Daily Intelligence System: Don't Kill Me, Honey!

Seeing that Chen Jie actually used the Seventeen Dragon Capturing Palms to engage with him, Master Kong Wen said, ”Seventeen Dragon Capturing Palms? Do you know the origin of this Seventeen Dragon Capturing Palms?”

Chen Jie said, ”I know a little about it.”

Kong Wen said, ”Then, let’s hear it.”

Chen Jie replied, ”This Seventeen Dragon Capturing Palms originally came from Shaolin’s Dragon Capturing Palm. Later it was learned by Song’s Beggar Sect Guild Leader Qiao. Due to its fusion with the Beggar Sect’s Dragon Subduing Palm, the Dragon Capturing Twenty-Eight Palm was created. Later, Guild Leader Qiao died at the hands of the Qidan people while saving Great Song, but before dying, he passed the Dragon Capturing Twenty-Eight Palm to the Master of the Piaomiao Peak in the Western Regions, who simplified and refined it into the Seventeen Palms.”

”After several changes, the Master of the Piaomiao Peak returned to the Central Plains and chose an exceptionally loyal beggar in the Beggar Sect, Hong Qi, to whom he imparted these Seventeen Palms. Hong Qi earned the reputation of the Five Extremes with them, and later passed these Seventeen Dragon Capturing Palms to Guo Juxia guarding Xiangyang, gaining world renown.”

”Later, when Meng Yuan invaded and Xiangyang City fell, this Seventeen Dragon Capturing Palms spread across the land. Only the Witch Clan of Wushan, who had helped Guo Juxia back then, was taught the complete version of these Seventeen Dragon Capturing Palms.”

”And it is from there that my Seventeen Dragon Capturing Palms are inherited. If one examines it closely, these Seventeen Dragon Capturing Palms can also be considered Shaolin Kung Fu.”

Chen Jie looked at Master Kong Wen and said, ”I wonder if I am correct, Master?”

Upon hearing this, Master Kong Wen gently nodded and said, ”There are no falsehoods! Indeed, this Seventeen Dragon Capturing Palms does incorporate Shaolin’s Dragon Capturing Skill, but it also includes the Beggar Sect’s Dragon Subduing Skill. Claiming it originates from Shaolin isn’t entirely wrong. However, Mr. Chen, would you like to see the authentic Dragon Capturing Skill?”

Saying this, Kong Wen’s fingers slowly converged in the air, and he then shaped his hand into a claw, lunging towards Chen Jie.

The Dragon Capturing Skill is one of Shaolin’s seventy-two ultimate skills. As the Shaolin Abbot, and seldom venturing in Jianghu, Master Kong Wen spends his leisure time studying these seventy-two ultimate skills.

At this point, Master Kong Wen employed the Dragon Capturing Skill from the seventy-two ultimate skills, approaching Chen Jie and directly using the Dragon Capturing Skill to subdue him.

Witnessing this, Chen Jie was slightly startled, yet didn’t remain passive. He directly executed Dragon Fighting in the Wilderness from the Seventeen Dragon Capturing Palms. Dragon Fighting in the Wilderness was the first Cultivation Technique Chen Jie acquired. It doesn’t excel in offensive power, nor is its defense strong; it is not flexible nor cunning but is a straightforward move, though not very powerful, it is very balanced, making it the most averaged move in Seventeen Dragon Capturing Palms.

At this moment, Chen Jie manipulated the Seventeen Dragon Capturing Palms in his hand, attacking Kong Wen with every move.

Meanwhile, Master Kong Wen directly deployed the Dragon Capturing Skill, with every move and style being very powerful, containing plenty of the essence of the Seventeen Dragon Capturing Palms.

Now, Master Kong Wen drew closer to Chen Jie, directly unleashed the Dragon Capturing Skill, allowing Chen Jie to witness the formidable power of this Shaolin Dragon Capturing for the first time.

Cloud-piercing Style, body gracefully maneuvering like a dragon traversing through clouds.

Breaking Mist Style, Inner Strength permeating both claws, breaking through the enemy’s defense, directly targeting the vital points.

Mountain Pushing Style, vigorous and dominant, reminded Chen Jie of Crossing the River.

Stirring Sea Style, Sky Opening Style, Earth Breaking Style, Dragon Swallowing Style...

A total of thirty-six moves, striking like shadows, forcing Chen Jie to retreat step by step. It must be said that this Shaolin Dragon Capturing Skill indeed possesses two tricks, worthy as one of Shaolin’s seventy-two skills.

Of course, this was also because Chen Jie didn’t attempt to resist strongly. Although Master Kong Wen applied significant pressure, Chen Jie felt capable of beating him, but since this man was a Taishan Beidou of the Martial Arts, face had to be given.

Therefore, he let him finish executing this Dragon Capturing Skill before talking, and he also wanted to witness what this Dragon Capturing Skill was like. When Guild Leader Qiao combined the Dragon Capturing Skill with Dragon Subduing Skill to create the Seventeen Dragon Capturing Palms, though learned from ancient to modern, when reformulating it, some moves were modified according to his habits, more fitting Guild Leader Qiao’s physique at that time.

However, later practitioners often had their own distinct conditions. For instance, Guild Leader Qiao was tall and sturdy with Qidan blood, thus more adept at powerful and robust moves, whereas Chen Jie was different. As such, the Seventeen Dragon Capturing Palms became his conventional method of use.

Yet, some moves didn’t fit well anymore, prompting Chen Jie to adjust them bit by bit. After viewing this complete Dragon Capturing Skill, he felt greatly benefitted, clarifying many previously incomprehensible parts, aiding significantly in Chen Jie’s future improvement of the Seventeen Dragon Capturing Palms.

After finishing this set of Dragon Capturing Skills, Master Kong Wen looked at Chen Jie and asked, ”Chen Jiusi, how about my Dragon Capturing Skill?”

Chen Jie said, ”Magnificent and grand, impressive indeed.”

Master Kong Wen said, ”I know you are discontented, but in Shaolin, we not only have this Dragon Capturing Skill, it’s merely one out of the seventy-two ultimate skills we possess.”

”Next, watch my Arhat Fist!”

With a roaring shout, Master Kong Wen took the lead, directly using Arhat Fist, one of the thirty external skills from Shaolin’s seventy-two ultimate skills. He punched toward Chen Jie’s face, and Chen Jie faintly heard chants of Buddha in the air.

This punch seemed simple, but internally contained extremely strong Internal Cultivation Methods of Shaolin, the punch wind like thunderous might, raising a gust of strong wind, as Chen Jie seemed to hear the angry rebuke of an Arhat: Ha!

Shaking the soul, seeing this Chen Jie neither dodged nor evaded, launched his right palm, immediately a dragon roar resounded [Dragon in the Field], two masses of Vigorous Qi collided, kicking up a plume of dust.
