Thunderstorm Asthma? I’ll Just Drain the National Power Grid!

66: The abyss opens its eyes, and a lord-level being descends! That eye.

It didn’t belong to any known biological category.

The moment it fully opened, an indescribable pressure poured down!

”Thud!”

”Thud!”

Inside the entire arena, nearly half of the participants, without even a thought of resistance, had their knees buckle and directly fell to the ground.

Their spirits were so crushed by this pressure that they couldn’t lift their heads.

Even the exotic beasts that were in the midst of battle froze in place, prostrating themselves on the ground, trembling.

As if worshipping their king.

”Lord... Lord-level...”

Su Wanqing’s voice trembled, her face drained of color.

As a C-rank Peak and an owner of the Ice Phoenix Bloodline, she could feel the terror of that power more clearly than anyone else.

However.

Something even more terrifying happened.

”Roar—!!!”

A Black-Scaled Flood Dragon closest to the rift suddenly let out a painful roar.

Something was wriggling beneath its scales, as if trying to break out!

”Rip!”

Black flesh was torn open, and a slime-covered tentacle emerged from its back!

Then came the second, the third... Across the entire battlefield, all exotic beasts that had been swept by the eye’s gaze began to mutate!

Some grew more heads, some had their bodies melt into a puddle of goo, while others were directly burst by energy!

The already chaotic battlefield transformed into an even more bloody and bizarre demonic realm!

The mutated monsters became even more frenzied; they no longer attacked the participants but began to furiously tear at and devour their own kind!

A bloody feast, affecting all non-human creatures, had begun!

And in the center of this human purgatory.

Lin Yuan remained motionless.

His body was trembling slightly.

Not from fear.

It was excitement!

It was a deep-seated desire from the Primordial Thunder God Body!

”Alert! High-dimensional energy reaction detected! Threat level: Lord-level (Initial Stage)!”

”Warning! This entity poses a fatal threat to the Host! Please evade immediately!”

Every cell in Lin Yuan’s body screamed ”danger” and ”run.”

But!

Beneath that danger signal, another even more surging emotion lurked!

It was greed!

Like a glutton who had starved for three days and three nights, suddenly seeing an unparalleled feast!

That eye, and all the energy it emitted... for the Primordial Thunder God Body, it wasn’t poison.

It was... an unprecedented great tonic!

Lin Yuan could feel the lightning power within him stirring restlessly.

It seemed to be emitting some primal desire, wanting to absorb that abyssal power into itself.

This was not merely a simple increase in strength.

It was more like a deep-seated transformation.

He vaguely felt that as long as he could devour the entity before him, the lightning he controlled would no longer be ordinary, but would undergo a qualitative sublimation...

”Hoo...”

Lin Yuan exhaled a long breath, suppressing the restlessness within him.

His gaze changed.

”Lin Yuan!”

Su Wanqing’s voice pulled him back to reality.

She forced herself to stand up, walked to Lin Yuan’s side, and spoke urgently.

”We must do something!”

”Hmm?” Lin Yuan raised an eyebrow.

”We must organize everyone who is still alive!” Su Wanqing pointed at the other participants who were also in shock and fear in the distance, ”Fighting alone, we will all die! Only by uniting do we have a glimmer of hope!”

Her thinking was very clear.

And very correct.

When facing a disaster of this magnitude, uniting all available forces is the textbook standard answer.

Not far away, several team members who hadn’t been directly crushed by the pressure also heard Su Wanqing’s words and cast hopeful glances.

”Right! Goddess Su is right!”

”Let’s join forces! And fight it!”

”Everyone, come quickly! Gather!”

However.

Lin Yuan merely glanced at them, then shook his head.

”It’s useless.”

His voice was very soft, yet exceptionally clear.

”What?” Su Wanqing was stunned.

”I said, it’s useless.” Lin Yuan repeated, a hint of impatience in his tone, ”Organize? Look at them.”

He raised his chin.

”Half of them are too scared to even stand up.”

”The other half are fighting individually, struggling to even protect themselves.”

”Your so-called ’organization’ will be scattered by those mutated monsters before it can even form any fighting power.”

Lin Yuan’s words were like a bucket of ice water poured over everyone’s heads.

Though cruel, it was the truth.

”But... we have to try!” Su Wanqing gritted her teeth, saying unwillingly, ”If we don’t try, then we truly can only wait for death!”

”Who said we’re waiting for death?”

Lin Yuan suddenly smiled.

He turned his head and looked at Su Wanqing, that smile carrying an inexplicable meaning.

”You’re right, fighting alone will lead to death.”

”But.”

”The more people, the faster they die.”

”You...” Su Wanqing was angered by his twisted logic.

”This is an individual competition, not a team competition.” Lin Yuan put away his smile, his expression returning to calm, ”From the very beginning, we were competitors.”

”What time is it now! And you’re still thinking about individual competition!” Su Wanqing simply couldn’t understand his thought process.

”Precisely because it’s this time, it’s even more important to distinguish the situation.”

Lin Yuan’s gaze was firmly fixed on the eye in the sky.

”That guy’s target isn’t us little fry.”

”It’s transforming this space; it’s selecting... the strongest ’nourishment’.”

”All of us combined aren’t even enough to fill its teeth.”

Lin Yuan’s words made Su Wanqing’s heart sink little by little.

She realized that although Lin Yuan’s words were harsh, his judgment of the situation was terrifyingly accurate.

”Then what... do you plan to do?” she asked subconsciously.

”What to do?”

Lin Yuan twisted his neck, his bones emitting a series of crisp cracks.

”Of course...”

”Before it eats us, I’ll eat it first.”

Su Wanqing thought she had misheard.

Eat it?

Eat a Lord-level monster?!

Was he crazy?!

Before she could react.

”Crackle—!”

Dazzling lightning erupted!

Lin Yuan’s body transformed into a purple bolt of lightning, without the slightest hesitation, going against the flow of all fleeing people.

He charged straight towards the direction of that eye!

All alone!

”Lin Yuan!”

Su Wanqing cried out in alarm.

Everyone who witnessed this scene was stunned.

What did they see?

When everyone else was thinking about how to escape, how to unite to survive.

Someone actually... actively charged towards the source of despair!

That purple electric light streaking through the blood and darkness was like the only spark in the night.

Tiny, yet incredibly resolute.

Lin Yuan’s speed was at its extreme.

Lightning Step was fully activated!

He didn’t bother with the mutated monsters blocking his path.

Any monster that came within three meters of him was, without exception, torn to shreds by the violent currents!

In this way, amidst a myriad of enemies, he carved out a path of death leading to the sky!

Su Wanqing stood rooted to the spot, staring at the increasingly distant figure.

In her mind, only Lin Yuan’s earlier, seemingly fantastical words remained.

”...I’ll eat it first.”
