Ultimate Series, Past Lives Revealed

165: growing upAfter Daoist Master Li adopted Li Jianyi, he felt somewhat at a loss facing this crying infant.

After all, he usually only immersed himself in cultivating the Dao, and knew nothing about how to care for a baby.

Thus, Daoist Master Li decided to go down the mountain to seek advice from the villagers.

On this day, Daoist Master Li carried Li Jianyi to the village at the foot of the mountain.

The villagers were very curious when they saw the little baby in Daoist Master Li’s arms, and they all gathered around.

Daoist Master Li explained his situation to everyone and asked for advice on how to care for the baby.

The villagers were all very enthusiastic, each offering their own suggestions and experiences.

From that day on, everyone knew that Daoist Master Li had a little Disciple.

The villagers held great respect for Daoist Master Li and also took a special liking to this adorable little baby.

They not only enthusiastically helped Daoist Master Li care for Li Jianyi, but also often brought food and daily necessities.

And so, under everyone’s care, Li Jianyi ate from many households and grew strong day by day.

Five years later, Li Jianyi had grown into a clever and lovely little boy.

Daoist Master Li felt it was time to formally begin teaching him the Dao, to pass on his Legacy.

One day, Daoist Master Li called little Jianyi before him and said with a serious expression, ’Starting today, you will learn the Dao from me. This will be your means of livelihood in the future! Do you understand its importance?’

Little Jianyi blinked his big eyes, looked at his master, his cute little face full of seriousness, and replied crisply, ’Yes, master, I will definitely not disappoint you!’

Daoist Master Li nodded with satisfaction and continued, ’To learn the Dao well, you must first have a strong body. So, starting today, you must get up every morning to exercise, and in the afternoon, you will learn to read.’

Hearing this, little Jianyi’s originally excited face immediately fell a bit, and he mumbled, ’Master, can you leave me a little time to play?’

Daoist Master Li patted little Jianyi’s head, smiled, and said, ’As long as you study well, I will naturally give you time to play.’

Little Jianyi sighed helplessly and said, ’Alright, master, I understand.’

Little Jian had a sudden idea and suddenly asked, ’Master, then today shouldn’t count, right?’

Daoist Master Li looked at little Jian’s sly smile, smiled helplessly, and said, ’You, always playing little tricks. Alright, today doesn’t count. Go play, we’ll start tomorrow.’

Upon hearing this, little Jian immediately cheered and excitedly shouted, ’Yay! Thank you, master!’

Before the words even finished, he dashed off like a wild horse freed from its reins, disappearing from Daoist Master Li’s sight in the blink of an eye.

Daoist Master Li watched little Jian’s receding figure, a doting smile on his face, and gently shook his head.

He sighed inwardly, this child is truly innocent and carefree.

However, when his gaze fell upon himself, the smile gradually faded, replaced by a trace of worry.

He murmured to himself, ’Jianyi, you must grow up quickly. Your master’s time is already running short.’

Daoist Master Li originally did not want to teach Jianyi the Dao, because those who follow the Dao often inevitably reveal some heavenly secrets while helping others.

And revealing heavenly secrets is a major taboo in the Dao, which can incur backlash and punishment from the Heavenly Dao.

To offset these negative effects, one needs to accumulate sufficient Karma.

This is also why the Daoist temple is so dilapidated—Daoist Master Li has always been silently doing good deeds and accumulating virtue for others to mitigate the possible punishment.

However, no matter how much Karma Daoist Master Li accumulates, it is difficult to offset so much backlash and punishment.

Now, Daoist Master Li deeply feels that his remaining lifespan is very limited, only five years left.

Therefore, Daoist Master Li knows that time is urgent and can no longer be delayed.

What worries him most is Jianyi, because he truly cannot rest easy about this child he raised.

Daoist Master Li understands that only by letting Jianyi embark on his own path is the best arrangement for him.

Daoist Master Li sincerely hopes that Jianyi will not repeat his own mistakes.

He once, because he had some ability, looked down upon the Laws of the Heavenly Dao and wantonly revealed heavenly secrets.

And it was precisely this behavior that led to him now facing such severe backlash and punishment.

The reason Daoist Master Li has been able to hold on until now is entirely due to Karma.

This Karma has somewhat alleviated the suffering he endures, but it cannot fundamentally solve the problem.

[Silver Time-Space Cao Cao: Isn’t that very painful? Sometimes knowing too much isn’t a good thing!]

[Gold Time Dimension Wang Dadong: Then what’s the use of having these skills?]

[Gold Time Dimension Hao Jiaqi: Silly, to protect yourself, and you can protect others too, you don’t necessarily have to speak to use them!]

[Gold Time Dimension Wang Yase: Revealing heavenly secrets refers to blatant hints and explicit indications. If you only give a side reminder, it doesn’t count as revealing, right?]

[Iron Time Dimension Huyan Jue Luo Xiu: There are still smart people, after all, not everyone is Dadong!]

[Gold Time Dimension Wang Dadong: Hey, Xiu, are you making fun of me?]

In the Gold Time Dimension and Iron Time Dimension, those familiar with Wang Dadong couldn’t help but chuckle; Xiu can joke too!

[Copper Time Dimension Evil Girl Group: Oh, so it’s like riddles, huh!]

[Silver Time-Space Ma Chao: It feels very tiring. For example, if Daoist Master Li sees a good person who is about to face great misfortune, he can’t tell them directly. If he says it, they’ll think he’s a fraud! So how do you give a side reminder?]

[Silver Time-Space Zhang Fei: Just say there’s danger and give them a protective talisman!]

[Gold Time Dimension Heartbreak Man: What Zhang Fei said is good. If they don’t believe it, then that’s the will of heaven!]

[Gold Time Dimension Black Dragon: Nonsense about the will of heaven, don’t you understand that man can conquer heaven!]
