Immortal Blood!

Chen Jie’s eyes lit up as he saw those three floating droplets of blood. What puzzled him was, this was clearly a dragon’s lair, so why were there human things here?

Look at that table, and the chair, they are obviously human artifacts. Could it be that humans once resided here beneath the sea?

Chen Jie wondered, a ridiculous thought surfaced in his mind—could this be the legendary Immortal Cave Mansion?

And the flood dragon is merely the Mountain Guardian Beast employed by the immortal?

Chen Jie’s thoughts twisted and turned in his mind. As he looked at the Immortal Blood before him, he decided to ignore everything else for the moment and focus on retrieving the Immortal Blood.

Outside stood the Siamese State Preceptor Ba Song, and the flood dragon could return at any time. If Ba Song or the flood dragon were to seal this cave, the consequences would be undoubtedly thrilling. Understanding this made Chen Jie swim straight to the table.

Only upon reaching the table did Chen Jie discover that behind it was a stone door, ajar with a crack in the middle. But merely the power emanating from that crack was enough to terrify Chen Jie.

It was a kind of powerful force Chen Jie had never encountered before, instinctively making him feel fear. Or rather, it was a terrifying suppression on a biological level.

It felt as if behind this door lay a deity left over from the Ancient Times.

At this moment, Chen Jie dared not glance too much at what lay beyond the door, suppressing his fear as he reached out directly to the three drops of Immortal Blood on the table.

This was what Chen Jie came here for, and what lay beyond the door, be it an immortal or a monster, was irrelevant to Chen Jie and did not affect the purpose of his visit—as long as it was something not to be provoked.

Chen Jie gave it a definition: this door hides a great terror that cannot be provoked or observed. Although Chen Jie was a person of deep curiosity, he mastered restraint. Since it cannot be investigated, why not simply leave it alone?

Having figured this out, Chen Jie focused on the three floating drops of blood on the table—it was peculiar how they clustered together without scattering. If examined closely, strands of golden light could even be seen emanating from within the droplets.

Seeing this, Chen Jie was even more intrigued by the power contained in the blood he saw before him. After observing for a while, he discovered no apparent danger.

At this, Chen Jie reached out directly to touch the blood before him.

Buzz!

As soon as his hand touched the blood, he suddenly felt a buzz. The whole world around him plunged him into chaos.

The next moment, a vast ocean appeared before Chen Jie, and amidst this ocean lay a small island country. The country was small, with almost its entire population comprised of fishermen, among whom stood a rebellious boy.

This boy had never been content to be just a fisherman. He always asked those around him—what is the purpose of life? Is it truly to remain forever a fisherman?

Is the dream of life simply to become a fisherman?

Merely to become a fisherman?

Because of his peculiar demeanor, people around him gave him the nickname Ah Dai!

It meant this person was silly and dull, unwilling to fish properly and always pondering frivolous questions. But it was this very Ah Dai who, during a storm, met a person who could walk on the sea.

Ah Dai was amazed and asked that person in his typical manner—what is the purpose of life?

The stranger heard Ah Dai’s words and smiled, saying: ”Living is naturally to cultivate and become an immortal!”

”Cultivate and become immortal?”

During the storm, Ah Dai glimpsed a ray of hope, and so, when the skies cleared the next day, he set out alone on his small fishing boat in search of immortality.

No one knew how long it took, nor how many mountains and waters he traversed or how many hardships he endured.

Ah Dai cultivated abilities that reached from Heaven to Earth and even achieved Earthly Immortal status, yet he found himself lost once more, unsure of the path ahead.

In his deepest perplexity, he encountered a child in the village—barefoot, the child dashed across the island to catch fish.

So he descended to ask the child: ”Child, what do you think immortals pursue?”

After pondering the question for a long time, the child replied: ”Immortals surely lack for nothing; they aren’t bothered by worldly worries. Longevity and immortality are given for immortals, leaving nothing else to pursue but the dao.”

”Book storytellers all claim this; immortals aim to pursue the great dao, though no one knows what the dao truly is.”

Hearing this, Ah Dai was enlightened and sat cross-legged on the sea—between heaven and earth, storms and thunder one side, clear skies and sunshine the other.

Wind, frost, rain, dew—all manifestations of Nature—what is the dao?

Thus sat Ah Dai upon the vast ocean, his eyes seemingly piercing through countless realms of space and time, until those once confused eyes settled upon Chen Jie.

Buzz!

Chen Jie felt as though his spirit was hit by the power of Heaven and Earth, leaving him dumbstruck, completely overwhelmed by the majestic forces—it left him bewildered.

Rooted to the spot, utterly dazed, his eyes filled with confusion.

The dao!

What is the dao!

Chen Jie was trapped by this question, trapped within his own Sea of Consciousness. This is the most terrifying aspect of Immortal Blood—without a deep understanding of the dao, one risks losing oneself amidst the vast cosmos, which is the frightening core of Immortal Blood.
