A Sorcerer’s Journey

Chapter 1186: Chapter 1187: Equitable Balance

Over three hundred years of roaming, Green had found, on this vast boundless continent, two large world nodes in total, and thirteen small world nodes.

That was already enough.

With multiple Dark Wizard Demon Hunting Expedition experiences and having personally carried out Shadow Spy Sorcerer missions, searching for world nodes and planting coordinate beacons, Green possessed considerable knowledge of world coordinate calculation.

At this moment, through these world node coordinates, with Green’s current life level and knowledge of Space, he was already able to vaguely sense that will existing in the unseen depths.

Green could not determine what it actually was.

Was it the World’s Heart will of this black sphere?

Was it an awakened will similar to a Resentful Ghost?

Or was it the controller of this world?

All speculation was telling Green that this black sphere was not simple; it had an independent will of its own, yet was by no means an ordinary lifeform, and even less the Illusory World rift Green had previously hypothesized.

However, no matter what it was, as long as he could locate its true-body will, Green would be able to use the Balance Rules lever to build a bridge for negotiation.

Although this beam of light of equilibrium law was only the most basic material, still far, far away from the Truth Lever Magic Wand, it already possessed its most fundamental function: equivalent balance!

So-called equivalent balance meant that as long as one was within the influence range of the Endless World’s Balance Rules, and oneself was not an existence punished by fate, Heavenly Dao, origin, and the like for disrupting balance, then, ignoring life level and all Wizard protections, the two parties’ lives would be taken as the most basic equivalent bridge: damage would appear on both sides according to the most primitive ratio, and life and death would be traded on the fairest terms!

In other words, even if Green were only a First-Level Wizard and the opponent were a Level 8 Sovereign, once Green used this beam of light of equilibrium to establish equivalent balance, then the two would share life and death!

Conversely, if Green were a Sovereign but foolishly chose a First Level life as the counterpart for equivalent balance, then it would likewise be a bond of shared life and death.

Therefore, the ability of equivalent balance would only be used on an existence stronger than the Caster.

Though the Truth Lever Magic Wand had yet to obtain its headpiece, relying on this beam of light of equilibrium law alone, it already possessed the most basic constituent might of an ultimate sacred relic embodying the depth of a civilization. It would not be used lightly; once used, it could easily reverse the course of war!

And on this basis, the Truth Lever Magic Wand that would be forged from it...

Casting one last glance at the Snow Velvet Tribe, who were trapped here yet completely unaware, still cheering in joy over a brief victory, Green hesitated no longer. Walking in true time, after a few Elemental Teleports, he vanished under the gazes of the people below.

...

In these more than two hundred years among the Snow Velvet Tribe, apart from completing the twelfth-phase project of the Face of Truth, Green had devoted himself to calculating this world’s core control point.

However, due to the absence of three-dimensional height, the former Space vector formula lacked one vector function, resulting in several hundred positional coordinates, all of which needed to be verified by Green one by one.

Whoosh!

After several Hourglass cycles, Green stopped in midair, having arrived at the closest calculated coordinate to the Snow Velvet Tribe.

Yet there was nothing at all in midair; nearby was only an endless stretch of low rainforest shrubs, and below lay a swamp. There was no valuable coordinate reference object, nor any strange rules or High-order Being energy reaction.

Shaking his head, Green’s figure vanished as he continued on toward the next nearest coordinate.

This time, only after a full two days did Green arrive at a rocky area, where countless boulders over ten meters in diameter were scattered everywhere. Frowning, Green checked the calculated coordinates.

According to the coordinates, if that will was here, it should be five hundred meters below this rocky ground.

Although the likelihood was not great, Green was unwilling to give up even the slightest chance. Extending his palm, under the combined effect of Repulsion Attraction Dual Force he lifted the boulders of over ten meters one by one, flinging them randomly into the distance with resounding rumbles, and began excavating.

Hundreds of li away.

A pair of slumbering eyes suddenly snapped open.

”Boom,” ”boom”—several ten-meter boulders fell from the sky. Two of them traced a graceful parabola before crashing down beside this creature; with a deafening shatter, the ground broke apart, shards of stone flew, and dust billowed into the air.

”Woof, woof, woof! How dare you disturb the great Fallen Hound King’s slumber. Very good, I’ll use you as my first lunch after awakening, woof, woof, woof!”

When this Fallen Hound stood up, its body was actually as round and massive as a giant bear.

