Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 167: Chapter 149: Shoulders

”What happened?”

After Li Qian set her down from his shoulder, the Wing Race woman staggered and nearly fell. It was clear she was badly injured.

Once she managed to steady herself, she looked at Li Qian again and asked her question.

”First off, I have to thank you...”

”I don’t know the specifics of what happened after we left, but your trump card must have done the trick.”

”Anyway, our escape... our departure went pretty smoothly. But not long after, you just fell right out of the sky and smashed a big crater in the ground.”

”I’m the one who carried you out of that crater...”

Li Qian explained the gist of what happened with a patient smile.

”You saw me fall from the sky, smash a big crater, and then you carried me out of it...”

”Why didn’t you catch me?”

”Even if you couldn’t, you could have had that Pet Beast of yours catch me. That shouldn’t have been a problem, right?”

The Wing Race woman’s voice was tinged with anger.

She could just imagine it: falling from the sky like a rag doll, crashing hard enough to leave a crater. How humiliating it must have looked.

What was even more infuriating was that this detestable guy in front of her had seen the whole thing.

Most importantly, if this guy had just caught her, she wouldn’t be so badly injured right now.

Her whole body felt like it was about to fall apart.

”Sorry, I admit, I didn’t think that through.”

”But, you have to understand. At the time, this huge, humanoid object comes crashing down from the sky. I didn’t know what it was. Ah, no, I’m not saying *you’re* a ’what,’ I know you’re not a ’thing’... Uh, you get the gist. I also didn’t know if it was a sneak attack from an enemy. In that situation, if it were you, you’d probably have dodged it too, right?”

”Besides, you look like you’re not that badly hurt...”

Li Qian defended himself weakly.

”’Not badly hurt’ just means I’m not dead!”

the Wing Race woman snapped.

”That’s good!”

Li Qian patted his chest and let out a long sigh of relief.

”Hmph!”

The Wing Race woman was furious and couldn’t help but let out a cold snort.

”So, uh, what should we do now?”

It was Li Qian’s first time in a situation like this, so he was a little lost.

”We wait here. The Active Metal Mecha Battle Armor we’re wearing has a positioning function. It won’t be long before rescue personnel arrive.”

”Speaking of which, the quality of this Active Metal Mecha Battle Armor is really impressive. To take such a severe impact and have no damage...”

”No, wait. It seems like there isn’t a single scratch. That shouldn’t be possible...”

The Active Metal Mecha Battle Armor she was wearing showed no signs of damage, as if it were brand new. This strange state caught the Wing Race woman’s attention.

”Did you give me your Active Metal Mecha Battle Armor?”

As a sudden thought struck her, the Wing Race woman quickly looked Li Qian up and down before asking.

”Uh, to save you and prevent any further injury, it was the only thing I could do.”

Li Qian spread his hands, openly admitting it.

”Hmph!”

The Wing Race woman snorted again but didn’t say anything.

However, Li Qian could tell from her snort that her attitude had softened a little.

”Um, I suggest you don’t take off the Active Metal Mecha Battle Armor right now.”

”When I pulled you out, I noticed your leg was pretty badly injured. Right now, the Mecha Battle Armor is supporting it, so the situation is under control. At the very least, it’s acting like a splint. If you take it off, you might make the injury worse.”

Seeing the Wing Race woman showing signs of wanting to take off all the Active Metal Mecha Battle Armor, Li Qian quickly spoke up to stop her.

’If she takes off this Active Metal Mecha Battle Armor completely, she’ll definitely notice the... coolness... on her backside. When that happens, I’ll be in so much trouble I won’t be able to clear my name even if I jump into the Yellow River.’

’Most importantly, I really didn’t take advantage of her. At most, I just got an eyeful.’

”By the way, what’s your name?”

Li Qian asked, trying to distract the Wing Race woman.

”We were teammates, fighting side-by-side, after all. We can’t just keep calling each other ’hey’ forever...”

Seeing that the Wing Race woman had no intention of speaking, Li Qian pressed on.

”Wu You.”

The Wing Race woman was silent for a moment, but in the end, she coldly uttered two words.

”Hello, Big Sis Wu You! My name is Li Qian. ’Qian’ as in ’humble’!”

Li Qian introduced himself with a gentle smile.

”Don’t go claiming relatives you don’t have. I’m not your sister, and I don’t have the kind of little brother who would abandon his sister... Also, I’m not interested in what your name is.”

The Wing Race woman, Wu You, still had a cold expression.

Clearly, she was still hung up on Li Qian’s earlier shenanigans.

Li Qian could understand this, but he also felt he was being unfairly blamed.

’From start to finish, I don’t feel like I did anything wrong.’

’It was the most logical decision. Why waste time being sentimental about it?’

’If I put myself in her shoes, I’d definitely want everyone else to stop dawdling and just get the hell out.’

”Those... uh... flippers of yours. You want to patch them up? They’re looking a little rough.”

Not wanting to argue with Wu You, Li Qian looked at the pair of bleeding wings on her back and asked with concern.

Hearing this, the Wing Race woman, Wu You, was so angry her eyebrows shot straight up. ”What flippers? These are wings! WINGS, you get it?”

”If you don’t know how to talk, then don’t talk!”

Wu You felt her liver ache even more.

’This shameless young man,’ she thought, ’is my nemesis.’

’If I weren’t so badly injured right now, I’d jump over and kick Li Qian just to vent my frustration.’

After yelling at Li Qian, she finally realized something and asked, ”And you don’t find any of this the least bit strange?”

As she said this, she pointedly gestured to her back.

”You mean these wings? Yeah, something’s definitely not right. They’re all limp. From a professional standpoint, they’re probably broken.”

Li Qian looked them over seriously upon hearing her words, then spoke with a solemn expression.

With that, he slapped his forehead, feigning a look of sudden realization. ”Ah, this must be your trump card!”

”I never would’ve guessed you’re actually an Extraordinary Creature! Are you a Bird Human Pet Beast?”

”What genus are you? What family? Would you mind if I used my Eye of True Sight to check your info?”

Hearing this, the corner of Wu You’s mouth twitched uncontrollably.

She couldn’t help but roar in her mind.

’I’m not a genus, I’m not a family, and I’m not a Pet Beast!’

’I’m from the Wing Race!’

’The rare and noble Wing Race, do you understand?! Aaargh!’

’Country bumpkin!’
