Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

”Fatty...!”

Hearing the woman’s words, the smile on Ancient Fang Sovereign’s face vanished.

As one of the nine Regents of the Sea Demon Kingdom, and himself a seasoned scholar of ancient civilizations, few would show Ancient Fang Sovereign such disrespect.

Especially within the Sea Demon Kingdom, where most Sea Demons had robust, well-proportioned builds. Even those in high positions rarely carried much excess weight.

So Ancient Fang Sovereign’s physique had always been a sore spot for him.

After being hit with such an abrupt, direct strike from Lin Yu, even though Ancient Fang Sovereign’s tolerance was considered good among Sea Demons and his depths ran deep, he still couldn’t quite hold it together, revealing clear malice.

But that malice lasted only an instant before he suppressed it.

”Hehe, I’d still prefer you call me by my name,” Ancient Fang Sovereign said with a smile again. ”Though Your Excellency comes from the Central Sea, this is the Sea Demon Kingdom after all. Our custom here is that when people first meet, they mostly address each other by name.”

Hearing Ancient Fang Sovereign’s words, Lin Yu nodded. ”Alright, then I’ll use a different name for you. Dead pig.”

”Pfft.”

Beside him, April couldn’t help but burst into silent laughter.

Ancient Fang Sovereign’s expression grew even uglier. ”You two are being a bit too impolite. Even if you come from the Central Sea...”

”Bang!”

Ancient Fang Sovereign didn’t even finish his threat before he was cut off.

And what cut him off was the door slamming shut.

Standing outside the door, treated like this, Ancient Fang Sovereign’s fury reached its peak in an instant.

But after his extreme rage, he didn’t lash out.

In the next moment, Ancient Fang Sovereign instead calmed down.

”Wait... could these two have sensed something?”

His visiting these two honored guests from the Central Sea was, of course, not out of any desire to befriend them. In Ancient Fang Sovereign’s eyes, these two from the Central Sea were already dead men.

Though the other party might be powerful and have connections reaching the heavens, within the Sea Demon Kingdom, especially here in the Sea Demon capital, even if they were big shots from the Central Sea, Ancient Fang Sovereign was confident he could kill these two humans.

Naturally, it wasn’t just for those Blood Coral Crystals, even though these two items were the Mermaid Kingdom’s most precious strategic resources, one of the essentials for maintaining and charging many ancient large-scale devices.

The Mermaid Kingdom’s annual export quota to other kingdoms was strictly controlled... if he could get two pieces, Ancient Fang Sovereign was confident he could give his family a massive advantage in the coming internal struggles within the Sea Demon Kingdom.

But Ancient Fang Sovereign hadn’t chosen to do this purely for his family.

His decision to agree to that fool Prince Kede’s request and move against two ”honored guests” from the Central Sea was because Ancient Fang Sovereign had keenly smelled the scent of ”war.”

As an unyielding war hawk, Ancient Fang Sovereign and the family behind him had long yearned to ignite a war in Pure Abyss that would reshape the Outer Sea’s balance of power!

Two people from the Central Sea died here. A merfolk prince hired the hit, a Sea Demon Regent accepted the contract, a Naga assassin carried it out...

By then, no matter what attitude the Central Sea took, the entirety of Pure Abyss would surely descend into chaos!

In Ancient Fang Sovereign’s view, the Sea Demon Kingdom now possessed the most fearsome fighting strength among all eight major races of Pure Abyss. Once chaos erupted, the Sea Demon Kingdom would ultimately suppress the other seven races and seize the greatest profits.

After all, the gods and god-blessed of the Central Sea rarely intervened in the Outer Sea’s power struggles.

Even if these two humans had lived in the Central Sea, Ancient Fang Sovereign didn’t think it was a big deal. He was no fool like Prince Kede, who had never seen the world and spent his whole life cooped up in his own territory throwing his weight around.

In his youth, Ancient Fang Sovereign had often ventured into various ruins for training, and he had also met wanderers from the Central Sea. He had a certain understanding of the mysterious Central Sea.

Most of those living in the Central Sea were of the Sea Beast clan, blessed and skilled in cuisine!

Humans had no standing there whatsoever.

So these two were certainly not important figures in the Central Sea.

Ancient Fang Sovereign clearly realized: this was not just an opportunity, but very likely a rare, invaluable opportunity.

His family, and many Sea Demons, all yearned to dominate the Outer Sea and become the noblest race in Pure Abyss!

And this was very likely the beginning of it all.

Therefore...

At this moment, Ancient Fang Sovereign was not letting the humiliation he’d suffered cloud his mind. This matter was of grave importance and could not afford a single misstep.

He left the corridor and returned to his private room.

”Sure enough, even if humans from the Central Sea aren’t as noble as the Sea Beast clan, they’re absolutely not comparable to the fools of the Outer Sea.”

”Though I don’t know exactly which step went wrong, since they’re already on their guard,” Ancient Fang Sovereign silently pondered, ”then it seems... we must act as soon as possible.”

For Ancient Fang Sovereign, canceling the assassination and changing the plan was absolutely impossible.

After all, even if the target was on guard, the meticulously cultivated Naga assassin could not possibly fail.

Moreover, though the other party seemed full of hostility toward him and appeared wary, they still swaggered about inside this auction house. To Ancient Fang Sovereign, this proved... they absolutely hadn’t realized he had already prepared a foolproof assassination.

”They seem to have arranged a meeting with the Sea Eye Sovereign, so let’s move the timing up to after the Sea Eye Sovereign arrives... we could even choose during the auction itself, so there will be ’witnesses’ who can see that it was the ’Naga’ who struck. Though in the end, evidence might still lead back to me, but the chaos before that will already be worth looking forward to.” Ancient Fang Sovereign leaned back on the sofa, patted the call bell beside him, and relaxed as he watched the dark shadow emerge beside him along with the rippling water. ”Get ready to move. After the Sea Eye Sovereign arrives, find an opportunity and take them out.”

”Ideally after the auction begins, but if a good opportunity presents itself before then, acting is also fine.”

Ancient Fang Sovereign gave his orders, and the dark shadow gave a slight nod. ”Understood.”

Then, the surrounding water rippled, and its figure once again dissolved into the undersea waves.

Watching the vanished figure, Ancient Fang Sovereign’s mood relaxed.

In his view, those two humans who had just humiliated him were already dead men.

”No wonder Kede wanted them dead. These two offending Prince Kede is truly no surprise.”

As Ancient Fang Sovereign lamented, he also began pondering what he should do after the assassination succeeded.

”In any case, first point the spearhead at the Naga... This Tide Summoning Festival, the Naga haven’t sent anyone particularly important, but a few formidable ones did come. Find a pretext to lock them up first and extract some benefits.”

”If the Naga discover something, then throw out the merfolk... Quite a few Mermaid Royals and nobles came this time. If Kede wants to escape guilt, threatening that fool a bit might even make him cooperate willingly.”

Thinking this far, Ancient Fang Sovereign’s mood grew ever more delighted.

He really was a genius. With just a single assassination, he could manufacture a full-blown chaos!
