

”As expected, no matter how strong a woman is, she has a vulnerable side!”

Shen Zhou thought to himself, then took the initiative to ask Lin Lan about the variety show project from before.

”Don’t even ask. I’ve contacted several investors over the past two days, but none of them are willing to invest.”

”A few online platforms are willing to cooperate with us, but without money now, we won’t be able to last until the day the program airs.”

Lin Lan was telling the truth.

Regarding this variety show project, ever since the hope of investment from Wan Yiquan had been completely cut off,

Lin Lan had only been able to rely on her own strength to find a solution.

The difficulties Lin Lan faced actually came from two aspects: one was the issue of broadcasting on major online platforms and media outlets.

That is, the issue of the program’s later broadcast.

This difficulty, thanks to Lin Lan’s efforts, had already been more than half resolved.

Several traditional media outlets, out of respect for Wan Yiquan, still did not allow the possibility of broadcasting.

However, several larger online platforms had ignored Wan Yiquan’s obstruction and expressed great interest in the variety show Shen Zhou had planned.

However, interest was one thing; if she wanted the program to air smoothly, Lin Lan still had to face the second, most difficult problem.

And this second difficulty was naturally the funding issue that had been plaguing them recently.

Everything was ready, except for the final piece. Everyone who needed to be contacted had been contacted, everything that needed to be prepared had been prepared, and all that was left was to actually produce the show.

Being short of money at this juncture was simply a fatal blow.

”As for the money issue, it seems I can help solve it!”
