Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 840: Immigration Crisis

The immigration and competitive job market crisis was something players usually had to deal with in the real world.

After all, they had to compete with many other people for a few position slots in the company. It wouldnʼt be a surprise for one to be stuck in the job market application hell for years.

To prevent their sanity from being consumed by the constant rejection email, people often turn to things that entertain them, with most being video games.

Hence, games were like an escape path to be away from reality and the constant pressure and stress.

However, what if that same situation was happening in the very game that they tried to escape?

Where could they go to escape?

This was the immigration and job market crisis that was about to happen, and Xu Feng was not prepared for it to occur in his very own city.

In the past timeline, after the major event was over, many popular cities had players experiencing little to no quests, or their value being overlooked or outclassed by NPCs who migrated over after their city had fallen.

Star Falls City remained the same though because it wasnʼt popular and nobody had a great outlook on surviving there.

But the same could no longer be said thanks to Xu Fengʼs action. Not only did Star Falls City revitalize from its dreadful fate, but it was also promoted to a Primate City.

Therefore, the hottest city to migrate over to start afresh was Star Falls City, which lacked manpower from the beginning and was only barely covered thanks to the appearance of players.

ʼJeez, itʼs a good thing that weʼre eligible to become a representative guild.ʼ Xu Feng couldnʼt imagine the loss of damage in both revenue and reputation if they were to be swarmed by this influx of NPCs as well.

As he tried to enter the City Hall, he was unfortunately unable to succeed.

”Donʼt push and stay in your line.” One of the NPC shouted angrily. They had been waiting in the line for ages, so it was natural they would be displeased by someone trying to skip the line.

Although some were eager to resort to violence, they didnʼt dare to actually go through with it. Otherwise, their chances of being accepted into the city might be rejected in an instant.

No city would risk inviting a person prone to violence no matter how amazing their ability was. Not to mention, if their ability was extremely common in the current sea of crowds.

Meanwhile, Xu Feng was struck with a dilemma. Without going through the front door, he tried to deter his path to enter through the back door, only to realize it was equally filled with NPCs.

Unfortunately for them, the back door was locked, prompting those who arrived at the door to give up eventually.

ʼGreat, where am I supposed to go?ʼ He was certain that the Adventure Association would only be filled with more people than the City Hall.

In other words, it didnʼt even matter where he wanted to go, the building itself would be blocked by the NPCs.

Without a choice, Xu Feng could only utilize his noble status. Despite the influx of NPCs, there were equally a lot of players in the vicinity.

Thus, he didnʼt wish to expose himself and wanted to quietly enter to get the procedure done.

Alas, fate had other plans for him. He could only expose himself and go loud and proud about his entrance.

Thankfully, just before he did it, his message notification resounded and Xu Feng quickly opened it.

Vortex Viper: Guild Leader, Jessica from the Adventure Association arrived at our Guild Residence. She mentioned that she wishes to meet with you as soon as possible.

The message from Veronica was great news, but also frustrating at the same time.

ʼShe couldnʼt have appeared from the start?ʼ He twitched his brows. Had she shown up early, then he wouldnʼt have to go through the ordeal.

Of course, that was just him ranting because if he hadnʼt, then he wouldnʼt have noticed the immigration crisis looming over him.

Exhausted, Xu Feng no longer complained and tapped on his guild emblem to trigger the teleportation to the Guild Residence.

So long as the player was within the range that the Guild Residence enabled, the player could always teleport and return to their Guild Residence.

Not only does this feature help save a lot of time, but it also helps save the guild membersʼ wallets from being forced to repeatedly purchase Return or Teleport Scroll.

Sometime later, Xu Feng arrived at a designated room within the Guild Residence. For a Guild Leader such as him, he naturally had his own amazing room— the same goes for those in the higher ranks.

As for those with only a rank of Member and below, they would only appear in the lobby.

After all, the rooms were precious and even those at the Elite Rank needed to compete with each other in terms of weekly contribution to be qualified to stay.

By the time Xu Feng went downstairs, he was quickly greeted by the sight of a fatigued Jessica.

Her face was rather pale, and she appeared to have her soul sucked out of her body.

”Ah, youʼre here.” Jessicaʼs eyes brightened as soon as she spotted Xu Feng walking down the stairs.

She stood up from her couch and dashed straight to him.

Alarmed, Xu Feng nearly instinctively tried to dodge away, only to feel his movement being temporarily restricted. Although it was restricted to only a brief second, that time alone was enough for Jessica to wrap her arms around his back.

She squeezed him tightly as she exclaimed, ”I can finally load off a big truck of work from my back.”

ʼAish, damn it!ʼ Xu Feng cursed silently. His face might be covered by the mask, but if anyone were to take it off, then they could see him expressing discontent and frustration.

The tone and expression Jessica used were precisely the same as those vile bosses who found their pushover employees to overload them with work while they remained carefree and enjoyed life.
