Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 844: Greatest Hub

Based on the documentation in the guild, Veronica was certain that the town was still listed as private.

In other words, the town shouldnʼt be this bustling—much less have anyone entering and leaving the town freely.

”You looked confused,” Amidst her dazedness, Xu Feng suddenly patted her shoulder.

She quickly snapped out of her dazed, turned to him, and asked, ”Was the town always accessible?”

”Yes and no,” he responded. ”The town is not accessible to players, but itʼs always been open for merchants and traders.”

”Eh, then doesnʼt that mean the town has always been accommodating NPCs?” Confused, Veronica raised an eyebrow. ”Why did you sign a contract with Jessica if you planned on accommodating them from the start?”

Her question was soon answered when Xu Feng simply shrugged his shoulders.

All along, Xu Feng was never against the immigrants flocking to his town.

What he was against was the low value of promoting it and letting them know.

However, if some of the immigrants among them decided to make their way toward the town, then it simply meant their influence was enough to learn the information.

After all, his town construction was the only information available to the nobles who could check on the geography. This kind of information database was only accessible to NPC Nobles, and not players.

Even if a player happened to gain noble status, they still werenʼt eligible to access the information database.

It was a restriction condoned by the System to prevent a player from learning another playerʼs establishment and ensuring fairness.

”If Jessica learned of this, then sheʼs going to make life difficult for you.” Veronica twitched her mouth and warned about the possible consequences in the future.

”Oh, she wonʼt.” Xu Feng chuckled softly. ”And even if she did, she wouldnʼt dare expose me.”

”Why—”

Before Veronica finished her statement, she quickly halted herself. She recalled their conversation and how Jessica reacted when Xu Feng revealed another level of the Arcane Vein.

Although Xu Feng didnʼt exactly lie about opening the town for NPCs, he also didnʼt reveal the matter to Jessica while listing his condition.

Nevertheless, that wasnʼt enough to make Jessica break the contract due to the Arcane Vein mining.

The profit generated from the Arcane Vein alone was enough to offset his little ploy. So even if Jessica learned about it, she would turn a blind eye to it and retain their harmonious relationship.

Meanwhile, Xu Feng didnʼt explain further when he noticed Veronica became speechless.

She was a veteran marketer—that credit must be given to her. However, in terms of interpersonal skills, Xu Feng was superior and understood it more than Veronica.

He contacted Carmen about his arrival and told her to meet him at the Town Hall.

The Town Hall was the administrative place and was heavily protected. There were numerous Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 Guards that Xu Feng had hired to patrol the surrounding buildings and the town itself.

This was the main factor in his gold coins being drained drastically.

These Guards were paid monthly, and the amount was no less than 20 gold coins. The weakest of the guards were paid 20 gold coins while the highest went as far as 100 gold coins.

Since he paid them for a whole year in advance, Xu Feng felt his heart bleeding.

As if that wasnʼt enough, Veronica was finally able to gain access to the hired guards.

Almost immediately, her eyes widened in astonishment at the cost of them.

”Weʼve only hired 42 guards, but it already cost us 19,200 gold coins?” She was alarmed by the price.

42 guards were respectively split into 25 Tier 1 Guards, 12 Tier 2 Guards, and 5 Tier 3 Guards.

Each of the Tier 3 Guards costs 100 gold coins monthly, and multiplying that by 12 for a year, the total sum came to 6,000 gold coins.

Tier 2 Guards cost 50 gold coins each month, and after the multiplication, their total came to 7,200 gold coins.

Finally, Tier 1 Guards had the lowest cost of 20, but when it was accompanied by a staggering 25 guards, the value still equaled 6,000 gold coins.

6,000 plus 6,000 plus 7,200 was 19,200 gold coins!

”Did we really have to spend that much on guards?” She cried aloud in disbelief.

That kind of amount of gold coins when translated to real-world currency was in the millions!

MILLIONS!

It wasnʼt just a few hundred dollars, but in the capital M for a million!

Without noticing, Veronicaʼs legs gave in as she plopped to the ground, her face completely pale and lifeless.

Despite being placed on many administrative tasks, she never knew how much revenue the Vanguard Guild had in store. She only had an estimated count of how much they earned monthly.

”Money is earned to be invested more for greater profit, Veronica.” Xu Feng suddenly cleared his throat and explained. The truth was that even he was bleeding internally to spend that much.

However, for the sake of the safety and stability of the town, he couldnʼt afford to skim his money on the guards.

Veronica nodded her head slightly and wondered aloud. ”Wait, so the town isnʼt actually open yet? Players already know about our town because of the system notification.”

”Of course, not.” He mused in response. He purposely enabled the system notification to rile them up and prompt them to ponder deeply. Since a certain group of people wanted to provoke him and mess with him, it would be rude to not give them a proper response.

Additionally, he wanted those who originally wished to remain neutral or lean close to his enemies to take a step back.

Was it going to be worth the trouble?

Knowing how vile these types of people were, the moment Xu Feng announced the location of the town, these people would scheme to snatch the town for themselves.

After all, Haven Wind Town was destined to become the greatest hub, and only a fool would let go of such juicy meat away from their mouth.

ʼOh right, Zhao Xin is probably waiting for my response.ʼ Xu Feng nearly forgot about her after having dealt with so many tasks.
