Get Stronger by Pleasing Pokémon? Who Needs to Be a Trainer!

The first day of Lunar New Year, the second day, the third…

The festive season was exactly as lively as one would expect. Firecrackers crackled nonstop, cheers echoed through the streets, grand showcases lit up the towns, music drifted through the air, children laughed and shouted, and words of praise followed one after another.

There were visits, hosting guests, and even Meowth, who appeared out of nowhere, dropped off some food, then vanished again. The whole holiday felt simple and warm.

For Lin Feng, though, it was just him and his Pokémon.

Time flowed like water. Before he knew it, the celebrations were over, and it was February 9.

Morning. The first day after the holiday.

In reality, his video channel had already exploded in popularity just a few days after the New Year.

The comment section was overflowing with people urging him to open his shop again. There were both new fans and long-time followers.

To be honest, once someone gets used to a comfortable life, it becomes very hard to go back to working hard again.

But when Lin Feng looked at the berry fields, where the fruits were growing bigger and slowly ripening, he had no choice but to get up and start harvesting them, turning them into Pokéblocks for later use.

And then, a new problem appeared.

Looking at the orchard filled with fruit trees, Lin Feng felt a headache coming on.

”It’s over, Gardevoir. I don’t think I can handle all this work!”

At the plantation, in the end, only he and Gardevoir could make Pokéblocks.

There was also Indeedee, but she was responsible for household chores. Recently, her brother had been helping a lot.

But once the breeding center officially opened, her brother would have his own responsibilities.

”Gardevoir…” Seeing Lin Feng so troubled, Gardevoir almost laughed, but still said gently, ”Why not hire someone to help?”

”I don’t want to hire anyone…” Lin Feng looked at the storage spheres stacked nearby, feeling a wave of frustration. There were more than a dozen of them, each filled with fast-ripening berries.

”Gardevoir…”

”…Then should we look for others of my kind?”

”No, no. What we really need… is a Metagross.” Lin Feng shook his head, his eyes firm.

Gardevoir was not actually suited for this kind of work.

Among Psychic-type Pokémon, Gardevoir was not the most precise when it came to energy control. The best in that regard was Metagross.

The reason his Gardevoir could handle energy so precisely was because she was extremely strong… and had lived a very long time.

If he trained another Gardevoir, who knew how long it would take to reach that level?

But Metagross was different.

Once it evolved, it possessed incredible computational ability. It was practically born for this kind of task.

Which brought him to the real problem.

Where was he supposed to find a Metagross?

This was not like starter Pokémon or Eevee that you could easily find at breeding centers.

Fully evolved Metagross were usually only seen with elite trainers or champions.

Like Steven.

”…Wait. Doesn’t the Psychic Elite also have one?”

Lin Feng suddenly remembered the Metagross he had seen during the Horizon League. The Psychic-type Elite should have one too.

With a goal in mind, things became much easier.

He might not know that Elite personally, but someone he knew certainly did.

Without hesitation, Lin Feng grabbed his phone and opened his chat with Feng Yang.

Lin Feng: Are you there?

No reply.

Lin Feng was not worried. Feng Yang was busy, after all.

He still had plenty of berries to process.

”Come on, Gardevoir. Let’s deal with these first.”

Gardevoir watched his changing expressions with a gentle smile, then nodded and followed him into the kitchen.

The work took a long time.

By noon, they had barely managed to turn the contents of four storage spheres into Pokéblocks.

That was only possible because Lin Feng’s psychic power had improved recently. Otherwise, he would not have been able to handle some of the more complex techniques required.

When he finally stepped out of the kitchen, he checked his phone.

His eyes lit up.

Feng Yang: What is it? Don’t tell me you made another mess I have to clean up.

Lin Feng: ???

He felt slightly awkward. Since when had he become someone who only called when things went wrong?

Lin Feng: I want to ask you something.

Feng Yang: Go ahead.

Lin Feng did not waste time.

Lin Feng: Do you know anything about the Psychic Elite?

Feng Yang: Why?

Lin Feng: I want a Metagross.

Feng Yang: ?

Feng Yang: This isn’t a wishing well.

Lin Feng: I mean… does her Metagross have any offspring?

Feng Yang: As far as I know, probably not. But you can ask her yourself.

A contact was sent immediately after.

The profile picture showed a young woman in a red cheongsam, holding a folding fan with elegant poise.

Information about her quickly surfaced in Lin Feng’s mind.

She was one of only two female Elites in the East China League.

Unlike the others, her focus was not purely on battle, but on performance and coordination. She specialized in executing Pokémon moves with flawless elegance.

She was a renowned Coordinator, with a massive fanbase, comparable to the most famous performers in other regions.

Lin Feng hesitated.

Was it too forward to ask something like this?

But thinking about his future workload, he took a breath and sent the friend request anyway.

The request was not accepted immediately.

Lin Feng was not in a hurry.

He had only decided to try his luck. The chances were slim to begin with.

Still…

He had a strange feeling.

Somewhere in his memory, he was sure he had seen a Metagross before.

He just could not remember where.
