Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 496: Chapter 459: Using Oneself as Bait

After a flurry of activity, having done all they could, the medical team prepared to leave.

But just as they were about to depart, Director Zhong suddenly ran out after them.

”Dr. Huang, wait! There’s something I need you for...” Director Zhong caught up to him, leaned in, and whispered something into the ear of the middle-aged man with salt-and-pepper hair.

The middle-aged man called Dr. Huang blinked, then nodded.

Before long, two ambulances sped away from the Jiaoyang Cultivation Base.

After leaving the Jiaoyang Cultivation Base, inside one of the ambulances, Dr. Huang suddenly spoke up. ”For the next forty-eight hours, every single one of you must remain completely silent about tonight’s events.”

”You all saw Director Zhong from the Public Security Bureau just now. If you can’t keep your mouths shut and end up behind bars, don’t say I didn’t warn you...”

Although Dr. Huang didn’t finish his sentence, his meaning was perfectly clear.

Hearing his words, the expressions on the other doctors and nurses all turned grim.

”Li Qian, no matter what, our Public Security Bureau bears an undeniable responsibility.”

Inside Building One, everyone took their seats. Director Zhong apologized once again. ”When I first took office as the director of the Lingshui City Public Security Bureau, my superiors instructed me that I had to ensure the safety of the personnel at the Jiaoyang Cultivation Base, but...”

Zhong Daqi’s words confirmed some of Li Qian’s earlier suspicions, but there was no point in bringing it up now.

After all, the attack had already happened.

”Director Zhong, you heard what Dr. Huang just said. My mother’s condition isn’t serious.”

Not dwelling on the matter of who was responsible—something Li Qian didn’t much care about anyway—he said in a solemn tone, ”But my mother suffered a great deal because of this. As her son, I can’t just pretend that nothing happened.”

”So I want to know, Director Zhong, do you have a way to root out those cockroaches hiding in the shadows?”

The very moment Li Qian’s words left his mouth, a familiar voice rang out from the entrance of Building One. ”I’d like to know that as well.”

Hearing the voice, a flash of delight crossed Li Qian’s face. ”Dean Pan!”

He truly hadn’t expected Principal Park to send Dean Pan.

One had to understand, Dean Pan was the head of the Combat Academy. He was undoubtedly swamped with work on a daily basis.

Moreover, as far as Li Qian knew, Dean Pan’s power had already reached the level of a Half-Step Legend, and he was preparing for his breakthrough.

For Principal Park to send such a powerhouse, and for him to arrive so quickly, meant that on top of using a Teleportation Array, some other special means were most likely involved.

All of this showed that the university still valued him greatly.

As they spoke, Dean Pan had already sat down imposingly in the seat of honor. With his strength and status, he was certainly qualified to take it.

Of course, at this moment, his more important reason for doing so was to back Li Qian up. He stared at Director Zhong, his eyes sharp and bright.

When Li Qian had just called out the two words ”Dean Pan,” combined with the information that the newcomer was from Shazhou Beast Taming University, Director Zhong had already guessed his identity.

And it was precisely because he had guessed Dean Pan’s identity that he now felt even more pressure.

He scanned the room, furrowed his brow in thought for a moment, and then stated his intentions. ”For something like this to happen under my jurisdiction is unforgivable. We must pursue accountability to the very end!”

His attitude was firm as he continued, ”Therefore, we must take action!”

”So, what’s your plan?” Li Qian had no interest in hearing empty platitudes and cut him off directly.

”My plan is divided into four parts. We must take the initiative and, before dawn today, purge all the cockroaches hiding within Lingshui City’s borders—whether they’re from the Blood Demon Sect, the Black Divine Teachings, or any other Cult Organization!”

Hearing this, Li Qian’s interest was instantly piqued. A questioning light shone in his eyes.

Director Zhong slowly laid out his entire plan.

”Part one: I’ll have Captain Ye and Captain Zhou lead a team to thoroughly investigate all outsiders who have recently entered Lingshui City. If any suspicious individuals are found, they are to be detained immediately.” As he said this, his eyes fell on Zhou Weiping and another squad captain under his command.

”Step two: Captain Xu, Captain Wu, and Captain Wang will be in charge. Using surveillance footage and other means, they will investigate everyone who has had contact with the Jiaoyang Cultivation Base, and specifically Ms. Han Yuqing, over the past four months. Any suspicious targets are to be detained on sight.” He looked at three other squad captains and continued his orders.

”Part three is a bit special. I hope that Li Qian can hold the fort at the Jiaoyang Cultivation Base, with Dean Pan acting from the shadows to observe and identify any and all surveillance directed at the base.”

”As for Dr. Huang, I’ve already spoken with him. The specifics of your condition will be temporarily classified. I believe that after the attack, before they can be sure if their objective was met, the Cult Organization will definitely send people out to gather intelligence.”

”With Elder Pan watching over things, the base will be completely secure. We might even be able to follow the trail right back to the mastermind.”

”And for the final part, I will personally lead a team. Tonight, we will dispatch an express medical Flying Ship from Lingshui City First Hospital, flying directly to Yunlan City!”

As Director Zhong finished speaking, Li Qian listened and nodded slightly.

’To be able to formulate such a practical and feasible plan in such a short time, even factoring me and Dean Pan into it... I have to admit, this new director of the Lingshui City Public Security Bureau really has some skills.’

’This final part, in particular, is cleverly arranged. It has a high chance of success.’

On the surface, Li Qian’s expression was as placid as an old well, but inwardly, he was already deep in thought. He mulled over the plan, especially the final part, feeling that it might not be enough.

After all, he knew very well that the final part was the most crucial element of the entire plan.

This move to lure the snake out of its hole, in Li Qian’s opinion, had a high probability of drawing out their hidden enemy.

After all, dispatching an express medical Flying Ship from Lingshui City First Hospital to Yunlan City overnight, and right after the attack on the Jiaoyang Cultivation Base...

Anyone with a logical mind would connect the dots and assume that Li Qian must have been seriously injured and required treatment in Yunlan City.

Under these circumstances, if the hidden Cult Organization wanted to achieve its goal, it was highly likely they would try to settle things once and for all with an ambush midway!

Li Qian knew very well: to catch a big fish, you need heavy bait. In this situation, there was no plan more fitting than for him to act as the bait himself.