Or rather, it was originally a spherical giant bear that merely believed itself to be a Fallen Hound?

After letting out a strange dog-like bark, the giant bear licked its own bear paw. As its eyes went blood‑crazy, its body slowly swelled, and then—like a raging bull—it charged toward the other side of the mountains, heedless of everything.

Rumble, rumble, rumble, rumble...

It was as if some colossal monstrosity was madly charging from afar without any restraint. Green, who was excavating a pit, stopped, and his Three-Colored Light Eyes looked over. It was a berserk giant bear, body over thirty meters long, a peak Third-Level lifeform, and it looked like its meat would be pretty good.

Constantly chewing on Philosopher’s Stones to accelerate his passive evolution, Green’s hunger worsened far faster than before. Driven by his cellular instincts at this moment, his mouth involuntarily flooded with drool, and his tongue licked his lips.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The rampaging Savage Bear smashed aside a massive boulder blocking its way, then reared up on the ridgeline. Its huge, tall, fat body suddenly stood straight, just about to unleash the wild ”woof woof woof” roar of a Fallen Hound. However, when its bloodshot, berserk eyes saw the lifeform at the center of that two‑hundred‑meter‑plus crater beneath the mountains, suddenly, the gaping maw it had opened to roar... couldn’t make a sound.

At this moment, that tiny lifeform, in the giant bear’s eyes, actually seemed like the source of a mountain‑shattering earthquake, turning into a force‑of‑nature phenomenon.

In almost an instant, the Savage Bear thought of many things.

Why would a Tribal Guardian Deity appear here?

Will it eat me?

Ever since Mom died, I inherited her lofty position as chieftain of the great Fallen Hound race, hunting in this mountain range. Even though I’m the only Fallen Hound and haven’t found a mate so far, I’m still the King of my clan!

If I die here, does that mean the great Fallen Hound race goes extinct just like that?

If I turn and run now, there’s no way I can escape the palm of this Tribal Guardian Deity. On the contrary, I might even arouse its twisted amusements, and it might start eating from my plump, tender a+ss first, forcing me to turn my head and watch in terror as it eats me bit by bit.

But if I don’t run and just stand here stupidly and stare, in the next moment it might walk over, grab me by the ears like a rabbit, then open that huge mouth and swallow me whole—just a moment of pain.

If I take the initiative and walk over... how am I supposed to explain my intentions?

Hello, I’m your devout admirer, here to behold your supreme radiance and beg for your protection?

That’s disgusting. That’s basically selling out the kingly dignity of the great Fallen Hound race!

Besides, I don’t even have a big tribe. If I can’t provide enough sacrifices, then with resources this scarce, this powerful a Guardian will probably eat me first.

What do I do, what do I do... Mom once said the great Fallen Hounds are a race that uses their brains; I have to make full use of my innate wisdom...

”Woof! Woof! Woof!”

Down in the deep pit, Green was just about to use Gravity Magic to grab this meal that had delivered itself, when he saw the giant bear actually barking ”woof woof woof,” its short tail behind it wagging like crazy, tongue lolling as it happily dashed over. There was no trace of that savage, headlong charge from earlier.

Uh?

Green’s outstretched hand froze in midair.

”A dog that looks like a bear?”

The giant bear that had been wildly charging just now was now clumsily rolling about as it ran down the slope, tongue hanging out. When it reached Green’s side, its massive head kept rubbing against Green’s trouser leg. That look it had was just like a speechless declaration of its submission as a dog.

Green stood there, stunned for quite a while, unable to react.

The giant bear had its head lowered so far it practically wanted to bury it in the ground, its huge fat a+ss stuck up high, and its short, thick, plump tail wagging nonstop.

”Uh... could it really be a dog?”

Green moved his hand in midair and tried stroking the fur on the giant bear’s head. The thing put on an utterly content expression, harmless eyes squinting in bliss. That look of enjoyment honestly made Green a bit reluctant to roast it and eat it.

”Mm, not bad, not bad. Looks like a specially shaped hunting dog.”

Green showed an amused smile.

”Go catch some prey for me. I’m hungry.”

After sending a mental command to the giant bear, Green ignored the strange fellow and continued digging through the rubble at his feet. The giant bear bolted off like a streak and vanished.

Less than half an Hourglass later, the giant bear happily came trotting back, dragging a giraffe, barking ”woof woof woof,” its plump, stubby tail wagging nonstop, tongue lolling. That currying look was so shameless it made one want to laugh.
