Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 178: Chapter 160: Task 2

Although they had dinner at the Cultivation Base, the food wasn’t bad at all, and there was even a pot of fruit wine.

Li Qian enjoyed the meal. During dinner, he mentioned that he had chosen to attend Shazhou Beast Taming University.

This came as a bit of a surprise to Gao Yaxin.

She had been almost certain that Li Qian would come to Nandu City and enroll in Jiangnan Beast Taming University.

She never expected him to choose a university in a remote region like Shazhou Beast Taming University.

Quite puzzled, Gao Yaxin asked him why.

Li Qian didn’t hide anything and recounted the terms Shazhou Beast Taming University had offered him.

After hearing his explanation, Gao Yaxin, Lu Xiaoli, Wen Wan, and even the Wing Race woman, Wu You, couldn’t help but look at Li Qian in astonishment.

The terms were truly outrageous. It was no wonder Li Qian had chosen to go so far away.

Beyond their astonishment, they couldn’t help but feel a flicker of envy and anticipation.

Lu Xiaoli and Wen Wan, in particular, were now thoroughly impressed by Gao Yaxin’s proposed partnership.

’This wasn’t just finding a partner; they had clearly latched onto a true powerhouse.’

’Maybe their money-pit of a project really had a chance to be revived after all.’

At this moment, they finally understood why Gao Yaxin had chosen to trust him completely, handing over all the data related to the Red Feather Chicken’s evolution without hesitation.

When faced with a prodigy of his caliber, you naturally had to lay all your cards on the table.

The dinner was a pleasant affair for everyone involved.

After dinner, Li Qian and Gao Yaxin strolled back together.

They were, of course, heading toward the small white building where Li Qian was temporarily staying.

The distance from the Cultivation Base’s main building to the small white building wasn’t far, and they arrived shortly.

”Don’t feel too pressured by the Red Feather Chicken research. We’re already well aware of what a lost cause this project is.”

After walking Li Qian to the front of the small white building, Gao Yaxin said, ”So many brilliant Breeders have thrown themselves at this research, one after another, without any results. You can imagine how difficult it is.”

Li Qian understood her unspoken message. He nodded with a smile. ”Don’t worry, I know my limits.”

After a brief chat, Li Qian returned to the small white building. It was still early, so he didn’t go to bed right away. Instead, he took out his VR glasses and began to look through the information again.

What he was looking at was, of course, the data Gao Yaxin had compiled about the evolution of the Red Feather Chicken.

Li Qian became engrossed, soon finding himself lost in a sea of data.

Time slipped by without him noticing. When he finally looked up, the moon was high in the sky.

He glanced at the top right corner of the VR glasses display and saw that it was already ten o’clock at night.

He took off the VR glasses, washed up, and lay down on the bed, closing his eyes to think.

The small white building had plenty of rooms. Li Qian’s was on the top floor—the third floor. Moonlight streamed in, giving the room a serene and tranquil atmosphere.

After a moment of thought, Li Qian frowned. He then mentally summoned his task panel.

Ever since he had advanced to the Elite Level, the task panel had changed, allowing him to have two active tasks at once.

The first task was ”Evolutionary Path of the Gray Bean Dove to the Sky Escape Eagle,” with a progress of ninety-six percent. The second task slot was still empty.

After careful consideration, he decided to create the second task.

[Task Two: Evolutionary Path of the Red Feather Chicken]

He had made this choice after carefully weighing the pros and cons.

First, there was the value of the task itself.

As one of the ”four useless breeds,” the Red Feather Chicken population was staggering, not just within Dimensional Rifts but even on the Ancestral Star.

If he could discover an Evolutionary Form for it with significant Potential, it would undoubtedly cause another sensation.

The impact would be no less than when he discovered the evolutionary path from the Koi Carp to the Cyan-Scaled Flood Dragon.

It would bring tangible benefits to both him and the Jiaoyang Cultivation Base.

’With this achievement, I might even be certified as an Advanced Breeder.’

Beyond that, it would be a huge help to the Changfeng Cultivation Base.

If he really could figure out the Red Feather Chicken’s evolutionary path, the Changfeng Cultivation Base’s urgent crisis would be easily resolved.

’I could also repay some of the debt I owe Gao Yaxin.’

Another very important point was the data Gao Yaxin had given him.

The data was quite comprehensive. Li Qian felt that if he could fully digest it, his task progress should exceed eighty percent.

With an eighty percent head start as a foundation, he had the confidence to take on this Pet Beast research task.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t be crazy enough to create this task and have a slot occupied for the long term.

Finally, there was the progress on his first task.

That task was already at ninety-six percent completion. Li Qian felt that as long as he kept putting in the effort, it shouldn’t be too difficult to finish it before the school year began.

Even if he didn’t finish it, it wasn’t a big deal.

After all, at his current rate of improvement, reaching the Commander Level would only take about a semester.

’At that point, based on past experience, I’ll almost certainly get another task slot.’

In short, even if this money-pit of a task couldn’t be completed right away, it wouldn’t have a major impact on him. It was precisely for this reason that he dared to take it on.

The night passed without incident.

「The next morning」

Li Qian was awake bright and early. After waking, he didn’t delay. Without even stopping to wash up, he headed straight for a small forest about eight hundred meters from the white building.

According to the information he’d noted during his tour, this was supposed to be the rearing area for the Red Feather Chickens.

According to the data, a small number of Red Feather Chickens that had mastered the Light Energy Storage Skill would use it in unison every day at sunrise.

As for why they did this, Gao Yaxin hadn’t been able to figure out the reason.

Li Qian had a gut feeling that there was more to this Skill, so he decided to observe it in person.

He strode quickly into the small forest, his gaze sweeping the area. Soon, he spotted a layer of chicken droppings at the base of a large tree.

He followed the trunk with his eyes and, a few moments later, spotted two magnificent-looking roosters perched on a large branch. They were covered entirely in red feathers and looked exceptionally spirited.

They were Red Feather Chickens.

It was clear that these two Red Feather Chickens had been very well-raised.

Li Qian continued to scan his surroundings and soon spotted more Red Feather Chickens on the branches of other large trees.

All of these Red Feather Chickens looked to be in high spirits.

Their claws gripped the wood, holding them steady and firm on the trees.

Li Qian wasn’t in any hurry. He just watched them quietly.
