Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Soon, Lin Yu and April once again entered the distinguished guest room of the auction house.

That Sea Demon manager still personally accompanied them, personally draining the seawater from the distinguished guest room and pumping in air carrying a built-in fragrance.

”You two wish to meet the Sea Eye Sovereign, is that right? It seems you already did your homework before coming... I imagine the Sea Eye Sovereign would be delighted to meet you both as well. After all, the Sea Eye Sovereign’s warmth, hospitality, and generosity are renowned throughout our Sea Demon Kingdom. I have already dispatched staff with a calling card to visit the Sea Eye Sovereign’s residence. Please wait a moment, you two.”

As the Sea Demon manager spoke, Lin Yu adjusted his sitting position on the soft sofa and gave a slight nod.

”Alright, then notify me once there’s news.”

As he spoke, the Sea Demon manager nodded. ”No problem, Your Excellency Yayu. Then I won’t disturb your rest any further.”

With that, the Sea Demon manager opened the double isolation doors and left.

April looked at the quiet room, breathed in the ”air” that was practically a luxury on the seafloor, and couldn’t help but sigh with emotion.

”I’m starting to approve of you, Yayu... Reputation really does bring privileges, and enjoying privileges is genuinely wonderful!”

Never mind whether it actually helped with the task the Marauders organization had assigned them, or whether it would cause extra trouble for achieving the clear condition...

At least in this moment, she was truly comfortable, lying in a room with pleasant temperature and breathing fresh air, a comfortable chair beneath her, seafloor specialty snacks on the small table beside her, and gentle classical music playing faintly in the background.

How was this the Death

Game? How was this completing the organization’s task?

Developed to this very moment, it had completely become a vacation!

Even though rationally she still felt this task was very dangerous, seeing all those high-ranking natives treat the two of them with such respect made it hard for April to muster any sense of crisis.

Indeed...

This was the Sea Demon Kingdom, and the two of them were practically about to blend in as distinguished guests of the Sea Demon Kingdom!

Even if Order sent some ruthless character, even if that idiot Mermaid Royal harbored a grudge and waited for revenge, what waves could they possibly stir up?

They had already seized the ”greater momentum” and the ”High Ground”!

If Order’s people or the merfolk wanted to sneak into this distinguished guest room, it probably wouldn’t be easy!

That Sea Eye Sovereign, who was said to possess many of the target items for their trip, the Mermaid’s Tears, could apparently be met very soon. The two of them didn’t even need to visit him themselves, the auction house’s higher-ups had directly gone to invite and negotiate with him on their behalf.

The ”Lost Treasure” needed to clear this dungeon didn’t seem like something difficult to collect under these circumstances.

All risks had been reduced to the ”minimum” limit.

April even couldn’t help but think.

”Could it really be that we’ll just complete the task and clear it just like this? In the end, Order’s people won’t even get to see our faces?”

If that were the case...

Then it seemed she really was just the ”free-riding winner” responsible for bringing ”Yayu” in!

Thinking of this, April couldn’t help but feel a bit gloomy, yet also a little secretly thrilled.

She quickly shook her head.

”No, I can’t be this optimistic... I still need to raise my vigilance.”

”The current situation is the result of favorable timing, terrain, and unity working together. Luck played a huge part. I can’t relax my guard or assume I’m safe just because of this.”

Thinking this, April rallied herself once more.

She sat up from the chair. ”Yayu, I think we can’t just wait idly like this. Although we’re waiting for the Sea Eye Sovereign’s reply, we shouldn’t waste the time either!”

Beside her, Lin Yu was chewing on small dried fish to replenish his stamina, trying to proc a buff, when he looked at April who had suddenly turned serious for some reason and was briefly stunned.

”It’s not that we can’t... but I feel that since the two of us are playing big shots from the Central Sea and our reputation is growing more and more exaggerated, maybe staying still and showing composure and calm would also be a good idea.”

Hearing Lin Yu say this, April, who hadn’t been all that firm to begin with, immediately hesitated. ”That seems reasonable too, but our time is indeed very precious...”

As April hesitated, Lin Yu pressed the advantage and continued analyzing. ”I think we should wait just a little longer. News that we’ve arrived at the auction house’s distinguished guest room has probably already spread by now. Quite a few people saw that Sea Demon auction house manager eagerly welcoming two humans. Anyone could guess it was us two.”

”And the auction’s distinguished guest rooms are all clustered together. Since I didn’t specifically emphasize that no one is allowed to disturb us, then it’s only natural that big shots would proactively come visit us first, right?”

”So, this period of time probably won’t be entirely wasted... From those powerful figures of Pure Abyss’s Outer Sea who come to visit, we might also be able to secure quite a few benefits and get some useful information.”

Lin Yu explained.

Hearing Lin Yu’s words, April wavered somewhat but still spoke up. ”Will there really be powerful figures coming to visit...”

The moment the words left her mouth, as if specifically to dispel April’s doubts, the distinguished guest room’s doorbell rang.

”Ding dong-”

A crisp, gentle sound rang out, followed by a mild, elegant, siren-song-like female voice announcement.

”Honored guest, you have a visitor at the door wishing to visit.”

The auction house manager had only just left, so it obviously couldn’t be that the Sea Eye Sovereign had news already.

And having emphasized it was another ”visitor,” it naturally wouldn’t be auction house staff either.

So then...

”There really are powerful figures coming to visit?”

April said in astonishment.

”Of course. People of high status, actually most of them can lower themselves far more than you’d imagine.”

As Lin Yu spoke, he stood up and walked to the door, opening it.

Then...

A burly Sea Demon, so broad he could practically be called wide, adorned with all sorts of beautiful pearls and seafloor agate decorations, looking extremely wealthy, appeared in Lin Yu’s field of vision.

He stood surrounded by a full eight attendants, filling up the corridor outside the distinguished guest room that had originally been quite spacious.

That broad-bodied Sea Demon looked at Lin Yu and revealed a smile.

”Respected Excellency, I presume you are the distinguished guest from the Central Sea. Allow me to introduce myself. I am the Regent of the Sea Demon Kingdom, heir to the bloodline of the Sea Demon’s upper seven clans, and one who has participated in the excavation of two ancient ruins. You may call me Ancient Fang Sovereign.”

”Might I ask whether you are that Excellency Yayu, or that Excellency April?”

Lin Yu looked at this fat, hypocritical Sea Demon whose fervent gaze concealed greed, and even a few traces of deeply hidden malice, and spoke flatly.

”I am Yayu.”

”Your name is a bit of a mouthful. I don’t really want to remember it... Tell you what, I’ll just call you Fatty.”
