His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2407: Chapter 687: Returned (5) Second Update!

Mu Family.

The atmosphere in the living room was cold and harsh, as it had been for a long time.

Mu Zihao returned home, handed his coat to the servant at the door, and asked, ”Has the old man come back?”

”He has! At the moment, he’s in the living room with the madam.”

Although the servant said this, he kept his head down, and his tone was off.

Mu Zihao glanced at the servant more intently, his eyes flickered, and then he moved towards the living room.

Ten minutes later.

”Since both of you are here, I’ll say it, I want to go back to the countryside!”

The old man kept his head down, not looking at anyone, but his face was quite unpleasant, showing disappointment and anger, though he could barely suppress it.

”Back to the countryside? Suddenly, why did you think of going back to the countryside?”

Mu Zihao sat down, looking at his father with some confusion, and asked.

”I have no say in this house, the juniors are troublesome, what’s the point of staying here? It’s better to go back to the countryside, where I can hang out with my old buddies, play some chess. Although life isn’t as good as here, my heart feels more at ease.”

”What kind of words are those? Who made you uncomfortable?”

Listening to his father’s words, Mu Zihao felt something was off, and he glanced at Feng Fanghua, noticing she was also unhappy.

”Dad, those words were just offhand remarks, someone had to tell her those things.”

Feng Fanghua knew the reason, and also knew Mu Zihao suspected her, but she did not refute him, speaking the truth instead.

”Hmph! Someone had to tell her? What kind of words did you say? Xiaomu has a good temper, but if it were me, I would have fought with you already. Why has she been withdrawn since she was young? It’s because she was without parents. After she married Yichen, she considered you as her own mother, don’t you know? I haven’t held you accountable for letting that girl Chen have a relationship with Yichen, and now you’ve directly stabbed her in the heart with a knife. What kind of mother are you?”

The old man suddenly slapped the sofa and stood up, loudly reprimanding Feng Fanghua.

After all these years, it was the first time he had been so furious with his daughter-in-law.

Feng Fanghua was startled by his sudden movement, she tilted her head back, yet was unable to defend herself.

Mu Zihao was bewildered, but didn’t ask any questions.

”If I hadn’t come back early today, this matter might have remained hidden without anyone knowing, and that girl would have just suffered in silence, feeling wronged, right?”

The old man asked her again, and his words were indeed an interrogation.

”Yes! I really don’t want others to know she came to meet me at home, but Dad, would I harm her as her mother-in-law? She’s still so young, even if she suffers a bit with me, what’s the big deal? I didn’t hit or scold her, just said unpleasant things. I won’t say them anymore, okay? You suddenly want to go back to the hometown, how do I and Zihao explain this?”

When Feng Fanghua reached the end of her sentence, her voice was no longer as firm as before, instead there was a hint of fear, a bit of grievance.

”Explain however you want, I see neither of you are any good.”

The old man swept his sleeve and left the living room.

Mu Zihao...

Why did he remain unaware of the matter, yet was already deemed a bad person?

Later, Mu Zihao learned from Feng Fanghua about what she had done to Qin Mu, and without saying a word, he left the house.

These past years, it was the first time Mu Zihao had done such a thing.

Qin Mu drove back, but eventually ended up at the seaside. The March sea breeze seemed premature, but the chill quickly calmed her down, her heart no longer felt as unsettled.

This stretch of sea, which she gazed at quietly, seemed to carry away many things with the wind.

The tall buildings behind her formed the broadest backdrop, she seemed so small, yet so composed, standing on the coast for a while, listening to the waves pounding the rocks, the crashing sound as they hit the shore.

The night sky was devoid of stars, yet the sea had some red and green shadows, illuminated by the lights from the buildings behind her.

The surrounding people were sparse, perhaps because the night was too cold, or maybe it wasn’t the best opportunity to stroll by the sea.

Later, she rested on an empty seat, as someone approached to make conversation.

”Miss, may I sit?”

Qin Mu lifted her eyes slightly, not looking at the person, but glancing around, noticing a couple cozying up on the idle lounge chair on the other side. She turned her eyes away, a faint smile on her lips.

The gentleman saw her consent, then sat down. However, as he sat down, Qin Mu stood up, moved to the side, and continued standing by the coast, her hands on the railing, feeling the wind blow.
