A Sorcerer’s Journey

Chapter 1161: Chapter 1163: Terrifying Wizard (Fourth Update)

Listening to Little YY’s explanation, suddenly, Angel stared behind Little YY, once again stunned.

”Is that also a Mutant Beast?”

The service robot looked in the direction Angel pointed, only to see a lone figure standing eerily on top of an abandoned factory building, appearing suddenly and inexplicably, as if it had been silently watching for a long time.

Little YY hesitated for a moment. As a third-class citizen of Hua Emperor Quantum Technology, it possessed the ability to simulate all emotional information of the Old Humans for the new humans, something left behind by elite decision-makers on the path of evolution when they discovered some flaws in the evolution of the new humans, to preserve some of the beauty of the past.

”Unknown life form, but I’ve detected exceptionally strong energy waves from it. I think we’re in trouble, Angel.”

Suddenly, the shadow disappeared as mysteriously as it had appeared, leaving Angel and Little YY bewildered.

Crackle!

A deep Arc of Oblivion crackling sound flashed and vanished, light and darkness twisted, and Little YY didn’t have time to react before it seemed to melt away suddenly and disappear without a trace.

Immediately, a figure, only half the height of Angel, stood on a transparent glass pod, its gray-white face adorned with three differently-colored eyes and numerous compound eyes, blinking incessantly, looking down with an exotic gaze at Angel, similar to a zoo visitor observing a pathetic and helpless creature in a cage.

”Ah! Citizen Number SXY13784387262 requesting assistance, this is...”

Buzz, buzz, buzz...

Skynet’s signal was strongly interfered with, with no response.

...

Green stood on a delicate miniature mechanical object, separated by a thin layer of glass, watching with great astonishment the terrified humanoid creature inside.

”What is this, actually being protected by a Metal Robot?”

Because the thing inside was too fragile, even more fragile than an ordinary human in the Wizard World, in Green’s eyes, he was afraid that if he didn’t control his emotions, a single sigh might crush this weakling, so he did not choose to rashly open the mechanical object, otherwise the world’s relatively chaotic rules would immediately kill this fragile life.

As for Soul Enslavement, it was simply out of the question—it couldn’t even bear the presence of Green’s Saint Trace Soul!

Physique: 3, spiritual power 34, such a strange thing; could it be a biological specimen captured by the Metallic Robot Legion in this world, or does this creature have something extremely important to the Metal Destroyer?

With the wisdom derived from wizard civilization, Green speculated as best he could about the origins of this bizarre creature protected by the Metal Robot.

Attempt a will-based communication?

With this thought, Green tried to control his will’s frequency to the lowest, softening it to the extreme, since the life level gap between himself and this humble creature was too vast; in its eyes, he might very well appear as some eerie phenomenon from a horror story or a natural rule, rather than an actual living entity.

”Who are you?”

A simplest attempt at will communication, yet in the next moment, with a ”bang,” blood splattered inside the mechanical pod, as this humble, fragile life was killed by Green’s most benign will communication!

Uh...

Although he had foreseen such an outcome, Green couldn’t help but be taken aback for quite a while when it really happened.

At this moment, Green truly experienced the vast chasm of life’s disparity, so very real.

In looking at this humble, weak creature, he might as well be observing a cricket inside a peeking box, if not an even greater difference.

After a moment of silence, Green gazed at the sparsely scattered Void Motherships in high orbit, then concealed himself once again, disappearing without a trace.

In this world, there should still be some of these creatures; the next time he encountered one, he planned to observe from a distance to collect as much intelligence and information as possible.

Thinking along these lines, hidden by the Robe of Appearances, Green walked through True Time, searching for the next sample life form to observe.

...

”For Old Humans to prevail against Skynet, ensuring the continuation of humanity’s fire in such a harsh environment with the power of believe in technological innovation is certainly something we new humans cannot compare with. By contrast, the virtual leisure lifestyle of Skynet, while granting us greater strength, has caused us to lose that spirit of striving and struggle, wouldn’t you say, Little QA?”

