Global Grave Digging: My Reward Increased Ten Thousand Times

28: Targeted by thievesIt was already past eight in the evening.

Aunt Chen and Lin Mengzi were still tidying up in the yard.

Lin Mengzi wanted to see if she could get the undead to do chores like washing clothes, mopping, and sweeping.

Unfortunately, these undead currently lacked intelligence; simple carrying was fine, but anything more complex was beyond them.

It seemed that, according to her skill settings, these undead were only good at fighting.

Their strength was too great; clothes were torn to shreds after just a few washes.

Lin Fei lay down in the house.

He opened his phone and accepted friend requests from three soldiers and two landmine girls.

”Soldier Xu Zhengyang: Boss, you finally added us!”

”Soldier Xu Sanduo: Greetings, Boss! Loyalty!”

”Soldier Li Shun: Loyalty!”

”Lin Fei: I was busy with some things after returning to reality.”

”Xu Zhengyang: Boss, um, would you mind telling us where you live? We want to move near you so we can team up together in the future.”

”Lin Fei: Can you tell me about your situation?”

”Xu Zhengyang: Boss, we are all retired soldiers. We used to work for a multinational security company in the Far East. Since the Node Tower appeared, things have become more chaotic here. Several security groups have come from the trial world to reality, so we decided to leave.”

”Xu Sanduo: Yes! Boss, how are things on your side?”

In reality, Lin Fei could feel that these people were very simple and honest.

Just as he was thinking about how to respond to the three of them.

Thump, thump, thump!

The blue paint on the orphanage’s iron gate, which was already half-faded, was being pounded so hard that it shook the ground.

The sound was rough.

Thud, thud, thud!

Clearly, the person at the door harbored strong malice.

The warm atmosphere in the courtyard was instantly shattered by this uninvited guest.

Aunt Chen frowned and was about to put down the clothes in the washbasin to go see.

”Aunt Chen, I’ll go,” Lin Mengzi said.

Lin Fei also flipped over and lightly jumped down directly from the third-floor window.

His eyes were a little cold.

To be frank, he had already killed no fewer than fifteen people in reality.

Yet, someone so blind dared to come to his orphanage.

He and Lin Mengzi walked towards the main gate together.

Pulling open the bolt, three Jinbei vans and a Toyota Prado were parked outside the door.

Dozens of thuggish men stood at the entrance.

The leader was a bald man with a scorpion tattooed on his neck, a face full of rough features, and a cigarette dangling from his mouth. He eyed Lin Fei up and down with a fierce gaze.

Lin Fei noticed that all these people had guns tucked into their waistbands.

The appearance of the Node Tower had indeed made the world chaotic.

Originally, firearms were controlled items, and it was not easy to obtain them.

But now, even a high school student could go to a shop next to the Node Tower and get a whole set of firearms and weapons.

”Tsk tsk, this girl is really spirited!” The bald man exhaled a smoke ring, his attitude arrogant, his eyes leering at Lin Mengzi.

Lin Fei said coldly:

”What are you here for?”

”Heh heh! I heard you struck it rich! You installed solar panels and heating in this dilapidated place!”

Another yellow-haired thug chuckled and leaned in, ”What, did you pick up some treasure in the trial world?”

”State your business!” Lin Fei’s voice was flat.

”Damn, you’re pretty arrogant, kid?” The scar-faced man next to the bald man stepped forward, pointing at Lin Fei’s nose.

”It’s late at night, and I don’t want to waste time with you.”

”Are you someone who can speak for this place? Call your orphanage director out!”

Aunt Chen also came to Lin Fei’s side. Seeing the group of uninvited guests at the door, a look of fear immediately flashed across her pretty face.

Lin Mengzi gave her a reassuring look.

Only then did Aunt Chen muster her courage: ”I am the director of this welfare home.”

”Cough cough, the land here is good! It even produces beauties!”

The bald man licked his tongue, smiling wickedly.

”Cough cough, Director, we have an account, shouldn’t we settle it?”

Aunt Chen’s expression was puzzled; she never remembered having any contact with the other party.

”Let me put it this way, this land where you live has always been ours.”

He pulled out a brand new land deed from hisPregnant and waved it in front of Lin Fei.

”See? This is called a land deed!”

”The land occupied by this orphanage is all ours. You built on our land without permission, which constitutes an illegal structure!”

Lin Fei glanced at the so-called land deed.

It was absolute nonsense. He had lived here for over ten years, and that land deed was probably just printed by a fax machine.

”According to the rules, you have to pay rent.” The bald man grinned sinisterly, ”But our boss is kind-hearted.

How about this, we’ll give you a discount, thirty thousand killing coins a year.”

