Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 168: Chapter 150: Nandu City

The two of them continued onward, standing atop Qizai, though their speed had decreased considerably.

”My trump card definitely crippled that Cultist,” Wu You explained. ”Even if he isn’t dead, he has to be seriously wounded. We’ve stalled for so long, and with rescue teams from the Public Security Bureau and the Flying Ship Base on their way, he shouldn’t have the guts to chase us anymore.”

It was only because of her explanation, and the fact that no enemy had appeared, that Li Qian dared to let Qizai slow down.

After flying for a while longer, Wu You suddenly spoke up and had Li Qian stop.

Li Qian knew the rescue team must have contacted her through her Active Metal Mecha Battle Armor.

He brought them to a stop, quietly waiting for the rescue to arrive.

Just then, Li Qian heard Wu You, the woman from the Wing Race, grunt in pain. Then, before his surprised eyes, she retracted her limp wings back into her body.

Li Qian was very curious and wanted to turn and look, but by the time he did, he only saw the sealed Active Metal Mecha Battle Armor.

”You’re not to speak of this to anyone,” Wu You warned, her gaze turning icy as she looked at Li Qian after retracting her wings.

Li Qian pointed to her back and asked for clarification, ”You mean the shoul—”

Seeing her expression turn cold, he quickly corrected himself. ”The wings! Don’t worry, my lips are sealed!”

As he said this, he even made a zipping motion across his lips.

Just as they were speaking, several Roller Coasters flew in at incredible speed.

The doors opened, and several official Beast Masters in Public Security Bureau uniforms emerged, cautiously approaching while scanning the area for potential threats.

The Public Security Bureau officers came over and immediately asked about the situation. Upon learning that Li Qian was fine but Wu You was severely injured, they wasted no time in carrying her onto a Roller Coaster.

The vehicle whizzed away, disappearing from the scene in the blink of an eye, presumably to take her to a hospital. Li Qian let out a long sigh of relief.

’Finally, I don’t have to be on edge anymore. As for what happens later, that’s a problem for later. I might be long gone by then, and I’ll never have to see Wu You again.’

Not long after Wu You was taken for medical attention, Li Qian left with the Public Security Bureau’s Security Officers in another Roller Coaster.

The Roller Coaster was fast, and it wasn’t long before they were flying over Nandu City.

This was Li Qian’s first time in Nandu City, and he was arriving in a Public Security Bureau vehicle. The feeling was rather peculiar.

Nandu City was certainly worthy of its reputation as the capital of Jiangnan Province, one of the Dongxia Federation’s renowned Special Level Cities, and the home of Jiangnan Beast Taming University.

A Tier Three Small City like Lingshui City couldn’t even be mentioned in the same breath. Even Yunlan City, a Tier One City, couldn’t compare in terms of scale and prosperity.

Looking down from the sky, he could only see a fraction of Nandu City. Traffic flowed endlessly like a river, and the buildings looked like countless matchboxes packed tightly together.

”First time in Nandu City?” a round-faced Security Officer inside the Roller Coaster asked, noticing Li Qian’s curious gaze.

Li Qian nodded. ”I’m from Jiangnan Province, but I rarely left home growing up. This is indeed my first time in Nandu City.”

”Everyone from your Flying Ship flight is grounded in Nandu City for now,” the round-faced Security Officer continued. ”If you’re not in a hurry to continue your journey, you could take some time to look around. If you are, well, that’s a different story.”

His words reminded Li Qian of something. He asked, a little sheepishly, ”Excuse me, Officer. I was wondering, how is the Flying Ship Company handling this incident?”

The round-faced Security Officer smiled, happy to clear things up for him. ”The Flying Ship Company has already sent out a notice. You should have received it on your phone by now.”

”You probably haven’t had a chance to look yet.” Seeing Li Qian reach for his phone, the round-faced Security Officer didn’t leave him in suspense and just told him the details. ”According to the Flying Ship Company, they’re offering two compensation options.”

”First, a full refund, or you can take another one of their flights to your destination free of charge within seven days.”

”Second is a compensation of 8,000 Federation Coins.”

Li Qian nodded slightly after hearing the two options. The Flying Ship Company’s offer was quite generous.

After all, strictly speaking, the company was also an innocent victim in this attack.

The Black Divine Teachings Cultist hiding in the shadows was targeting Wu You. To be precise, everyone else was just caught in the crossfire.

’Then again, it depends on your perspective,’ Li Qian mused. ’From a passenger safety standpoint, the Flying Ship Company definitely failed in its duty.’

’Regardless of Wu You’s special status or whether she attracted the Black Divine Teachings Cultist, once someone boards their Flying Ship, the company has an obligation to ensure their safety—whether that’s within their capabilities or not.’

Li Qian took out his phone to check and quickly noticed a few details that differed from the officer’s statement.

The round-faced Security Officer saw him reading but continued speaking, ”On top of that, to thank you for your bravery in fighting the villain, the Flying Ship Company has also issued a special reward. We don’t know the amount, though.”

Li Qian had just seen the amount on his phone: fifty thousand Federation Coins. It was a true windfall, no doubt about it.

’When I rushed out, I really wasn’t thinking about getting a reward, but I’m pretty satisfied with this result.’

The Roller Coaster finally circled over Nandu City before descending.

It landed in the parking area of the Jiangnan Province Public Security Bureau headquarters.

After entering the Jiangnan Province Public Security Bureau, Li Qian gave a detailed statement about the incident. After they were done, the young, round-faced Security Officer prepared to escort him out.

Since he could take a free Flying Ship to Zhonghai City anytime in the next seven days, Li Qian wasn’t in a hurry.

Since fate had brought him to Nandu City, the capital of Jiangnan Province, Li Qian decided not to leave right away. He planned to have some fun before continuing his journey.

With that in mind, Li Qian started to walk away. But before he could even leave the Public Security Bureau building, a familiar figure suddenly appeared in front of him.

”Sister Xiwei!” Li Qian called out, a little stunned.

Yes, the person who had suddenly appeared before him was none other than Zhao Xiwei, with whom he had fought side-by-side once before.

After the initial shock wore off, Li Qian quickly put two and two together. She was a special agent for the Jiangnan Province Public Security Bureau, after all.

’It’s perfectly normal for her to be here.’

”Li Qian, I didn’t expect we’d meet again so soon,” Zhao Xiwei said with a smile.

Li Qian agreed, feeling a bit emotional himself. ”I certainly didn’t. I figured I’d make it to Nandu City eventually, but I never imagined it would be like this. Fate really does work in mysterious ways!”
