Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 192: Chapter 174: A Little Trouble

Perhaps sensing that Li Qian and the driver had noticed something was off, the Rock Giant, realizing its ambush was hopeless, stood up straight.

At the same time, a figure emerged from behind the Rock Giant, walking out unhurriedly before fixing a sharp gaze on Li Qian.

”This road is closed.” The figure was a man in his forties, with a bald head and a scar by the corner of his eye, giving him a menacing look.

As the bald man spoke, two more figures emerged from the green belt on the side of the road. Both of them stared at Li Qian with hostile eyes.

’Looks like they really are here for me.’ Although the bald man had said the road was closed, his malicious gaze gave everything away.

’Are they from the Black Divine Teachings?’

Li Qian mulled it over. ’The possibility isn’t very high. This is too brazen; it’s completely different from their usual methods.’

”Closed, is it? Then we’ll take another road,” Li Qian said unhurriedly, choosing to be agreeable after hearing the bald man’s words.

”Uh...” The bearded man, who had moved to the bald man’s side, was stunned by Li Qian’s response. ”You’ve got to be kidding me! You’re really something else!”

He glared at Li Qian and chuckled sinisterly. ”Is that what my big brother meant?”

”If that’s not what he meant, then what did he mean?” Li Qian asked, feigning confusion.

”It means... if you want to pass, you have to pay the toll!” The third person was a woman with a head full of dreadlocks. She didn’t look like the respectable type.

Li Qian chuckled, a look of sudden realization dawning on his face. ”Oh, so that’s what you meant! Why not just say so? Why beat around the bush?”

”So, you’re prepared to submit peacefully?” Seeing that Li Qian seemed to understand the situation, the corner of the woman’s mouth curled into a faint smile.

”No.” Li Qian shook his head decisively. ”I have no intention of paying. I’m not sure you’ll let me go even if I do.”

”Just pay up, and we’ll naturally let you go,” the bearded man said with a grin that revealed a set of large, yellow teeth.

”Let me go? How would you explain that to your employer?” Li Qian asked directly, his tone as casual and nonchalant as if he were asking if they’d eaten.

The bearded man clearly hadn’t expected Li Qian to figure out they were just hired hands. He froze for a moment, completely caught off guard.

’So they really are working for someone else.’ Seeing the bearded man’s reaction, Li Qian shook his head in resignation.

He looked at the three people and one beast blocking his path, and his gaze turned cold. ”Aren’t you afraid the Public Security Bureau will show up if you set an ambush here?”

”I only summoned my Pet Beast. I haven’t used any Skills. The Public Security Bureau can’t detect any Energy fluctuations, so they won’t get here that quickly,” the bald man said with a smug grin.

”If you don’t use Skills, how do you plan to stop my Pet Beast Skills?” Li Qian was a bit taken aback by this response, clearly not expecting such an answer.

”Heh, you want to use Skills? Fine. You’d better summon your Pet Beast right now,” the woman with dreadlocks said with a brazen laugh.

Li Qian was confused for a moment, but he quickly understood what was going on.

’According to Federation law, under normal circumstances, Beast Masters are forbidden from initiating Pet Beast battles within a city.’

’Whoever initiates the battle is held responsible, and doing jail time is a likely outcome. This makes things tricky.’

’If I don’t summon Qizai and Xiaoliu, I’m probably no match for them. After all, I’m outnumbered.’

’But if I summon Qizai and Xiaoliu, I’ll fall right into their trap.’

’One of their goals is probably to force me to summon Qizai and Xiaoliu.’

At this thought, he couldn’t help but frown. ’These people are most likely local thugs from Nandu City. They’re familiar with the city’s operational Rules and are skilled at exploiting them.’

However, his brow quickly smoothed over.

He remembered clearly that after reaching an agreement with the Jiangnan Province Public Security Bureau, Zhao Xiwei had told him that if he ever ran into trouble anywhere in Nandu City, or even the entire Jiangnan Province, they could pull some strings for him—provided, of course, that he was in the right.

’And it seems this situation fits the bill perfectly.’

”So that was your goal. However...” Glancing at the three of them, the last bit of worry in Li Qian’s heart vanished completely.

Before he could finish, a familiar voice cut in, ”However, their little scheme is doomed to fail!”

As the voice faded, a familiar figure flickered into existence behind Li Qian. It was none other than the woman from the Wing Race, Wu You.

”What are you doing here?” Li Qian asked, a look of astonishment on his face as he stared at the Wing Race woman, Wu You.

”I got bored of playing around at Yaxin’s Cultivation Base, so I left,” the Wing Race woman replied casually before continuing, ”Looks like you’ve run into a bit of trouble.”

”I have indeed, but it’s nothing serious.” Li Qian shrugged, not seeming to take the matter to heart.

”Need me to take care of it for you? This kind of situation is where I shine,” Wu You said, glancing at the bald man and his two companions with a disdainful tone.

When the bald man saw Wu You appear and chat so amicably with Li Qian, he became furious.

’How dare they ignore the three of us like this? This is intolerable!’

”Get them! Let’s teach them a lesson!” With a sharp wave of his hand, he led the charge toward Li Qian, with the bearded man and the woman with dreadlocks close behind.

In their eyes, a pampered pretty boy like Li Qian, even with Wu You added to the mix, was no match for the three of them.

In order to survive in the massive city of Nandu, the Pet Beasts they had chosen, while average in combat power, provided outstanding enhancements to their physical fitness.

Because of this, they were extremely confident in their own physical abilities and felt that dealing with Li Qian and Wu You would be a piece of cake.

Seeing the Wing Race woman, Wu You, take the lead and charge forward, a faint smile appeared on Li Qian’s face.

’Even if I just stand by and watch this fight, there won’t be any problems.’

’After all, Wu You isn’t an ordinary woman. She’s a half-human, half-pet Extraordinary Creature. In terms of combat power alone, she could annihilate them in seconds.’

The facts quickly proved his point. Shortly after the four of them clashed, the situation became completely one-sided.

Neither the bald man nor the bearded man was any match for Wu You, to say nothing of the woman with dreadlocks.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

With a few simple punches and kicks, all three were sent flying backward, crashing onto the road a short distance away.

The bald man, who had been at the front of the charge, got the worst of it. After being sent flying, he curled up on the pavement, rolling back and forth and howling in agony.
