Reborn in the 90s with a Space: Winning Back My Husband

When He Hongming got home, he tossed his things on the table and went to see his father.

”Dad, guess who I ran into today?”

He Hongming couldn’t wait to share the good news, but in contrast to his excitement, his father seemed perfectly calm.

”Who?”

Due to his heart condition, He Yixiong had been recuperating at home, passing the time by drinking tea, reading, and playing with his bird.

He was reading when He Hongming came in. After answering his son with a single word, He Yixiong didn’t even look up, simply turning a page to continue reading.

He Hongming found his father’s utter lack of concern amusing. ’If he knew who I was talking about, he definitely wouldn’t be able to maintain this composure!’

”Dad, do you remember that young woman we met on the train? The one who saved you?”

”Of course I remember! It’s all because you boys are useless. All this time has passed, and you still haven’t managed to find her. I haven’t even had the chance to thank my little benefactor in person!”

After he spoke, He Yixiong shot a glare at He Hongming, expressing his dissatisfaction with his younger son.

”My fault, my fault. It’s all my fault! I may not have found the young lady before, but I was lucky enough to run into her today!”

”Ran into who?”

”...”

He Hongming stared at his father. ’Dad’s usually so quick on the uptake. Why is he being so slow today?’

But you couldn’t blame the old man. He had grown so disappointed in his two sons’ abilities over this period that he’d given up all hope of them ever finding the young woman.

”Who else could it be? It was the young woman who saved you!”

”What!”

He Yixiong’s heart skipped a beat. He shot to his feet as he spoke, the excitement on his face obvious.

”Dad, don’t get excited! Your health... you need to rest, remember? Rest!”

He Hongming was startled by his father’s reaction. ’I knew it,’ he thought. ’I shouldn’t have tried to build suspense. I should have just explained everything clearly from the start!’

”I’m fine. Just tell me clearly, did you really meet that young woman, my little benefactor?”

”I did.”

He Hongming saw that his father was just a little worked up but otherwise physically fine, which put his mind at ease. Still, he was more careful now, giving straight answers without any more theatrics.

”Where is she?”

Upon hearing his son’s reply, He Yixiong looked toward the door. If He Hongming hadn’t been holding him back, he would have already rushed out of the room to find her.

”Dad, calm down. She didn’t come back with me.”

”You... you...! Honestly, how can you be so useless! You finally run into her and you don’t even bring her back!”

”Dad, she’s not from the provincial capital. She’s just here on business. I’ve already arranged it with her; once she’s finished with her affairs, I’ll bring her to meet you.”

”Really?”

”Of course it’s true! When would I dare lie to you?”

”Good, that’s more like it! Find out what business my little benefactor needs to take care of. If you boys can help, then help her! I want to meet my little benefactor sooner rather than later!”

”...”

He Hongming thought about the business deal Shen Nian wanted to discuss. He could, in fact, help her. But judging from her reaction at the time, it didn’t seem like she had any intention of leveraging the fact that she’d saved his father to make him bend the rules.

’Oh well, I’ll just see how it goes,’ he thought. ’At worst, I’ll just have a proper talk with her when I see Shen Nian tomorrow.’

However, He Hongming could never have imagined that when he went to see Shen Nian the next day, it wouldn’t be her begging him for a partnership, but him begging her.
