A Sorcerer’s Journey

Chapter 382: Celestial Devotion?

“Little Myna, what happened to me in the Heart of the World?”

Grimm asked Myna as he stood up and put away the five hundred Sorcerer Essence that was rewarded to him. Clearly, he could not remember what had happened.

Myna was carefully wiping his wings with a white handkerchief when Grimm appeared, side-eyeing him spitefully. He said, “Do you really remember nothing Young Master?”

“Uhm? What? Did something really happen in the Heart of the World?” Grimm asked, somewhat stunned.

“Young Master, I’ve been wiping up your drool for an entire day! You shouted Lefay’s name 95 times in your sleep!”

Hearing this, Grimm rubbed the edges of his mouth. Did he really fall asleep?

That warm feeling reminded him of having a childhood’s sweet dream.

Condensing the numerous Sorcerer Essence into a single bunch, Grimm kept them into a dimensional gap before sighing softly. “Lefay is the love of my life, after all. If I really did fall asleep just now, shouting her name 95 times would be normal…”

“But!”

Myna shouted, feathers bristling like a cat that had its tail stepped on. He looked at Grimm with puppy eyes, “But Young Master, you muttered Leafie’s name 785 times!”

“Leafie?”

Grimm was truly shocked this time. Why would he mutter that parrot’s name?

Myna had a tear in his eye saying, “Young Master, you haven’t taken a liking for that crude, hateful parrot have you?”

“That’s impossible!”

Grimm outright refuted. Myna’s deduction was too absurd.

But then again, if what he said was true, then why would he have shouted the name Leafie so many times? He really had no recollection of the parrot whatsoever. Could it be someone else?

Besides the parrot, he had never met any sorcerer or any being bearing the name Leafie.

And…

He shouted her name in such a mysterious place; the heart of the sorcery world. When he had become an official sorcerer he had discovered that there was something off about that place. Was there really a secret to that place?

He let his mind wander as he tried to comfort Myna. At the same time, he worked on the third project on the Mask of Truth, the Eagle’s Eye.

Unlike the Celestial Cordillera that descended directly into the Black Sea from the Seven-Rings world, it had to transverse the vast Jewel Sea to return to the Seven-Rings Holy Tower area on the sorcerer continent. Even if it were the lord of the world, it would have taken a considerably long time.

Four months later.

As the faraway sorcerer continent gradually rose over the horizon, Grimm left the Third Du Castle, leaving the Celestial Cordillera undisturbed in its slumber.

He sighed softly.

This trip to get a Rank-1 Demon Hunter Honor Badge had turned out a lot differently than he expected.

Although he would be able to gain a lot of respect from now on, and even though he had an extra reward of five hundred Sorcerer Essence as an added reward for his Rank-1 demon-hunting mission… his sorcerer barrier hadn’t gotten any stronger!

This fell short of Grimm’s expectations.

Back when he first ascended to the rank of an official sorcerer, he only received a meager amount of fragments of the Heart of the World, but his sorcerer barrier had thickened by a few hundred times. Compare that to now, however, when he had gotten so many of them…

“Is this what the stigmata sorcerers and world guardians meant when they said that it converted the attention of the Principal Will of the world?”

Taking a wild guess, he took out his Starfall Reconnaissance Craft from the dimensional gap, opened the hatch, and entered it under the chilling laughter of the Bloodlust Doll. With a whoosh, he flew into the distance.

“Young master, where are we now? How long before we find your master at the Black Isotta Academy?”

Grimm thought for a while and answered, “We’re probably at Area Sixteen.”

Vermilion Ridge Plains.

This was one of the natural reserves of the sorcerer world.

On the sorcerer continent, at least half of its surface was riddled with all sorts of celestial-craters and stigmata craters. Holy towers would often be chosen to be built in places with relatively fewer craters, but since the area was so large, it was to be expected that some places would still have a few of these craters.

The lives of normal human beings were far too fragile when compared to beings from foreign worlds. Even common wild beasts and creatures from the sorcerer world like Sirens were leagues stronger than them.

Even with his limited wisdom, he realized the weak points of the sorcerer world.

Regardless of the sorcerer civilization being strong or not, it still suffered a large flaw.

That flaw was the life of normal human beings!

Even with weak small worlds like the shadow world, Amonros were stronger than an average human by about two to five times, a large difference in strength.

