Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Robin stared at the dessert called [Blank Canvas] before her, showing a slightly stunned expression.

”So that’s how it is... But how should it be ’consumed’ correctly?”

She murmured.

The other players noticed this scene and also showed puzzled expressions.

”What does this mean?”

Robin looked up at Ka the Octopus: ”Can I ask others for help or discuss with them?”

”Of course you can!”

Ka the Octopus nodded.

”It’s a banquet - having fun together is what matters most!”

The octopus said cheerfully.

However, Robin couldn’t share this cheerfulness.

She took a deep breath and addressed everyone: ”Everyone... The information I currently have is... this dessert might be related to everyone’s [Class].”

”Painters can obtain two [Class Items] at [First-Tier], namely [Paints] and [Pencil] - the former is called [Oil Painter], the latter called [Sketch Painter].”

”You should all know I chose [Pencil].”

Lin Yu nodded.

The function of [Paints] is allowing the [Painter] to make corresponding colors appear in reality by adding pigments to the canvas.

This is an excellent method for information transmission, and can also be used in direct combat to suddenly splatter paint on an opponent’s face to block their vision.

The function of [Pencil] is allowing the [Painter] to materialize simple geometric shapes they draw and maintain them for one hour, with cooldown determined by the object’s size.

Robin had been using this ability constantly - but clearly, this top-tier [Painter] had some method unknown to Lin Yu that made her [Pencil] ability seem to have no cooldown.

Hearing Robin’s words, Fish couldn’t help but ask:

”We all know this, [Night Watchmen] stuff. So what?”

Robin continued: ”You know about [First-Tier] matters, but regarding the four advancement ’paths’ after [Second-Tier]...[Blank Canvas] is one of them.”

”And it’s the path farthest from me - one I would never choose from the beginning.”

As Robin spoke, Li Hua showed an understanding expression.

”Oh... So [Blank Canvas] is the [Second-Tier Item] [Painters] would choose after selecting [Paints], right?”

Li Hua said, and Robin confirmed again.

”Correct.”

Everyone else also showed understanding.

”I see.”

Clearly, Robin’s explanation at least let them know what kind of [Dessert] they might be facing next.

Though the solution was still unknown, they now had a general direction.

After all, in this dungeon...

Everyone were players who had undergone their second [Promotion].

Except Lin Yu.

Although he also wore an expression of sudden realization, Lin Yu knew very well inside...

”This is troublesome.”

No, rather than troublesome... it’s more like completely screwed!

How would he know what the [Second-Tier Item] for [Assassin] was?

Lin Yu had only just learned from Robin’s words that...[Second-Tier] advancement had four possible items to choose from!

As for which advancement path [Fluoxetine] himself had chosen, Lin Yu had no idea.

He didn’t even have a clue which side this guy had chosen at [First-Tier].

So purely from an information standpoint, he might suffer a huge disadvantage in this [Dessert] phase.

Lin Yu had even prepared himself to 100% accept punishment!

Losing just this phase wouldn’t be so bad, given the considerable advantage he’d accumulated earlier.

Ka the Octopus hadn’t emphasized how many ”ropes” the punishment would cut this round, likely just one.

But...

If he failed to recognize the dessert modeled after the [Item] and reacted suspiciously, his identity might be doubted.

All his efforts maintaining the [Fluoxetine] disguise would be wasted.

Lin Yu absolutely didn’t want that to happen.

Moreover...

If Ka the Octopus really provided desserts related to [Assassin], that would be the better scenario.

Lin Yu still had confidence to maneuver and salvage the situation with his acting skills.

If the octopus provided everyone with desserts modeled after their own class’s [Second-Tier Items], but gave him something related to [Fraudster] instead of [Assassin]...

That would be truly disastrous, leaving him no way to explain.

Although Ka the Octopus had shown no intention of exposing him, Lin Yu didn’t dare be too confident...

Could this NPC backed by ”gods” see through his true identity and class?

After all, that damned crow of the ”God of Truth and Falsehood and Change” had completely seen through him.

Setting aside the [False Face] used before entering...

During the banquet, he’d also used two [Fraudster]-exclusive items: [Counterfeit] and [Teeth of Prophecy].

In contrast, he hadn’t used any [Assassin] items at all.

So...

Lin Yu didn’t dare be too optimistic that Ka the Octopus was completely fooled.

”This phase is the most dangerous one for me.”

”Think of a way to bluff through...”

Lin Yu’s mind raced, pondering completely different problems from everyone else.

While Lin Yu was thinking, Robin was also deep in thought facing the [Blank Canvas] dessert shaped like an item.

According to Ka the Octopus...

This phase’s task included two requirements: ”find the card” and ”consume completely.”

For the latter, Robin currently had no clues.

What about the former ”find the card” then?

”Where could it be hidden?”

”[Blank Canvas] isn’t small - is it hidden inside? Quite possible, since it’s chocolate, and when it was being prepared earlier many ingredients were added in a dazzling way that made it hard to see clearly...”

Robin bit her finger in thought.

At this moment, [Magician] Phantom, who had remained silent, spoke up.

”Um... Miss Robin of the [Night Watchmen].”

”Perhaps you could try using your most fundamental [Painter] ability?”

”I mean - use that original class ability to draw the dessert before you!”

Phantom suggested, and Robin looked at him.

Seeing it was Phantom’s suggestion, Robin felt somewhat doubtful.

Especially since the suggestion sounded rather nonsensical.

But unexpectedly...

Li Hua, who normally didn’t get along with Phantom and likely had real grievances with him in reality, adjusted his glasses and supported Phantom.

”I also think it’s worth trying.”