”Also, what you owe from the previous decades must also be paid back, principal and interest, let’s just say one million killing coins.”

He patted the pistol on his waist.

It could be said that ever since he had this thing, it had given him great confidence.

”Either pay the money, or tomorrow we’ll bring people and demolish this broken place!”

Lin Fei understood in his heart.

As the saying goes, don’t show off your wealth.

He and his elder sister had caused quite a stir by installing solar panels and heating in the orphanage.

Ultimately, it attracted the covetous eyes of these shameless local thugs.

Such crude extortion methods were common in the slums.

Aunt Chen clenched her fists: ”Every brick and tile here was put together by the kind-hearted people from the surrounding neighborhoods and several streets back then.

And there was government approval back then; I’ve never heard that this land belonged to you.”

”Pfft!” The bald man sneered, ”The government from back then is long gone. Now, the governor of New Jeju is a foreign dignitary sent by the Lighthouse Country.”

”You’re talking about the government from back then, what kind of joke are you making!”

Luo Country, where New Jeju is located.

Is a small country.

And in this world, a country losing its sovereignty inevitably entails losing the rule of law.

And without the rule of law, the common people in that place will inevitably lose their dignity.

Lin Fei turned his head and gently said to Aunt Chen:

”Aunt Chen, let me speak.”

”You want thirty thousand killing coins a year?” A faint, almost imperceptible curve appeared at the corner of Lin Fei’s mouth.

”And you want us to pay an additional one million.”

”What? Too much?” The bald man thought he was scared and his arrogance grew, ”Then two million!

If you’re short one cent, tomorrow your orphanage will be turned into ruins!”

”Which gang are you from?” Lin Fei asked.

The bald man thought Lin Fei was scared and proudly patted his chest.

”Remember, in this area, our Black Scorpion Gang calls the shots!”

”Got it.” Lin Fei nodded, ”But you have to sign a contract with me. I’ll go with you, and as soon as you give me the contract, I’ll give you the money immediately.”

”Good! You’re sensible!” The bald man retrieved the land deed with satisfaction.

”Follow me, get in the car.”

Lin Mengzi said, ”Lin Fei, I’ll go with you.”

”Okay.” Lin Fei nodded.

Aunt Chen said worriedly, ”Little Fei, Meng Zi.”

Lin Mengzi smiled, without the slightest fear: ”Aunt Chen, we’ll get the contract and be right back, don’t worry.”

After speaking, the bald man led a group of his subordinates, swaggering into the car.

Lin Fei and Lin Mengzi also sat in the back seat of the large van.

In the slum’s night, the alleys were deep and the streetlights dim.

Several cars.

After many twists and turns, they finally entered a small building that looked like a stronghold.

The building was brightly lit, and faint sounds of noisy chatter and mahjong tiles clattering could be heard.

The thug said, ”We’re here, get out of the car.”

Lin Fei and Lin Mengzi were led into the small building.

A mixed smell of sweat, tobacco, and industrial alcohol assailed them.

The first-floor hall had been converted into a casino-like establishment.

It was smoky and chaotic.

Dozens of men, bare-chested or wearing dirty tank tops.

Were gathered around several tables, shouting and slapping the tables while playing Pai Gow.

Some machetes and iron rods were piled in the corner.

Several people were smoking, watching the card games, and acting as guards.

When Lin Fei and Lin Mengzi entered, the noise quieted down a bit.

Many lustful glances were cast their way, especially lingering on Lin Mengzi.

”Boss! We’re back!”

The bald man walked into a small office-like room within the partition.

”How was it?”

”Heh, you can rest assured when I handle things. That kid wants a contract.”

”Good, then give him a contract.”

Afterward, the bald man respectfully withdrew from the room.

He found a sofa and sat down, crossing his legs. The yellow-haired thug next to him immediately offered him a cigarette.

”Go get him a contract.”

”Yes.”

Soon, a newly printed lease contract was brought out.

”Kid, the contract is right here.”

”How much are you prepared to pay first?”

Lin Fei looked around, taking in the entire layout of the hall and the distribution of personnel.

Approximately forty-five assorted thugs, mostly with pistols, and only a few rifles; their firepower configuration was pathetic.

To him, these people were no different from chickens and dogs.

”Money, I don’t have any.” Lin Fei spoke calmly.

”What did you say?!” The bald man suddenly stood up from the sofa, his face dark, ”Kid, are you fucking playing with me?!”

The other thugs in the hall also stood up, gripping their weapons, ready to teach Lin Fei a lesson.

”I didn’t come here to give money.” Lin Fei’s mouth curved.

”I came to recruit people.”

”Recruit people? Recruit your mom’s people!!”

Before the bald man could finish cursing, Lin Fei moved.
