Reborn As Noble

Chapter 1047: Liana’s Prank ( 1047 )

Two hours later.

Javier waited in the courtyard with Kayra, her butler, and her escort, along with Liana, Gloria, Felicia, Mimi, and Delya, who were already excited.

”Cuquawked!!”

Buddy came sprinting toward him, followed by the other Pekko.

”Oh, Buddy!” Javier grinned.

The large bird hopped in place, circling Javier in eager, bounding loops.

”Cuquawked!!”

”Yeah, yeah! We’re heading out today. I know you’re bored~”

”Cuquawked!”

”You remember the Armand Naval Base, right?”

”Cuquawked?” Buddy tilted his head.

”Yeah, I want you to run there with Pikko and the others. We’ll meet there.”

”Cuquawked!!” Buddy stomped his talon on the ground.

”What? I’m flying there with the mana helicopter and the others,” Javier said, gesturing toward his group.

”Cuquawked!!!” Buddy’s feathers ruffled in clear protest.

”Aw, come on... don’t sulk like that. I really want to ride you, but they don’t really want to ride the Pekko-drawn carriage again.”

”Cuquawked!” Buddy stomped his talon again while glaring at Kayra and her escort.

”So you go to the Armand Naval Base and we’ll meet there, okay? I need to escort them with the mana helicopter after this.”

”Cuquawked!” Buddy turned away, marched a few paces off, and began scratching the ground with his talons, kicking up small clouds of dirt directly toward the group. A clear, sulking protest aimed at the visitors who were taking his master away.

”Oi, Buddy! Don’t do that!” Javier shouted as the dirt kept flying toward all of them.

Liana and Gloria reacted instantly. Liana raised a palm, and a shimmering, translucent barrier of mana bloomed in front of them, deflecting the dust. Gloria adjusted her glasses with one hand while her other traced a quick magic in the air, reinforcing the shield with a second layer of glowing energy.

Felicia, Mimi, and Delya ducked behind them, Felicia’s ears flattening, Mimi’s tail puffing up, and Delya letting out a soft, startled gasp.

Liana just let out a soft laugh, and Gloria adjusted her glasses.

”I told you, young master, Buddy isn’t going to agree.”

”It’s not his first time acting like this,” Gloria added dryly.

”Yes. The only young master’s mount pet that never wants to leave his side or be left behind~” Liana let out another soft laugh.

While Kayra had already gasped sharply, pulling her daughter close and shielding her with her own body. Her escort tried to step in front of her, only to get coated in a fresh wave of dirt, their uniforms now smudged and dusty.

”Buddy, behave!!! Or I’ll tell Giddie about this!”

”Cuquawked!” Buddy protested, scratching the ground even more vigorously toward all of them.

”Alright, alright! Stop! Ugh!” Javier exhaled, glancing at Kayra’s escort, who were now covered in dirt from head to toe.

”I told you to behave, Buddy.”

”Cuquawked!!”

Buddy stepped closer and lowered his head to Javier’s shoulder, letting out a soft, pleading squawk.

Javier exhaled, then patted his head gently. ”Fine, fine... I’ll find a way to bring you along.” He smiled and wrapped his arms around Buddy’s thick neck.

”Cuquawked~”

”Yes, yes... I won’t leave you behind or ask you to run ahead.” Javier chuckled, still stroking the Pekko’s feathers.

Liana watched with a soft smile. Gloria discreetly dabbed the corner of her eye with a handkerchief.

Nearby, the maids attending Kayra and her escort sighed quietly. They raised their hands, palms glowing with a soft, pale blue light. A gentle cleansing magic that shimmered over the fabric. The dirt lifted away in tiny, sparkling particles, leaving the uniforms spotless and fresh, as if they’d just been laundered.

”Now look at the trouble you caused,” Javier murmured to Buddy. ”Alf’s going to be upset about the courtyard.”

Javier heard the distant whir of rotors approaching.

Three mana helicopters hovered in the sky and slowly descended, their rotors kicking up gentle swirls of dust as they settled onto the huge open courtyard landing area.

Buddy squawked and pressed closer to Javier.

Javier let out a soft laugh.

”Silly Buddy! Don’t worry, I’m not riding that helicopter, alright? Sheesh.”

”Cuquawked!!”

”Yeah, I know! I’m just going to talk to them. To let them know they’ll go first.”

Buddy lifted his head and watched intently as Javier walked toward the officer in charge, slowly followed him from behind.

Liana leaned in and whispered to Gloria, Felicia, Mimi, and Delya.

”Look at that big bird shadowing the young master~”

”He doesn’t believe a word he said,” Gloria observed quietly.

”Want to see something fun?” Liana murmured, a mischievous glint in her eyes.

Felicia tilted her head. ”How?”

Liana and Gloria shared a smirk.

Then raised her voice, clear and bright.

”Buddy! Young master is going to run for the helicopter now!!!”

”Cuquawked!?” Buddy whipped his head toward the nearest helicopter, then dashed toward it in a burst of feathers. He shoved his head through the open side door, the rest of his body far too large to fit and wedged himself there stubbornly.

”O... oi! Liana!!!” Javier shouted, trying to tug Buddy back from the helicopter.

Liana and the others just laughed softly while Mimi was already doubled over.

”Look what you’ve done! Ugh! Buddy!! I won’t be using the helicopter! Don’t get tricked by Liana!!!”

”Cuquawked!!!”

”Trust me! I’m not! Now get out from there so the others can climb up!”

”Cuquawked!!!”

”Ugh! You know three helicopters are only enough for the noble lady and her escorts, right?” Javier exhaled, trying to pull Buddy by his tail feathers.

Buddy finally withdrew his head and stared at Javier.

”Oi! Watch the rotor!”

”Cuquawked!”

”Ugh!” Javier glanced at the officer, who was already gesturing for Kayra and her daughter to board the helicopter Buddy had just attempted to occupy.

”See? I’m not going with them.” Javier sighed, then shot a glare toward Liana and the others, who were still quietly laughing.

Ugh! I know this is Liana’s doing.

I’m sure because she was still annoyed about Iria and Iziya earlier.

Sigh... now this huge Pekko won’t even budge.

Javier exhaled and walked away from the helicopter after briefing the officer. He watched as the three mana helicopters lifted off slowly, their rotors humming steadily as they rose into the air. They hovered for a moment, then banked gracefully toward the direction of the Armand Naval Base, growing smaller against the sky until they were distant specks.

”See, Buddy? I’m not going with the helicopter. Why can’t you trust me? Sigh.”

”Cuquawked!!”
