Daily Intelligence System: Don't Kill Me, Honey!

Just recently married Zhao Ya, and yet had to set sail, which indeed felt quite rushed.

Thus, after a day had passed, Zhu Chongba found Chen Jiusi to bid farewell, for he was about to leave.

Chen Jie looked at Zhu Chongba in surprise and said, ”Brother Chongba, won’t you stay for a few more days?”

Zhu Chongba replied, ”I truly have matters in Haozhou, otherwise I would indeed like to stay a few more days.”

Chen Jie said, ”Then I won’t see Brother Chongba off.”

”Good, then I take my leave. The mountains are high and the roads are long, until we meet again!”

Zhu Chongba said with clasped fists, and after exchanging some pleasantries, Zhu Chongba turned around and departed.

Outside, Tang He looked at Zhu Chongba puzzled and asked, ”Big brother, why are we leaving in such a hurry?”

Zhu Chongba replied, ”My master informed me that the monks from Shaolin heading towards Tianzhu reported sightings of the Innate Dao Fruit in the highland regions, we need to make a trip there.”

Upon hearing this, Tang He said, ”We must hurry then, if this news spreads, I’m afraid we won’t have a chance.”

Zhu Chongba said, ”Indeed, let’s go, quick and decisive, we cannot afford delays!”

With that, the group headed directly towards Tianzhu.

Now, as the world is on the verge of great change, everyone is trying to make themselves stronger, not only Chen Jiusi, Zhu Chongba, but many others are exhausting every method to become stronger!

Waiting for the final great shift in the world, to gather the winds and clouds again, and select the final king.

Thus, Zhu Chongba dispatched people to send off Li Shanchang and Ma Xiuying, leaving only him and Tang He headed directly to the highland regions, which won’t be an easy journey and will likely take some time.

Meanwhile, after sending off Zhu Chongba, Chen Jie stayed home with Zhao Ya. Not long after their marriage, he was about to set out on a distant journey, and he felt he owed Zhao Ya a lot for this.

But Zhao Ya was quite generous, directly saying: ”A true man, his ambitions lie in all directions.”

Thus, she sent Chen Jie away. Chen Jie, seeing Zhao Ya’s kindness and generosity, felt deeply moved. Zhao Ya thought she had nothing much to do and asked Chen Jie if she could manage an army.

Chen Jie thought for a bit and decided to allow Zhao Ya to counsel on military affairs. She could participate in the military planning of Huangzhou Prefecture, though her authority was limited.

Chen Jie granted Zhao Ya the power to recruit soldiers herself and form the fifth legion of Huangzhou Prefecture, Qilin!

Chen Jie’s Huangzhou Prefecture currently has four legions, each one numbering between ten thousand and fifteen thousand, all belonging to the elite.

The First Legion, White Tiger Army, is Chen Jie’s foundation in Mianshui County, commanded by Chen Xiaohu.

The Second Legion, Azure Dragon Army, the foundation of Huangzhou Prefecture, commanded by Jin Yanzi.

The Third Legion, Vermilion Bird Army, composed of Jianghu people from Xianning Prefecture and four other prefectures, commanded by Shi Gengming, the Soul-Rending Spear.

The Fourth Legion, Black Tortoise Army, is not yet fully formed, only in outline, with the commander chosen by Chen Jie being Du Xiong.

Finally, Chen Jie is preparing to gradually form the fifth legion, Qilin, which he plans to arrange for Zhao Ya to command.

Zhao Ya, although the wife of the city lord, possesses an innate base stronger than all the commanders in Huangzhou Prefecture.

It must be known that Zhao Ya’s military talents are not far less than Wang Baobao’s, moreover, she grew up in the White Deer Army, has a deeper understanding of military formations, and even understands the Wu Mu’s Legacy passed onto her by Chen Jie.

One could say her military capabilities are extraordinarily strong.

If she were a man, she surely would have been a fierce general commanding a region, but even as a woman it didn’t matter, Chen Jie allowed her to fulfill her dreams.

Therefore, Chen Jie, in his capacity as City Lord of Huangzhou Prefecture, issued an order to Zhao Ya, permitting her to establish a legion, named Qilin, fully staffed at ten thousand men.

And Zhao Ya expressed her thoughts, she wanted to train a heavy cavalry.

Heavy cavalry, this is rare on battlefields, for the requirements are incredibly strict; it must be known that heavy cavalry needs heavy armor, and a set of heavy armor alone costs nearly hundred taels, with an entire complement of ten thousand heavy cavalry, just the armor would require nearly hundred silver taels.

Moreover, besides armor, think about it, a person with heavy equipment needs a horse that can bear such weight, and the horse cannot be unarmored either, it also needs heavy armor.

With so much weight, the horse absolutely cannot be an ordinary warhorse.

A warhorse like this, selling for one to two hundred taels is not excessive, thus averaging a single heavy cavalry costs between eight hundred to one thousand taels.

If it’s to raise ten thousand heavy cavalry, it requires eight million to ten million silver taels, such a figure is terrifying enough for anyone.

No court’s finances can support the expense of raising ten thousand heavy cavalry, Zhao Ya’s idea undoubtedly seemed quite fantastical.

Yet Zhao Ya looked at Chen Jie and said, ”I can use my dowry to fill these expenses, after all, I have nowhere to spend money now and that’s over a million silver taels annually, I need to find a way to spend it.”

Chen Jie, upon hearing Zhao Ya’s idea, thought for a moment and replied, ”Alright, since you have such thoughts, I won’t say more, but ten thousand is too many, I’ll allow up to two thousand men.”

”Two thousand heavy cavalry are enough, on the battlefield, these two thousand heavy cavalry are sufficient to destroy any enemy formation, indeed when these two thousand move, the enemy forces might crumble like paper people.”
