God-Level Special Forces Soldier

Chapter 295: Chapter 293: His Background Is Not Simple Either

Xiao Tian returned, naturally becoming the hero in everyone’s eyes. The police from the West Bureau had always been looked down upon by officers from other bureaus due to their low case-solving rate, but ever since Xiao Tian came along, everyone at the West Bureau could hold their heads high, as they themselves would say.

”This feeling, is fucking awesome!”

Amidst the cheers and applause from a group of police officers, Xiao Tian walked into the bureau, seeing many familiar faces, and he too felt a long-lost sense of warmth.

On the walls of the police headquarters’ central hall, several pennants were hanging, all commending Xiao Tian and displaying plaques, narrating Xiao Tian’s glory.

Yu Ningxue, with red-rimmed eyes, followed behind him. Not only her eyes, but her cheeks also flushed a bashful red, uncontrollably shamed. Her delicate face was as rosy as if stained with blush.

She couldn’t believe that she had just done such a bold thing, directly rushing forward to hug Xiao Tian in front of so many people, and said such cheesy things. Now, thinking about it, Yu Ningxue wanted to die!

At the back of the crowd, Gong Xingteng followed with an ugly expression.

Entering the police department, after seeing Xiao Tian return, many people stood up to greet him, their voices full of admiration and excitement. For a time, Xiao Tian became the brightest star in the entire police department.

Gong Xingteng sat sullenly to the side, the more he saw Xiao Tian warmly welcomed by everyone, the angrier he became.

Originally, today was supposed to be his day of employment; after all, he was a dignified deputy director of the city. Who would have thought he would be completely sidelined, utterly ignored, and all the spotlight stolen by Xiao Tian? How could he not be angry?

”Humph.” Gong Xingteng moved to the center of the crowd and suddenly said coldly, ”Just a small-time police officer, no need to be so proud. What’s the use of being able to fight? In this day and age, mixing in this line of work, it ultimately comes down to backing...”

Before Gong Xingteng could finish, he suddenly noticed Xiao Tian’s gaze tighten and shoot him a cold glance.

Xiao Tian didn’t say much, just that one glance, but it was mixed with a chill, seemingly a warning to him.

Actually, Xiao Tian had noticed Gong Xingteng in the crowd as soon as he got out of the car, a bit surprised that he would be here.

Although Gong Xingteng had previously spoken disrespectfully towards Lin Bingxuan, Xiao Tian wasn’t a petty person, so he hadn’t reacted. But he hadn’t expected this Gong Xingteng to sarcastically mock him, which made Xiao Tian a bit displeased.

Seeing Xiao Tian’s cold gaze, Gong Xingteng, who had previously suffered losses at Xiao Tian’s hands, didn’t dare to continue speaking and sat to the side.

He clenched his fists, very angry, but didn’t dare to act. In the end, he could only look at Xiao Tian with resentment, plotting sinister thoughts internally.

Since he was the deputy director, as the saying goes, a superior officer’s rank can crush someone, and he would have plenty of time in the future to give Xiao Tian trouble!

Everyone present was very familiar with this Gong Xingteng. Before the arrival of a new deputy director in Shanghai City had already spread, and it was known that this new deputy director’s background was definitely not simple.

There were many who came for the glory, like Ce Shi before. Most of these who came shining were just average officers muddling through, and now came a deputy director; one could imagine the power behind him.

Yet unexpectedly, such a person was scared into silence by just one look from Xiao Tian; many looked at Xiao Tian with even more fiery admiration.

In their hearts, they thought, Xiao Tian is just so badass!

At this moment, the office door suddenly opened, followed by a familiar voice.

”Hahaha, you brat finally have the guts to come back, I knew you wouldn’t die!”

Bai Tao came out laughing heartily. Seeing Bai Tao, Yang He and others hurriedly greeted him.

”Director Bai!”

Xiao Tian grinned, ”I’ve got a strong life, can’t die!”

”Hmm.” Bai Tao walked up to Xiao Tian, appreciatively patted his shoulder, his voice strong and confident, ”Good! No wonder you’re the police legend of Shanghai City, this time you’ve really made us proud!”

In Bai Tao’s tone, there was also a sense of pride. The arrogance of the Americans who came before was still fresh in his mind, but Xiao Tian quickly slapped them in the face, earning Huaxia police an international reputation.

Bai Tao’s smile was very bright, and for a tough director like him, such a scene was rare, showing just how much he appreciated Xiao Tian.

It might be that Bai Tao hadn’t smiled this much in a whole year!

”By the way.” Seeing Gong Xingteng to the side, Bai Tao suddenly remembered something. Taking advantage of the large number of people present, Bai Tao directly introduced Gong Xingteng, ”Let me introduce to everyone, this is Gong Xingteng, our new deputy director in Shanghai City.”

Everyone gave face to Bai Tao, immediately applauding. But the disgruntled Gong Xingteng merely nodded simply.

As the applause faded, Bai Tao walked directly to the center of the hall and solemnly announced, ”This time, Xiao Tian represented Huaxia and Shanghai, excellently completing the cross-national pursuit case. He is the pride of all of us present here. The organization specially awards Xiao Tian with a first-class merit and enjoys special allowances provided by the Shanghai government!”

Wow. The scene instantly burst into waves of applause. Numerous people came forward to congratulate him, this scene much more enthusiastic than when Gong Xingteng was introduced earlier.

Xiao Tian had achieved numerous merits in his life, but he wasn’t interested in such awards at all. However, when he heard the words ”special allowances,” Xiao Tian’s expression changed instantly.

There’s actually money involved?

”Great, great, thank the organization, thank the organization!” Xiao Tian said, smiling widely.

”Hahaha, you brat. You probably don’t care about this little merit, eh?” Bai Tao laughed and said.

”How could that be!” Xiao Tian quickly waved his hand, determined, ”Thank you to the organization for their kindness, I will definitely live up to expectations and be a good people’s police officer!”

---

Although Bai Tao wanted to chat more with Xiao Tian to understand what Xiao Tian had encountered in Japan, due to Gong Xingteng having just been transferred, he needed to return to the headquarters to photocopy some documents for his employment. So, Bai Tao left early after bidding farewell to everyone, and arranged with Xiao Tian to meet another day.

After that, Bai Tao, accompanied by Yang He seeing him off, drove Gong Xingteng onto the road leading to the city bureau.

On the way, Gong Xingteng’s expression was always unpleasant. His face was boding sinisterly and uncertain.

”Xiao Tian, huh? I’ll finish you off someday!” Gong Xingteng muttered quietly.

This sentence happened to be heard by Bai Tao, who upon thinking, realized that the way Gong Xingteng looked at Xiao Tian earlier indeed had some hostility; perhaps these two had clashed before?

As Bai Tao drove, he advised, ”It looks like you’ve had some friction with Xiao Tian from the West Bureau? Everyone is a fellow police officer, it’s best to stay harmonious, besides...his identity is definitely not simple!”
