Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

The spark from the flintlock muzzle bloomed like a grand firework, its roar more terrifying than the thunder heard earlier from the clouds. The released bullet instantly struck the high wall constructed by ”Robin,” producing a massive explosion.

”Boom!”

Part of the geometric structure shattered instantly, the wall breached like an ancient fortress struck by a catapult. Old Man Radish jumped in fright.

”This... is this still a gun?”

Mosin-Nagant’s expression also darkened slightly. Though currently in a temporary alliance with Fish, the relationship between the Hunters’ Association’s ”top bounty hunter” and a Marauders executive was inherently more tense than that between Marauders and Order members.

After all, every Marauders executive carried an exorbitant bounty, while every bounty hunter possessed far more items than ordinary players. Meeting Fish in this dungeon, Mosin-Nagant had harbored some thoughts about observing her combat patterns up close.

If...

If he could discern some patterns or weaknesses, that enormous bounty might not be impossible to claim!

But after witnessing Fish’s shot, most of Mosin-Nagant’s calculations evaporated.

”What a formidable madwoman...”

”No wonder she’s been operating so brazenly even in Beijing!”

Just this single shot—regardless of its limitations—left Mosin-Nagant unable to conceive how he might counter it.

Only Gambler Li Hua and Magician Phantom seemed unsurprised by this attack.

”That power... she directly used [Piercing Sacred Might],” Phantom remarked calmly. ”This woman truly acts without considering consequences. Isn’t she afraid the blast might accidentally hit someone behind and get flagged as ’mutual attack’?”

Li Hua adjusted his glasses. ”The probability is low, but... I doubt she made this decision after careful deliberation.”

Ka the Octopus cleared his throat to offer his opinion.

”Ahem, while I know you were aiming at the wall—if you use such weapons again, I’ll have to penalize you by cutting one of your ropes!”

”Very dangerous.”

Ka’s meaning was clear.

”No penalty this time, but don’t let it happen again.”

Losing a rope was serious—especially since four or five participants would eventually lose two ropes. With Fish already down one rope, losing all four would mean immediate elimination.

Fish holstered her gun, showing no gratitude. She glared at Ka and retorted, ”Damn octopus, is this how timid those who serve the gods are? Can’t even use this?”

”What, doubting my accuracy? I wouldn’t hit anyone!”

Fish declared with full confidence.

Ka ignored her rebuttal, sinking back into the pool silently. Fish didn’t press further either, unwilling to escalate conflicts with the game host unnecessarily.

She simply stored away the flintlock and switched to another with a lighter wooden hue.

”Whatever, [Piercing Sacred Might] is valuable anyway...”

Then she pointed at the breach she’d created.

”Hey—everyone, I’ve opened a path for you.”

”This level of defense shouldn’t be something that Painter over there can maintain casually.”

”Even if they try to repair it, I’ll blast it open again.”

”Now it’s your turn—Phantom, catch!”

Fish folded the [Flavor Papers] into a stack and tossed them toward Phantom.

The players all snapped to attention, focusing on the breach. Fish’s shot had been precise and powerful—the opening perfectly exposed both Lin Yu and Robin’s displayed names simultaneously.

As Fish predicted, creating so many geometric constructs had drained Robin considerably. She lacked the energy to seal the gap immediately.

Phantom began exchanging [Flavor Papers] for food, mimicking what Li Hua and Lin Yu had done earlier.

Meanwhile...

The [Flavor Papers] held by Li Hua, Radish, and Mosin-Nagant were all concentrated in Mosin-Nagant’s possession.

Firstly, as a [Hunter], Mosin-Nagant possessed superior throwing accuracy and specialized in such techniques.

Secondly, those seated beside Fish had the optimal angle to attack the breach.

The first assault would naturally come from these two.

Mosin-Nagant and Phantom exchanged their papers for food—massive grilled meat and enormous meat buns descended from above!

Phantom caught the falling bun—several times larger than his head—and held it aloft. Then he removed his top hat and retrieved an item from within.

An oversized slingshot!

”Fantastic luck! The food actually turned out to be spherical!”

Phantom exclaimed, then...

He braced the slingshot against the table, adjusted the angle, and loaded the meat bun onto it. Though the slingshot was already oversized—half a person’s height—it still seemed small compared to the bun!

Yet Phantom’s hands seemed magical, somehow ”shrinking” the originally larger bun to fit the slingshot.

Then he braced his feet against the table, leaned back, and drew the slingshot taut—

”Whoosh!”

The bun launched straight toward the words ”Shadow-Type Pseudohuman” before Robin.

As he released it, Phantom announced:

”I choose to [Support] ’Shadow-Type Pseudohuman.’”

The massive bun merged into the name, soon appearing in the Shadow-Type Pseudohuman’s designated area on the screen!

Then...

Mosin-Nagant’s voice followed.

”I also choose to [Support] ’Shadow-Type Pseudohuman’!”

After declaring this, he tossed the grilled meat high into the air while emitting a sharp whistle.

A black panther materialized midair, snatching the meat and charging at full speed toward the breach!

Within moments, the panther leaped past the broken wall, twisting to hurl the meat toward the name before Lin Yu.

Soon...

The ”grilled meat” also appeared in Lin Yu’s designated area!

With two additional [Flavor Papers] converted into food, the Shadow-Type Pseudohuman’s total food supply had increased by roughly 30%!

In other words... it now required one additional ”feeding”!

But the situation still wasn’t secure enough.

So Phantom and Mosin-Nagant struck again.

New food converted from [Flavor Papers] descended once more, and the duo repeated their methods, delivering two more portions into the Shadow-Type Pseudohuman’s area.

The situation...

Had completely reversed!
