Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

When Lin Yu stood proudly on the stage in his ”Heavenly Artisan” persona and received recognition from ’Sea Cucumber’ who had just fought over a dozen people without falling behind...

The way everyone in the audience looked at Lin Yu underwent a qualitative change.

Those Marauders members finally remembered...

Before ”Heavenly Artisan” suddenly fell from grace some time ago, beaten senseless by some newcomer named ’May’ who appeared out of nowhere, he had once been the most promising super rookie in the Henan Province branch.

Just as Lin Yu had said.

In this organization where strength was the only benchmark, when he previously claimed that ’May’ was very strong, no one would have believed him.

But now, if Lin Yu were to say the same thing again...

These Marauders members couldn’t help but wonder.

”That ’May May’... just what kind of monster is he?”

The level Heavenly Artisan had just displayed was already rare among First-Tiers.

And yet he had been rendered completely helpless by a First-Tier ’Doctor’.

Even Fish became interested.

”Ha, if that’s the case, if that guy joined Order, he might become someone who gives everyone headaches in the future!”

”Coincidentally, the Jiangcheng Chief position is still vacant. Maybe if we check back in half a year... he might have become Jiangcheng’s Chief.”

Fish jumped up from the sofa and took a step forward.

Though it was just one step, the next moment...

Fish had already appeared on the arena.

”Although you’re indeed very strong too, uncle... but precisely because you’re strong, that guy might be a troublesome genius.”

”I quite admire you,” Fish reached out and straightened Lin Yu’s collar, ”so... do you want me to help you out?”

Hearing Fish’s words, Lin Yu thought to himself that this was bad.

Admittedly, he did intend to restore the Heavenly Artisan identity’s reputation within the Marauders, and indeed planned to use demonstrating Heavenly Artisan’s strength to further elevate his other identities that had ”defeated” Heavenly Artisan.

But who could have expected the effect would be too good.

If Fish were to set her sights on him, at least on his current self... that wouldn’t be good!

Fortunately, there was still room for maneuver.

Facing Fish’s enthusiastic offer of assistance, Lin Yu shook his head.

”I appreciate your kindness, Deputy Chief... but this is my personal revenge.”

”They destroyed my home, burned down my house, and killed the few friends I cherished in this world.”

”I will always remember the frozen expressions of pain on their corpses,” Lin Yu slightly closed his eyes, ”Red Fuji, Little Ice, A-Kang, Ming-Zai... I admit we Players are a pitiful group living precariously from day to day. If they had died in the game or in a dungeon, I might only feel regret...”

”But they died outside, killed by those self-righteous bastards who came for profit and fame.”

”I cannot tolerate this... I will absolutely have my revenge!”

Lin Yu opened his eyes, the anger burning like flames in Heavenly Artisan’s pupils.

”I will kill them with my own hands. Even if they’re geniuses, even if their future potential is limitless, I will definitely find opportunities to kill them—with this game here, it’s not impossible for me to become stronger too!”

Fish had already appeared on the arena.

His highly infectious voice echoed through the somewhat spacious interior of the ship cabin, hitting the steel walls and reflecting back, making all those who had just mocked and ridiculed Lin Yu feel deeply shaken.

And greatly moved.

”Well said!” Google seaʀᴄh NoveI-Fire.ɴet

Sea Cucumber couldn’t help but exclaim.

Yes, this was exactly what their Marauders were—a group of people with guts, who valued loyalty, and dared to fight!

This description fit them perfectly.

Fish was also quite touched.

She patted Lin Yu’s shoulder.

”Good, I won’t interfere with your revenge... however, I’ll help you in a different way!”

As she spoke, Fish took out an ancient-looking iron token from her bosom.

It had the character ”Fish” written on it.

”This is a set of tokens our boss brought out from a dungeon. He engraved characters and gave each of us three deputy chiefs nine tokens. With this token, you hold equal status to the local chief in any branch.”

Fish said seriously, stuffing the token into Lin Yu’s hand, then added: ”For now I’m just lending it to you, but if you perform outstandingly during this operation... it’s yours.”

Lin Yu accepted the token—it felt heavy in his hand.

[Meteoric Iron Token · Fish: A token representing status. Hard texture. Can store specific forms of energy when injected, releasable when necessary. Release forms include ”attack” and ”defense”.]

[Note: Currently fully charged.]

Lin Yu looked at Fish, who blinked and said with a smile: ”You must keep its additional effects secret, okay.”

”Understood.”

Lin Yu showed a grateful expression and nodded, then asked.

”But... Boss Fish, what exactly is this operation about? I only heard that major organizations are participating, but I have no idea about the specifics!”

He couldn’t help but ask.

This question was also on the minds of the other Marauders members present, so when Lin Yu brought it up, everyone looked at Fish.

Even those from the Yanjing branch seemed curious—Lin Yu noticed this and couldn’t help but silently admire Fish’s prestige again.

So these four guys came to Jiangcheng with Fish without knowing anything!

Hearing Lin Yu’s question, Fish rubbed her chin.

”Well... initially it was just that Fluoxetine from the Psychological Society and I happened to meet in the last dungeon. There were seven people in that dungeon, all coincidentally core members of major organizations... so she invited us to meet in Jiangcheng.”

”Besides me, the invited members included people from Order, Free Alliance, Night Watchmen...”

”Some of you might not know Fluoxetine, so simply put, although that guy isn’t well-known, her position in the Psychological Society is probably similar to mine in the Marauders.”

Lin Yu showed a surprised expression: ”Such an important figure?! What’s her purpose?”

Fish shook her head: ”Don’t know, but since Fluoxetine invited us and she genuinely helped all of us in the last dungeon, I came to the meeting.”

”So, your primary task is to ensure I can reach that overpass tomorrow night on time, and prepare to provide backup from the periphery as much as possible, don’t let those killjoys from Order and Night Watchmen ruin my mood... they will definitely try their best to stop us.”

”Many hunters from the Hunters’ Association will probably also receive the news and wait for opportunities to get a piece of the action.”

”Besides, since we’re already here, and the Psychological Society has invited so many forces and attracted so many experts, so—”

His highly infectious voice echoed through the somewhat empty space of the ship cabin, hitting the steel ship walls and reflecting back, making all those who had just mocked and ridiculed Lin Yu feel deeply shaken.

”If my meeting goes smoothly, feel free to do as you please and take advantage of this rare opportunity to cause some chaos!”

”Whether it’s Order or Night Watchmen or other organizations affiliated with them, or even Psychological Society and Free Alliance members, and those hyenas and vultures attracted by the scent of blood...”

”If you have the opportunity, you can kill whoever you’re willing to kill, and anything you plunder belongs entirely to you!”

”I suspect the Psychological Society would also like to see such a chaotic situation.”

”With ’Sea Cucumber’, ’Glazed’, and this ’Heavenly Artisan’ as commanders!”

As she spoke, Lin Yu was taken aback.

He showed a surprised expression and spoke somewhat gratefully.

”Thank you for your kindness, but...”

”Allow me to refuse!”
