System vs Rebirth

Chapter 1490: Continue

”Ooohhhh!” The soldiers cheered after seeing the fleeing enemies.

Raven took this opportunity to launch a full counterattack, decimating all the demons.

Meanwhile, Noel was in a trance as he heard Milinda’s voice again.

”My child.”

”Grandma... You haven’t left yet? Thank you for assisting me today. Without you, the situation might be a bit dangerous. I won’t even be able to become a spirit king...”

”You haven’t officially become a spirit king yet, you know that, right?”

Noel didn’t answer her, but he definitely could feel it. While it was true that he had managed to harness the power of the spirit king, his injury and the current state of his foundation were like a disaster. He had to recuperate first and solidify his power before officially becoming a spirit king.

”My child. What is your goal in life?”

”My goal... I just wish to become a free person, free from everything. I just want to walk wherever the wind carries me and see all kinds of wondrous things.”

”I see. Do you know that once you fuse with Ardagan, you can stop the influx of demons in this world?”

”I don’t know, but I’ve had this feeling ever since I met you back then.”

”My descendant is truly clever. Do you know that there are worlds beyond this world?”

”Of course. Where else are those demons coming from?”

”I guess I don’t have to hide it anymore. My name is Milinda Sirius. I followed my husband’s name and changed my name to Ardagan. I gave the name Alexander to my grandchild because I missed my brother.

”My brother was a human... who later became a being known as the Spirit God.”

”!!!” Noel widened his eyes in shock.

”There are lots of amazing things out there. Things that are beyond your imagination. Maybe in the future you will be able to meet me.”

”That might become an amazing adventure, but I’m not an irresponsible person. There will come a day when I begin my journey, but that is only after I have fulfilled my responsibility.”

”Hehe. As expected of my child. In that case, I will patiently wait for you.”

”Yes.”

”Then, this time for real, goodbye, my child.”

”Goodbye, Grandma.” Noel closed his eyes for a moment. He had never thought that the Ardagan family had a connection with the spirit god. It was no wonder that the spirit god gave Ardagan to this family. It might also be the reason why even the goddess that the Moon Temple worshiped treated him so well.

But this identity came with a responsibility. Noel knew that he had to keep the world safe from the hands of the demons, just like what Milinda did in the past.

”I will definitely come... no matter how long it takes.” Noel smiled before turning around. Noel vanished into thin air.

”!!!” Laufey and Raven turned around, finding Noel appearing. No, it wasn’t teleportation. Noel simply moved so much faster that their instinct and eyes had a hard time keeping up.

”My lord!” Laufey and Raven hurriedly fell down to their knees.

Noel nodded and said, ”My ship will immediately depart to Anna’s location. They can escape, but it also means they can attack the second target. The rest of the airships will remain and assist with the annihilation of the demons.”

”Ha!” Laufey and Raven acknowledged the order. Raven immediately relayed everything and disengaged from battle.

Noel then walked back to his quarters as if he was planning to wait there until they arrived.

Since Raven was the one commanding the battleship, Laufey chose to accompany Noel back.

However, the moment Noel reached his room, he stumbled to the ground as he spat a few mouthfuls of blood.

”Gaaaahhh!”

”My lord?!” Laufey panicked. Noel’s face had turned pale. It looked like the reason he had stopped earlier was just him recovering a bit of his condition so as to not make such a scene that would make his subordinates worry.

Noel waved his hand. ”I’m fine. The internal injuries are quite severe, but with my current strength, recovering shouldn’t be an issue.”

”My lord... that power...” Laufey remembered how Noel had wielded his power earlier. It was much different from what he had in memory.

Noel nodded calmly. ”Yes. Although this injury weakens me right now, I have officially stepped onto that stage.”

”!!!” Laufey gasped. As he expected, Noel had actually become a spirit king. However, his injury was quite concerning. The enemies would grow restless as well.

Since they were able to escape, it was clear that they would come one more time, gambling everything they had.

When they reappeared, they would most likely come as a demon king.

It would truly become the most important battle. Noel had to recover before that battle, and Anna might have to reach that step before that battle. This was their only chance to win.

”Don’t make a fuss. Let them think I’m alright.”

”Then, shall we spread the word about your advancement?”

”Not yet. We will start with a rumor. It’s time for us to be on the offensive.”

”!!!” Laufey smiled, excited. It was finally the time for a counterattack. This whole time, they had been the ones preparing for their attacks, so with Noel currently leading in terms of power, they could finally launch a counteroffensive. Even if an ancient demon stood in their way, Noel could defeat it in an instant.

But to do that, Noel had to recover first.

Noel paused for a moment. ”For now, let Raven take care of the command. Since he is out now, tell him to teach some officers about being a commander once we go back.

”As for Anna, I won’t make my appearance there. Make the people think that I’m observing their abilities. The people will definitely believe it after the show of strength earlier.”

”Understood.” Laufey nodded, looking a bit worried. ”Still, Madam Anna...”

”Yeah. Although the report only mentioned an ancient demon, the spirit transcendences under the demon king and the supreme devil will definitely come for her.”

”Are you... not worried about her?”

”No. Unlike me, her instinct is the best. She knows how dangerous this situation is and makes even more preparations than I can imagine. Anna... will win.”
