I Created a Containment Object at the Start, and Became a God

101: Do we have gods in our Dragon Kingdom?[The names and content cannot pass review, please bear with it.]

Just as global public opinion was thrown into division and frenzy due to the Japanese Government’s announcement.

Within the central seat of power of the Dragon Country, separated only by a narrow strip of water.

Inside a top-secret conference room, the lighting was soft, yet it could not dispel the heavy pressure hanging in the air.

The Dragon Head of the Dragon Country slowly put down the top-secret brief regarding Japan’s “Declaration of Deities,” raised a hand to rub his tightly furrowed brow, and his deep gaze swept over the five people seated across from him.

These five were the heads of the Dragon Country’s most mysterious institution—the Bureau of Anomalous Affairs Investigation.

Director Zhao Hongchang, and four Deputy Directors, including Lei Zhen.

“Comrade Hongchang, and everyone,”

“Let’s hear your thoughts,” the Dragon Head’s voice was steady, yet carried a hint of imperceptible fatigue.

“Regarding this... grand spectacle of the Japanese Divine Nation’s Advent put on by our eastern neighbor.

They claim that the Eight Million Deities, especially Amaterasu Omikami and Tsukuyomi no Mikoto, are the unique guardian gods of the Yamato people. How credible do you find this?”

Investigation Bureau Director Zhao Hongchang furrowed his brows, pondered for a moment, and was the first to speak, his tone heavy:

“Dragon Head, the crux of the problem might not lie in the authenticity of the Island Nation’s myths and legends themselves.

According to them, the concept of the Eight Million Deities originates from animism—that mountains, rivers, and plants can all be gods. I see this as a form of pantheistic belief.

The core issue is: what is the true purpose of the Japanese Side choosing this moment to publicly claim and attempt to awaken these specific Divine Entities in the name of the nation?

The Aoi Shōta government is not foolish; they should know better than anyone the devastating consequences of casually opening Pandora’s Box.

Unless... they are confident they can control this power, or they have been pushed to the brink and forced to engage in a dangerous gamble.”

Lei Zhen snorted and interjected:

“Wolfish ambition never changes! Coupled with their recent provocations regarding the Yasukuni Shrine issue and their accelerated military movements toward National Normalization.

It’s hard not to suspect that this is a strategic step toward breaking free from the Post-War System and reshaping their so-called Divine Nation Status.

They may be attempting to use the banner of deities to re-coalesce extreme nationalist sentiment domestically, and even... seek divine legitimacy for more dangerous actions.”

Another Deputy Director, responsible for tracking overseas anomalous events, pushed up his glasses and added crucial information:

“According to assessments from our Covert Units and the Strategic Analysis Bureau, there are indeed multiple long-standing, high-level spiritual reaction foci across the Japanese Archipelago and surrounding waters.

Particularly in the Mount Fuji area and the depths of Ise Bay, abnormal signs of energy concentration and activation have recently been monitored.

Therefore, the possibility that a foundation exists within their mythology cannot be entirely ruled out.

But the key is whether these entities possess clear national attributes and a protective will, as they claim?

Observing the Outer Gods encountered globally, the vast majority are indifferent or even malicious toward human civilization.”

Zhao Hongchang nodded heavily, taking the floor, his tone growing even more serious:

“This is precisely our deepest concern. Dragon Head, you know that the reason our Sub-Bureau exists is because we are acutely aware that ancient entities beyond human comprehension indeed wander the depths of the cosmos and the crevices between dimensions.

We have had minimal contact with them. A few might be neutral or even slightly benevolent, but most... regard humanity as mere weeds.

Should these entities, especially those malevolent Deities, descend on a large scale, the consequences would be incomparable to an Unknown Life Form invasion.

We can still attempt to understand, confront, or even contain UMAs, but facing a true Divine Calamity, does human civilization have the power to resist? This is the real existential threat.”

He paused, his gaze sweeping over every colleague present before returning to the Dragon Head’s face:

“Japan’s action is tantamount to lighting a bonfire and shouting loudly in a dark forest.

They might think they are summoning a loyal family hound, but they are more likely to attract the Abyssal Behemoths that devour everything.”

The conference room fell into a dead silence, broken only by the low hum of the central air conditioning system.

The Dragon Head’s fingers unconsciously tapped the tabletop; every soft sound echoed in the hearts of those present.

He looked around at Zhao Hongchang, Lei Zhen, and the other five heads of the Bureau of Anomalous Affairs Investigation, asking in a grave and complex tone:

“Then... does our Dragon Country have gods of our own?”

After the question was posed, the conference room fell into a brief silence.

Zhao Hongchang and the others quickly exchanged glances, seeing the same gravity and a hint of... bewilderment in each other’s eyes.

Although the vast historical records and classics of the Dragon Country contain records of mythological creatures like Dragons, there are no records concerning the existence of gods.

Even in civilizations with equally long histories, such as Ancient Egypt and Ancient India, the modern concept of gods was only widely recognized after contact with the powerful entities from beyond Earth, known as the “Outer Gods,” in modern times.

Various human nations are more or less inextricably linked to these “Outer Gods,” and some countries have even established forms of cooperation or contractual relationships.

The Dragon Country is no exception, and this led to the creation of the “Gitu,” who can borrow the power of the Outer Gods. Bai Xi, who previously participated in handling the Three Wise Monkeys incident, is a Gitu of the Outer God Gesaraal.

At this moment, the Dragon Head seemed to recall something, and his gaze sharply turned to Lei Zhen:

“Comrade Lei, I recall that not long ago, you led a team that successfully thwarted a so-called Divine Birth, the target being the Three Wise Monkeys mentioned by the Japanese Side, correct? Can you confirm if they are the native gods claimed by Japan?”

Lei Zhen sat up straight and answered in a deep voice: “Reporting to the Dragon Head, there is currently no direct evidence suggesting a natural connection between them and the Japanese Nation.”

“In that case.”

The Dragon Head lightly tapped his finger on the tabletop, asking the most crucial question.

“What about the third-party entity that intervened—and arguably easily took over—that Divine Birth? How much do you know about it?”

All eyes immediately focused. Zhao Hongchang took a deep breath and took the floor:

“Dragon Head, I am directly following up on this matter.

According to the detailed report submitted by Comrade Lei Zhen, and the previous encounters of groups like Li Gang and Comrade Lin Cang with the Followers of the lord of the heavens, the third party that intervened this time is the mysterious entity known as the Thousand-Faced Oracle, who claims to be a Subordinate of the lord of the heavens.”
