His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2412: Chapter 688: Has Returned (6)

The air pressure in the apartment is so low, it feels like it could implode at any moment.

Qin Mu, who is on her period, is wearing leggings and a long sweater as she nests on the sofa, occasionally glancing at the man seated beside her. He is carefully studying the documents Xi Meng brought him, his indifferent expression making it difficult for anyone to make a sound.

Xi Meng stands to his side, observing his expression and then looking at Qin Mu’s tense demeanor, not daring to utter a single word.

”Do you want some tea?”

Qin Mu asks her softly.

Xi Meng tries to manage a slight smile and shakes her head at her.

Qin Mu nods, and the two women exchange glances for a while, then Qin Mu silently hugs a hot water bottle while scrolling through her phone. Xi Meng remains standing straight behind Mu Yichen, watching him sign his name in the bottom right corner of the last page of the documents with such force that it seems like the signature might pierce through the paper.

”President Gao will be returning to the city tomorrow and hopes to meet with you before leaving.”

Mu Yichen raises his hand to pass the documents to Xi Meng beside him, and as Xi Meng receives them, she adds another word.

”Let’s skip this meeting, discuss it next time when he comes around again!”

Mu Yichen responds indifferently.

”Alright! I’m heading out then!”

Xi Meng nods briefly, and while dealing with official business, she dare not waste words with Qin Mu, instead giving her a look before leaving.

Mu Yichen doesn’t glance aside but accurately picks up the book he was reading earlier, while Qin Mu, not daring to look further, keeps her head down, focusing on the contents on her phone.

There are indeed many entertaining stories and humorous incidents on Weibo, yet she lacks the mood to look at them, so she opens WeChat and browses her Moments. Although she usually doesn’t pay much attention to what’s on her Moments, upon opening them today, she realizes she has missed a lot of gossip.

Qin Mingzhu’s Moments are akin to those of a track exposure enthusiast, recording every action and destination. Qin Mu clicks into Qin Mingzhu’s Moments and meticulously reads every post, finally finding out that Qin Mingzhu is somewhat depressed due to her personal matters recently.

When did that girl start having so many thoughts in her mind?

Qin Mu suddenly feels a sense of softness within her heart, but looking up at Mu Yichen, afraid he might be unwilling to have guests, she asks him: ”Is it alright to have Mingzhu over for dinner?”

Mu Yichen lifts his eyes to confirm she is speaking to him: ”Whatever!”

He resumes reading, while Qin Mu...

”Come to the apartment for dinner? Your brother-in-law is cooking?”

”Will he poison it?”

”...”

”I argued with his mom recently!”

”?”

Qin Mu is somewhat dumbfounded, but Qin Mingzhu sends another message: ”Okay! I kinda miss you, even if there’s poison, I’ll come!”

Qin Mu: ”...”

At eleven o’clock, Mu Yichen goes to the kitchen punctually to prepare lunch, and Qin Mu hears the doorbell ring and rushes to open the door with her slippers on.

”Hehe! I brought a gift! Will this make your brother-in-law treat me a bit better?”

Qin Mingzhu sees Qin Mu’s slightly pale face, and despite her worry, she jokingly remarks first, holding a paper bag in her arms, presumably containing a few books inside.

”Come in and talk!”

Qin Mu has no idea why Qin Mingzhu suddenly seems so anxious about encountering Mu Yichen, but the sisters certainly can’t stand chatting at the door forever.

”Why is your period so vicious?”

In the living room, Qin Mingzhu takes off her coat and places it beside her, putting the books beside the coffee table and asks Qin Mu, with a hint of reproach in her tone.

”I wish I knew!”

Qin Mu thinks to herself, maybe she’s been in bad mood recently or under a lot of stress. There even seems to be signs of acne appearing on her forehead.

”No wonder your brother-in-law isn’t even going to work, staying home to take care of you. Perhaps he thinks you’re too scary. I’ll go greet him first!”

Qin Mingzhu is somewhat nervous, hearing the movements in the kitchen, courteously went over there.

Qin Mu gives a helpless smile, opens the bag Qin Mingzhu brought, and flips through the books.

They turned out to be related to finance and stock trading. Qin Mu furrows her brows, thinking it would have been better to get some novels to pass the time at home.

She throws the books aside, then turns her attention, listening to the voices from the kitchen, one soft and timid, the other cold and distant.

”Brother-in-law, I came to see my sister, you’re cooking oh, hard work!”

”Mm! Go accompany your sister!”

”Okay then, I’ll withdraw!”

As Qin Mingzhu tiptoes out, seemingly worried that any loud noise might upset Mu Yichen.

Qin Mu stands for a while, then discomforting heaviness descends in her lower abdomen, after Qin Mingzhu comes over, she sits down. Qin Mingzhu watches her casually hug the hot water bottle and tells her as she sits down: ”Should you go see a doctor? After all, Xiaohao is accessible.”
