Reborn in the Eighties as a Housewife with a Space

Chapter 1071: Chapter 1065: Buying a Haunted House_1 Chapter 1071: Chapter 1065: Buying a Haunted House_1 When Qin Lei arrived at the village chief’s house, the chief was slaughtering a chicken. This made Qin Lei feel like his timing was off. But today was New Year’s Eve. If he didn’t come now, it would be the New Year after noon, and no one would be available to assist with this matter.

“What’s up, Chief?” Seeing the chief busy with the chicken, Qin Lei walked up to him and asked.

“Oh, it’s you, Qin Lei. You here for something?” The chief seemed surprised to see Qin Lei at this time. Didn’t Qin Lei need to be preparing for the New Year’s celebrations too?

“If I’m here, I definitely need something. Otherwise, I wouldn’t choose to come at this hour,” replied Qin Lei with a smile, jesting.

“Well, spill it. I’m listening. As you can see, I don’t have much free time. Grab a stool and sit down while you talk. I need to finish up quickly for the New Year’s prayers.” The Chief continued his work without pausing. Everyone in the village understood each other’s temperament.

“Alright then, I’ll get straight to the point.” Seeing that the Chief was truly busy, Qin Lei forewent formality.

“Go ahead. I know how busy you are.” The chief continued to clean the chicken feathers.

“It’s busy work making ends meet. Today, I came here to talk about something – I want to buy granny’s house.” Qin Lei revealed his purpose.

“Qin Lei, you know as well as I do about that house. So many people have wanted to buy it, yet none have been successful. Are you sure?” The chief was taken aback; he didn’t expect Qing Lei would mention this.

“Yes, I am sure. You know about the recent earthquake in XX County, right? My son-in-law is a soldier, and he and my daughter went to help with the relief efforts. They rescued a pregnant woman who unfortunately went into labor and broke her leg. Qin Xue felt sorry for her and brought her back home. A woman who just gave birth can’t live in someone else’s house, so we thought about granny’s house. There are rumors that it’s haunted, which would be alright for a midwife who is not afraid of ghosts. The heavy Yin energies from both shouldn’t conflict.” Qin Lei explained the situation, lest village gossip start that his family has come into wealth.

Although Qin Lei was not afraid of snide remarks, living in such a close-knit village where everyone knew everyone else, it was better to avoid gossip.

“I see, that makes sense. Originally, the house was priced at US$100. After all the hassle, the price dropped to US$80. If you are sure about it, I’ll get you the keys later,” understood the Chief. He knew that Qin Lei’s wife was also someone they took in, so he did not find it strange that Qin Lei’s family would do such a thing.

“Thank you, Chief. But could you also write a document for me? After all, I am buying this house to take in a pregnant woman. Whatever happens in the future will be the responsibility of my family. This way, we can avoid any unexpected complications.” Qin Lei knew that the chief would agree.

The house had changed many hands but remained unsold. Keeping it might lead to potential liabilities, with no one getting any money. But selling it, although not fetching much, would bring in a communal fund. This fund could be used to support village students in university or as expenses for the elderly, saving everyone from fundraising. Therefore, everyone hoped that the house would be sold.

“Of course, that can be arranged. I know there are a few miscreants in our village, but we all have roots here; it’s not my place to say much. ” The chief understood what Qin Lei meant. If Thunder wanted to take the house and had an agreement written, it only seemed fair. The house had already passed through so many hands without being sold after all.