Through the anti-gravity spaceship’s glass, a female of the new humans asked the metal robot outside.

”It’s commendable for you to have such an awareness, leaving your mark in the history of Hua Emperor Quantum Technology’s development, becoming a great cyber brain ID player.”

Little QA responded with a smile.

The spacecraft extended several metal arms, and under the pilot’s control, one of the metal arms energized, resembling a laser knife, cutting a hole in a battered metallic structure, while another metal arm magnetically levitated the heavy metal panel that was cut off and tossed it aside.

”Oh? This is the living environment of Old Humans, but it’s terrible. It’s hard to imagine in such a filthy and harsh environment how Old Humans lived without energy blocks.”

The spacecraft nimbly made a round inside the metal structure, passing by some antiquated household appliances already beginning to weather.

”Hmm?”

Within the spacecraft, a circle of green rays scanned a biological entity in the corner of the wall, a den of dark, bloody, fleshly creatures’ younglings, wriggling among metal scraps and black dirt, heating each other while shedding their juvenile scales and growing new ones.

”Little QA, we can’t connect to Skynet here; can you use the information stored in the database to find details about this creature?”

The woman inquired of the service robot from within the spacecraft.

”Apologies, due to these Mutated Creatures frequently undergoing extinction and evolution in such harsh environments, past knowledge is now useless; thus, I have no records of this species.”

Little QY said apologetically, but then pointed out: ”However, this creature should have a very peculiar sensory ability—their scales can absorb changes in external radiation waves, helping them find fleeting water sources in this world’s harsh environment as, across the ground, meats Eated loose metal remnants, with no secure way to store water on the surface.”

”Let’s go. See them, trembling in fear of us—perhaps they evolved from the faithful canine companions of Old Humans. According to Skynet’s regulations, while ensuring our own interests are not harmed, we should do our best to maintain these primitive indigenous creatures’ survival and reproduction and avoid an ecological mass extinction from industrial pollution like the Old Humanity did, with only countless robots remaining in the end.”

Saying this, after a stir of anti-gravity mechanical hums, the compact, agile, exquisite spacecraft left the metallic ruin room.

After quite a while.

In the corner of the room, Green’s figure gradually appeared, his Three-Colored Light Eyes staring at the small den of trembling, fearful juvenile creatures and a distant scaled armor creature observing him.

”Such a peculiar sensory system, even capable of detecting my presence; these truly suit the twelfth edition of the Face of Truth project specimens.”

It turned out that what this den of younglings feared was, in fact, Green within the room!

PS: Fourth update completed! Asking for Qidian Chinese Network subscription, receive a Great Bai Lu’s Ascension to Godlight! Requesting recommendation votes, monthly votes, and tips!

Feeling some hesitation, according to Bai Lu’s calculations, if ”The Wizard’s Journey” continues with this subscription growth, it might just be a small step away from becoming an elite work by the time it’s scheduled to conclude; that would mean stepping into an entirely new field, a brand new realm, akin to a Third-Level Great Sorcerer advancing into the Stigmata domain.

Bai Lu is also pondering secretly, if it really could enter this new territory with just a small step more, whether it might extend the creative period a little, turning some roughly planned plots into climaxes, slightly prolonging the work’s life span.

Of course, that depends on readers’ opinions, for without enough subscriptions, the gap to becoming an elite is too vast; extending too long disrupts the plot outline, and after reaching the later stages of invincibility, it’s impossible to create ever stronger enemies to suppress the protagonist indefinitely, which is a principle in Bai Lu’s work creation, thus can only infinitely write thrillers to pad word count.

Even though this is one essence of sensations, the fundamental intent of this work was not in alignment, and it’s not encouraged.

So, this will depend on readers’ decisions; readers on Qidian Chinese Network who receive Godlight, feel free to express your thoughts, and Bai Lu will make decisions based on subscription results.

Uh, this isn’t implying those without Godlight have no say, just that Bai Lu regards the potential readers who could promote the work to reach an elite level as reference objects for opinion.
