Reborn As Noble

Chapter 1019: Subtle Challenges ( 1019 )

After the kiss, Mylezra smiled and whispered, her eyes locked on Garius’s.

”Finally... I’m your official wife. After everything that’s happened... and all the times you kept postponing this wedding.”

Garius chuckled softly. ”I’m already too old for romantic moments like this.”

”Hmm... you’re old?” Her finger slowly traced the line of his jaw. ”I’m not. But look at you, still muscular here and there.” Her touch lingered. ”And you’re still handsome. I wonder if I can preserve this mature, handsome face of yours.”

”Heh... I’m human. Not an elf like you.”

”Mmm~ We don’t know that yet. Besides... I am the Queen of Elves. Of course I know a few secrets about youth.” She smiled, her gaze warm and teasing. ”Just look at me.”

”Yeah, yeah...” Garius began, but before he could continue, a commotion erupted not too far away.

”Oi, Uncle! At least let me cut a piece of that main head meat!”

”Hah! We should present this to your father first!”

”No way! You said the main head was the most mature! I want to taste at least a cut!”

”No can do, boy! This head is mine! Bwahahaha!”

”I’m the one who found it!”

”Yeah!? I’m the one who killed it!”

”I don’t care! We defeated it together! If it weren’t for me, that hydra would’ve slipped back into the lake!”

”Hah, boy! Thanks to me, it’s defeated without causing more chaos—unlike your plan!”

”Ugh! Just a cut! See? I’ve only got a kitchen knife out!”

”No can do, boy! I know you. You’ll slice off a huge piece and stash it in your dimensional storage before I can blink.”

”Tch! Fine... these three heads are mine, then! The second, third, and fourth!”

”Oi, oi! Shouldn’t we show this to your father first? Weren’t you the one who said this should be for the wedding feast?”

”Fine! I’m taking the second head!” Javier shouted, yanking it from the wagon, cutting off the head piece, tossing it back onto the wagon, and storing the entire long neck meat into his dimensional storage.

Garius sighed. ”Hesbeirn... and my youngest son... causing a commotion this early.”

Meanwhile, Liana let out a soft sigh.

She stood not too far from Javier, who was now bickering with General Hesbeirn, both wearing identical sly smirks over the massive hydra meat laid out between them.

She exhaled slowly, her gaze lingering on him before turning away.

She had rushed to find Javier earlier, only to discover him standing excitedly at the main Armand Estate gate, flanked by the special maid unit. She’d recognized them immediately: Special Battle Maids, elite operatives under Erinnette’s command.

And now... he was cutting the hydra head and storing the entire neck meat into his dimensional storage.

Liana watched as one of their squad leaders approached her quietly, offering a respectful bow before whispering, ”Miss Liana. Since you’re here now, we believe the responsibility for Prince Javier falls to you.”

Liana glanced toward the maid, a faint smile touching her lips. ”Mm... thank you for watching over him.”

”Don’t worry about it, Miss Liana. It was Sir Alf’s command.”

”Thank you... and sorry for the trouble caused by Prince Javier.” Liana nodded slowly, her tone gracious.

”Don’t worry, Miss Liana. We all know how he is.” The maid smiled knowingly before bowing once more. ”If you’ll excuse us.”

”Mm... thank you again.” Liana nodded and smiled, watching as the maids withdrew smoothly, leaving her alone with Javier and the still-smirking General.

Young master, Liana called softly after a sigh.

Javier turned. ”Hmm? Yes, Liana?”

”Why do you have to cause a commotion during your father’s wedding?” Liana said softly while shaking her head gracefully.

”Hmm? I didn’t cause any trouble. This huge berserker here is causing the commotion.”

”Oi, brat! Don’t blame me!” Hesbeirn shot back, crossing his massive arms. ”You’re the one picking a fight and trying to take my meat!”

”Hah!? I just asked for a slice. A slice!”

They kept bickering until Erinnette appeared, glaring at both of them.

”Hesbeirn! Prince Javier.”

Both looked at Erinnette, who was now glaring at them. They swallowed hard as she signaled with her thumb toward the main audience.

Garius was already pinching the bridge of his nose while exhaling, while King Lioness and King Veldrac were laughing out loud. The attendants and other nobles from the Beastkin Nation, Demon Nation, and Elven Nation were all watching them.

Erinnette stepped forward, grabbing each of them by the ear. She pulled them close, her voice low and sharp.

”Do you two have any idea where you are? This is His Majesty’s wedding. And you’re brawling over hydra meat?”

”A...ah! Mrs. Erinnette, I’m sorry!” Javier squirmed.

Hesbeirn winced. ”Big sis, I...”

”Save it,” she hissed, eyes narrow. ”And who in their right mind drags a whole dead hydra into a royal courtyard? Do you want the entire court to panic? Get it out of here. Take it to the main kitchen. Now.”

Francesca chuckled softly, watching Javier rub his sore ear from across the courtyard, while hesbeirn follow erinette and the wagon going to the kitchen.

My honey bun..always cause trouble~

She glanced toward Mylezra, who was now wrapped tightly around Garius’s arm, beaming. A small smile touched Francesca’s lips.

Her gaze drifted over the crowd and settled on a table where her two eldest sons sat with their partners.

Guess I should spend some time with them.

She motioned Erisa over. The maid approached and bowed slightly.

”Erisa~”

”Yes, my lady?”

”Could you let my honey bun know he’s expected at his brothers’ table? Preferably now.”

”As you command, my lady.”

Erisa moved toward Javier with her usual grace.

Liana, who was smoothing the front of Javier’s tunic, glanced up and stepped smoothly between them. She tilted her head, hands clasped politely before her, and smiled.

”Yes, Erisa? What do you need?”

”Ah, Miss Liana,” Erisa returned the smile, her gaze drifting past her toward Javier. ”I’ve come to let Prince Javier know his mother wishes him to join his brothers’ table.”

”Oh, is that all?” Liana’s eyes held a glint beneath her gentle expression. ”Just the message, right?”

”Of course,” Erisa replied smoothly, her smile lingering a touch too long. ”I was simply asked to pass it along.”

Liana smiled gracefully, not moving aside. ”Good. Then I’ll pass the message to the young master myself, no need to trouble yourself for a small matter like this~.”

”Miss Liana,” Erisa’s tone remained polite, though her eyes held a subtle challenge. ”I’m certain our prince heard me just fine.”

”My, my, Erisa.” Liana’s smile deepened as she casually crossed her arms, drawing subtle attention to her figure. ”It seems you don’t quite trust me, the one who’s been with him the longest. His first future wife.”

Erisa’s expression didn’t waver. ”Ah, no, Miss Liana. You misunderstand. This isn’t about trust. Our Queen’s command is absolute, and I was asked to deliver it personally.”
