Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

”So this 【Reusable Flavor Papers】 really isn’t just about summoning food here, it’s also an 【item】 that can flaunt one’s status.”

Although his other identities had used this 【item】 before, since 【Reusable Flavor Papers】 weren’t a unique 【item】, Lin Yu didn’t hold back from taking it out and using it openly.

This was one of his trump cards. Even without letting Hannah show herself, he still had enough 【items】 to prove his identity.

And such 【items】 weren’t limited to just the 【Reusable Flavor Papers】, there were also the 【Bliss Immortal Pot】 and the 【Banquet Pendant】.

Although Lin Yu used these two things often, he had never actually taken them out before. No one knew what they looked like.

Lin Yu even suspected that not a single player had noticed that any one of his identities possessed the ability to ”extract buffs from food” and ”store buffs.”

Of course, Lin Yu could also sense that... compared to the 【Reusable Flavor Papers】, the 【Bliss Immortal Pot】 and 【Banquet Pendant】 were a cut above in ”class.”

If he brought those out, Lin Yu feared Prince Kede would be so terrified he’d pee himself. They were in the water, everyone was too close, and Lin Yu had no desire to soak in the other’s urine.

Moreover, Lin Yu’s trump cards didn’t consist solely of 【items】 that could prove he really came from the ”Central Sea.”

Right now, what gave Lin Yu the most confidence was that he was stronger than all these merfolk guards combined.

The strongest among this group of merfolk was that ”Sword,” but his strength was only on par with someone who could rank in the top ten at the Black Marsh Blood and Fire Festival, or that Soul-Draining Vine in the Misty Islands.

Precisely because the other party had some real skill, this Sword should also be able to sense the fact that Lin Yu was very strong.

And... Lin Yu was glad that this Sword had brains, enough to realize what it meant for ”lofty status” and ”overwhelming power” to exist in the same person at the same time.

It meant Lin Yu could slaughter them, and probably wouldn’t have to bear any responsibility afterward.

Sword clearly understood this point very well.

If Lin Yu killed Kede and himself now, it would probably be just like what happened after the foolish prince Kede he served killed a Commoner of Baobol City. Condolences, Compensation, threats... and then, the sun rises as usual, the tide still ebbs and flows.

The Mermaid Royal Court and that Majesty certainly wouldn’t fall out with a strong one from the Central Sea, one suspected of being connected to a god, over the death of some distant cousin-uncle!

However...

Apart from Sword and Lin Yu, no one else understood the logic of this situation.

All that remained in everyone’s hearts was shock.

”Let’s go.”

Having secured the price of priority use of the teleporter, Lin Yu beckoned to April.

April was stunned for a moment, then followed.

”Yayu, you...”

In the end, she didn’t say anything more, only offering praise: ”You really are formidable.”

This 『First-Tier』 level was simply too terrifying.

Although she vaguely sensed that her teammate choosing to proactively provoke a merfolk prince definitely wasn’t a sudden fit of madness, that he must have something to rely on.

But she hadn’t expected things to escalate to this point either.

Under everyone’s gaze, the two entered the teleporter and waited for the teleportation node to begin charging.

Not a single person dared step forward to use this teleporter alongside the two.

Prince Kede’s expression was grim: ”Damn it... Why would such a terrifying fellow come to Baobol!”

Not only had he lost face in front of his own two children, he’d also let the entire rabble of Baobol City see him as a joke.

”I’ve long heard that the people of the Central Sea look down on others, that they lack respect for residents of the Outer Sea, but I never imagined it was true, a bully who throws his weight around, domineering and utterly rude,” Prince Kede cursed under his breath. ”Someone like this definitely won’t live long, won’t last, will get his retribution. A divine favor obtained by trickery for a moment certainly won’t last!”

As he cursed the other party like this, as if he truly foresaw the other’s early, sudden death, his mood improved considerably.

So he turned his head to look at Sword again: ”Sword, you idiot, you actually failed to investigate that a bastard from the Central Sea had come to our Baobol, I’m docking your pay!”

Afterward, Prince Kede still didn’t feel satisfied, and spoke again: ”And also... I’m going to keep raising taxes. These fools actually just stood here watching, without a shred of loyalty to me! They’re probably laughing at me in their hearts, gloating, damn these unruly commoners, these lowly peasants, I’ve still been too good to them. Next quarter’s taxes go up another five points!”

Having said this, Prince Kede finally felt the fire of resentment in his heart mostly vented.

And at this moment, his most beloved youngest son’s innocent, clear voice also rang out.

”It’s all right, Father, among those Commoners just now, the few who dared to show expressions of contempt and mockery, I’ve already memorized them. Later we’ll find an excuse to arrest them and torture them to death, and that’ll be that.”

Prince Kede was delighted: ”Good, truly worthy of being my son!”

He looked again at the figure within the teleporter, his mood now completely restored.

So what if they’re from the Central Sea, so what if they’ve gained some favor?

Aren’t they still just a human without territory? No matter how formidable she is, she’s only one person alone.

She will never experience the joy of collecting taxes and executing others!

Thinking this, Prince Kede realized something else.

It was inspiration drawn from his son’s words just now.

”Right, although in full view of everyone in Baobol I have no way to act against someone from the Central Sea, but once we reach the Sea Demon capital... a human dying on the Sea Demons’ turf, that’s all too normal!”

”After all, Sea Demons and humans are natural enemies. When the time comes, I can even frame the Sea Demons for it. That way, His Majesty will probably appreciate my actions, perhaps even promote me from city lord of Baobol to lord of a rich, bountiful patch of sea!”

”Even though she’s stronger than even Sword, I am a Mermaid Royal. I don’t need to compete with such a person in brute force and violence. So long as I have money and power, formidable violence will naturally be mine to command.”

”The people of the Central Sea still understand far too little about how our Outer Sea nations operate!”

This vast ocean had never lacked desperate men willing to do anything for money, and plenty of them were even quite strong.

The more Prince Kede thought, the more he felt his thoughts flowing smoothly.

”Heh heh, once we reach the Sea Demon capital, during the ’Tide Summoning Festival,’ I’ll let you know the price of angering a Mermaid Royal!”

He watched excitedly as the teleporter completed its activation, and the two figures in the middle vanished into its center.

Afterward, Prince Kede waved his hand.

”Let’s go, we’re taking the teleporter too!”
