Thunderstorm Asthma? I’ll Just Drain the National Power Grid!

89: Thunder Falcon Wings! From then on, even the heavens were chasing after me to feed me!“Squeak—”

The door closed behind him, cutting off the outside world’s sounds.

Zhou Weiguo’s office was very simple; besides a desk and a sofa set, there were almost no superfluous furnishings.

But Lin Yuan felt an invisible pressure.

Zhou Weiguo was sitting behind the desk, quietly watching them.

He looked no different from before, still with that unruffled demeanor.

But Lin Yuan knew that it was this unassuming middle-aged man in front of him who, with a single finger, had averted a disaster.

“Sit.”

Zhou Weiguo pointed to the sofa opposite.

Su Wanqing sat down as instructed, her posture erect.

Lin Yuan, however, didn’t move; he felt uncomfortable all over and just wanted to finish things quickly.

“Director Zhou,” Lin Yuan spoke first, “I’m not seriously injured, just a bit weak.”

He paused, putting on a look of lingering fear.

“Mainly, I suffered immense mental trauma. You didn’t see the scene; I almost heroically sacrificed myself for the organization.”

“So…”

Lin Yuan rubbed his hands, revealing a “you know what I mean” expression.

Su Wanqing: “…”

She silently turned her head away, not wanting to look at this embarrassing fellow.

Zhou Weiguo looked at him, a hint of a smile on his face.

“The organization will not forget your contributions.”

He didn’t beat around the bush.

“Twenty thousand contribution points have already been deposited into your account.”

Twenty thousand?

Lin Yuan’s mental abacus clicked.

It sounded like a lot.

But then he thought about almost being blown up, almost being crushed, and ending up with an incompatible charger… how did it still feel like a loss?

As if seeing through Lin Yuan’s little thoughts, Zhou Weiguo continued.

“contribution points are just the standard reward.”

“Given the uniqueness you displayed this time, and… the problems your body is currently facing.”

Zhou Weiguo’s words made Lin Yuan’s heart skip a beat.

He knew about his situation?

“I used my personal authority to apply for a special piece of equipment for you.”

Zhou Weiguo pressed a button on the desk.

“This equipment should be able to solve your current predicament.”

Lin Yuan’s eyes lit up.

Equipment that could solve his charging problem?

Such a good thing existed?

Soon, the side door of the office opened, and two staff members in white research coats pushed in a silver-white metal box, about half a person’s height.

The box was covered with complex wiring and indicator lights; it was clearly no ordinary item.

The two researchers placed the box in the center of the office, bowed to Zhou Weiguo, and then entered a series of complex passwords, fingerprints, and iris triple verification.

“Click—”

The box emitted a soft sound, and the lid slowly rose, revealing what was inside.

They were a pair of… folded wings.

The main body of the wings was dark gold, covered with black-purple patterns, full of technological and mysterious appeal.

Each feather seemed to be carved from a blade, its edges gleaming with cold light.

“Wings?”

Lin Yuan was stunned.

“Director Zhou, what… what do you mean by this?”

“Are you asking me to cosplay as a birdman?”

Zhou Weiguo stood up and walked to the metal box.

He reached out and gently stroked the surface of the wings.

“It’s called the Thunder Falcon Wings.”

“An A-grade strategic equipment. Currently, the entire Dragon Shield Bureau only has three of them.”

A-grade?!

Lin Yuan’s breathing stopped for a moment.

“It has two functions.”

Zhou Weiguo held up a finger.

“First, energy absorption and conversion.”

“The Thunder Falcon Wings’s wing structure can widely capture high-density energy freely roaming between heaven and earth, especially… lightning.”

Zhou Weiguo’s gaze turned to Lin Yuan.

“It can actively draw charges from the clouds, creating small-scale thunderstorms. In other words, as long as the weather permits, you can ‘charge’ yourself anytime.”

“Not only that, but it also has a miniature source essence core built inside, which can purify and store the absorbed energy, perfectly adapting to your current… special body.”

Lin Yuan’s Adam’s apple bobbed.

This… isn’t this custom-made for me?!

Want to charge? Just go to the sky?

Heaven itself is chasing to feed me?!

“The second function.”

Zhou Weiguo held up a second finger.

“Combat assistance.”

“The energy it stores can instantly burst forth, providing you with the ability of super-speed flight. At the same time, it can also resonate with your own lightning power, amplifying your attacks by at least 30%.”

“Most importantly, it can form an independent energy shield, providing you with final protection when your energy is depleted.”

After Zhou Weiguo finished speaking, he quietly looked at Lin Yuan.

Lin Yuan was already dumbfounded.

A flying device!

An external battery!

An attack amplifier!

And a life-saving shield!

Where was this a pair of wings? This was practically a mobile super cheat!

“Director Zhou…” Lin Yuan’s voice was a little shaky, “Such a good thing… you’re just giving it to me?”

He wasn’t stupid.

There was no such thing as a free lunch.

Especially not such a big, fragrant one.

“Of course, it’s not free.”

Zhou Weiguo’s expression became serious again.

He walked back behind his desk, his hands clasped together on the table.

“Lin Yuan, do you remember the order I had the communicator relay in the medical room?”

Lin Yuan was startled.

Medical room?

At that time, he was too busy complaining about the incompatible charger to remember any orders.

Next to him, Su Wanqing’s expression changed slightly.

She softly reminded him: “‘pandora’ Emergency Protocol.”

pandora?

Lin Yuan frowned.

That name alone didn’t sound like anything good.

“Exactly.” Zhou Weiguo nodded, his gaze deep as he looked at Lin Yuan.

“’pandora’ is one of the Dragon Shield Bureau’s highest-level classified protocols.”

Zhou Weiguo’s voice deepened.

“Rather, when the existing power system cannot cope with a ‘civilization-sustaining threat,’ it is to create, at all costs, a… weapon capable of confronting ‘gods’.”

Lin Yuan’s heart skipped a beat, and he instinctively took half a step back, waving his hands repeatedly.

“Wait, Director Zhou, what you’re saying makes me a little nervous.” He looked troubled, saying with a bitter face, “A weapon to confront ‘gods’… that burden is too heavy. I don’t want to live with such a heavy thing on my back.”

“I’m just a field agent who wants to live a stable life and earn a little money on the side.”

Zhou Weiguo looked at his evasive demeanor, showing no surprise, but rather softening his gaze a bit.

“I understand your concerns, Lin Yuan. Don’t think of things so extremely.”

“The ‘pandora’ project is not about turning you into a cold, hard weapon; it represents a kind of hope, a trump card. We won’t force you to bear the mission of saving the world right now.”

Zhou Weiguo leaned slightly forward, his tone solemn.

“We just hope that in the future, when a true crisis descends, when the Dragon Shield Bureau needs your unique power.”

“You can stand with us, and do your best to… provide help.”

“That will be enough.”
