After the Breakup, Indulgence Returned to Cash, and I Topped the Rich List

22: Chapter 22 The Past of the Lin Group!Recalling the abnormality on the bed after waking up this morning, Shen Zhou clearly believed Lin Lan’s words now.

Previously, Shen Zhou had always found it strange—his boss was someone who had been married before, so how could such a situation still occur?

But now, as he mulled over what Lin Lan had said, Shen Zhou suddenly saw the beauty before him in a whole new light.

”If I didn’t say that, I’m afraid even more people would be coveting me.”

”Besides, my family situation doesn’t allow me to have any other thoughts for these few years.”

As she spoke, Lin Lan continued her narration.

Finally, after about another half hour, Shen Zhou completely understood the whole sequence of events from his beautiful boss’s mouth.

Before, Shen Zhou had always thought his beautiful boss was just a promising young person who had come to Magic City from out of town.

That she had worked her way up from being an ordinary person to becoming a strong businesswoman through her own hard work.

But after listening to Lin Lan’s story, Shen Zhou realized that, as it turned out, there were so many twists and turns behind this strong woman’s success.

And the reason why Lin Lan had become the strong woman she was today...

Actually had to start from the Lin family behind her.

The Lin family was once a massive family that dominated the entire country’s entertainment sector.

The industries once under the family’s banner had a market value reaching nearly ten billion.

And at that time, it just so happened that Shen Zhou was still in middle school.

That is to say, around the 2010s, the Lin family was already a giant in China’s entertainment field.

However, what Shen Zhou didn’t know was that about five years ago, in the spring...

The Lin Group suffered a massive upheaval, and then, the entire Lin family became what it was today.

They became a second-tier family in China’s entertainment sector.

And if Lin Lan hadn’t mentioned it to Shen Zhou personally, he wouldn’t have even remembered that there was a Lin Group in China’s entertainment field.

”After my father had his accident, our family’s business operations ran into problems.”

”Those partner companies that used to have a good relationship with my father suddenly turned their backs for some unknown reason!”

”Many payments that weren’t even due yet were being demanded from my family.”

Lin Lan quietly described her family’s past, while Shen Zhou listened intently, as if hearing a great epic about the rise and fall of a family.

Indeed, a great epic of a family’s rise and fall always has a couple of villains.

And the villains of the Lin Group were, without a doubt, Lin Lan’s two close relatives—her biological uncle and aunt.

It was only later that Lin Lan found out why the Lin Group her father left behind had collapsed so quickly.

And the main reason was that Lin Lan’s own uncle and aunt had personally set a trap to bring down the Lin Group.

Lin Lan’s uncle was named Lin Maoming. In the beginning, he hadn’t participated in her father’s entrepreneurial journey.

Since Lin Maoming had never been cut out for business since he was a child...

The founding of the entire Lin Group itself didn’t have much to do with Lin Maoming.

However, Lin Lan’s father was quite good to his own brother; despite knowing his younger brother spent his days idling about and couldn’t contribute to the family business, he still gave him a cushy job as a director where he didn’t have to do anything but still received a daily income.

However, that’s just how things go in this world; if there’s a good older brother who cares for his younger brother...

Naturally, there will be a wicked younger brother with a black heart.

Five years ago, the head of the Lin Group—Lin Lan’s father, Lin Maoqiang—died in a plane crash.

And just when the Lin family was facing this sudden misfortune and still preparing for Lin’s father’s funeral...

Lin Lan’s uncle, Lin Maoming, secretly teamed up with a group of the Lin Group’s partners to pull the rug out from under them.

Dozens of companies suddenly attacked, instantly forcing the once-prosperous Lin Group into a debt crisis.

And in order to solve this crisis...

Lin Lan’s mother was ultimately forced to withdraw funds from several projects that were already profitable to fill this sudden hole.

However, just when Lin Lan’s mother had exhausted her efforts and was about to settle the Lin Group’s crisis...

Lin Maoming, the uncle, rejected all of her operations on the grounds that Lin Lan’s mother was merely the spouse of the company chairman and did not have a seat on the board of directors.

Thus, under these circumstances, the Lin Group plummeted from its peak to the bottom in almost an instant due to the breakout of the debt scandal.

The stock price also dropped from its former ten-billion-dollar market value to less than one billion later on.

And it was at this time that Lin Maoming’s entire scheme was finally revealed to Lin Lan and her mother.

Buying low, Lin Maoming finally became the chairman of the group after a series of maneuvers, rising from an idle director of the Lin Group.

Meanwhile, Lin Lan’s mother, unable to bear the blow of losing both her husband and the company, suffered a sudden stroke and became unable to care for herself.

”Then how did you come out to start your own business later?”

”Your uncle couldn’t have taken your shares too, right?”

Having clarified the family situation behind Lin Lan, Shen Zhou couldn’t help but show his concern again.

”That’s not the case. My father had already locked my shares before he died, and they couldn’t be transferred for five years.”

”It’s possible my father already realized back then that my uncle wasn’t a good person, which is why he did that.”

”But looking at it now, I can’t get those shares either.”

”My uncle is now the chairman of the company and holds the most shares. It’s basically impossible for me to get back the portion that belongs to me.”

Mentioning the issue of her equity, Lin Lan couldn’t help but sigh.

Indeed, based on the subsequent conversation between her and Shen Zhou, Shen Zhou had completely sorted out the sequence of events.

At the same time, Shen Zhou learned for the first time from Lin Lan why his beautiful boss would leave her family and come to Magic City all alone to build a career.

Her own uncle, in order to prevent his niece from obtaining the shares that should have belonged to her...

Had actually set a condition for Lin Lan that she found unacceptable.

And this condition was an alliance through marriage with another powerhouse in the entertainment field!

This entertainment powerhouse was none other than the currently popular group in the Chinese entertainment market—the Wanhua Brothers Media Group.

Lin Lan’s uncle told her that if she wanted to get her shares back, it would be easy: she had to marry into the Wanhua Brothers Group at the cost of her own happiness.

And she had to help her uncle successfully obtain an investment from the Wanhua Brothers Group.