If the sorcerer’s world did not have enough regular humans to continue the sorcerer civilization, then the only fate waiting for the sorcerer civilization was to slowly fade into obscurity with time. This was one of the biggest hindrances for the growth of the sorcerer civilization.

The sorcerer civilization could only pillage endlessly, or even enact strict laws in foreign worlds with their strong influence, but they would never be able to take over and increase their living space forcefully.

That was because the fragile human life could only withstand the gentle environment provided by the sorcerer’s world, and could only continue to develop and grow under the protection of sorcerers.

During the Second Civilization War, the first generation of ancient humans was almost wiped out.

The regular humans that existed today were merely a new species that had just started to develop and grow. As the population of humans increased, the problem of having so many craters on the continent because more and more serious.

These celestial-craters and stigmata craters took up half the surface of the sorcerer continent!

For a regular human, this was enough to pose a great threat.

Stigmata craters were not that bad. Even though they were extremely unsuited for human growth, these craters could still be considered large deserts. They could even be used to obtain precious resources for sorcerer academies!

On the other hand, celestial-craters were always a great threat even to an official sorcerer.

To Grimm’s knowledge, just like stigmata sorcerers having to have the acknowledgment of the Principal Will of the sorcerer’s world, there was also condition that a Celestial Sorcerer definitely had to fulfill!

To become a Grand Celestial Sorcerer, the sorcerer must have contributed greatly to mankind!

Even Black Isotta from the Black Domain contributed greatly to mankind during the ancient war between humans and the oceanic race. This enabled him to ascend to a higher level.

As for the other Celestial Sorcerers, Grimm only knew about the Light and Dark Demon Hunter Development Curriculum coined by the Seven-Rings Grand Celestial Sorcerer.

As for the Six-Rings Grand Celestial Sorcerers, Grimm was familiar with one of his contributions. It was the Natural Habitat Preservation Plan proposed by him after the Second Civilization War.

In this plan,

Voidships would station themselves in places with active ecosystems according to the will of the Holy Tower. This was done to protect these areas. Then, sorcerers would channel that will to slowly cover the stigmata craters, contributing to recovering the environment until it was suitable for human life.

The great plan that he proposed had something to do with channeling the sorcerer’s will!

Although he did not know when this plan was coined, Grimm couldn’t help but admire the foresight and wisdom of those great Celestial Sorcerers.

To think of the sorcerer world’s development so far into the future while it was still in shambles was something an ordinary sorcerer like Grimm would never be able to do.

In the years that passed, the effect this plan had on celestial-craters wasn’t noticeable, but many stigmata craters had already disappeared!

It was so effective that some humans living in the basin lands did not even know that their homes were built on former stigmata craters.

On the voidship flying over the Vermilion Ridge Plains.

After completing his research plans, Trilhas came to the ship’s observation room to rotate shifts with another devotee.

The room was filled with the aroma of coffee, but to someone who had been drinking coffee for thousands of years, the scent was already an everyday affair.

“In this period of time, three Arcane Sorcerers have passed here. I gave a warning to one which tried to collect a three-tailed swallow.”

The young sorcerer in the observation room stood up and walked out, speaking calmly.

“Alright.”

Trilhas sat on the observation deck and threw a red apple to the golden-haired monkey on the table before he started his boring everyday statistical duties, occasionally checking on the large sensory crystal ball in the room.

Time trickled by slowly.

Suddenly, the large sensory crystal ball let out a pulse of energy, causing Trilhas to look up before widening his eyes in shock.

He exclaimed, “A Rank-1 Honor Badge Demon Hunter? What is such a strong presence doing here?”

On the crystal ball, a bright and large dot was approaching the coordinates of the voidship at high speed.

He did not have any time to spare. A Rank-1 Honor Badge Demon Hunter was someone who could change the outcome of a demon hunting crusade.

During the crusade, their positions, according to the Holy Tower were the same as stigmata sorcerers, and even higher than a fortress command center!

They couldn’t be directly commanded by the fortress command center, and they could even set missions for hundreds of thousands of demon hunters.

Click!

The hatch of the black Starfall Reconnaissance Craft opened up.

A sorcerer wearing a gray spiral mask appeared with a rainbow feathered parrot perched on his shoulder. He requested, “Devotee, tell me the specific coordinates of this place.”
