A-List Actress: Paper Marriage but Pampering Billionaire

Chapter 445: Chapter 445: She is unhappy that he is dining with another woman!

On the way, Jiang Jingheng asked Mu Yan about some things in the Mu Family.

He had arranged for people to protect Mu Chen in the hospital, so he knew the Mu Family had caused a commotion there.

But seeing that she didn’t suffer any losses, he didn’t ask much at the time.

Now, it seemed things weren’t that simple.

Mu Yan didn’t intend to hide anything.

”Mu Chen’s father has two brothers. I moved into the Mu Family with my mom when she remarried. Their families don’t really like us; they think my mom is here to swindle Uncle Mu’s money.

When Uncle Mu was around, they could only say mean things to belittle us. But after he passed away, they came to fight for Mu Chen’s guardianship and Uncle Mu’s house.

At that time, Mu Chen was young, grieving over his father’s death, and was manipulated by them. He thought my mom really coveted Uncle Mu’s money and wanted to abandon him, so he insisted on living with his uncle and aunt.

My mom had no choice but to give him to the Mu Family, as for the house, she never planned to keep it.

But who knew that after those people got the house, they ignored Mu Chen, not even buying him medicine. If it weren’t for the neighbors notifying us, Mu Chen might have already died.”

Mentioning these things made Mu Yan extremely disgusted with the Mu Family.

After all, Mu Chen was their flesh and blood too. How could they be so heartless? Moreover, they were using the money left by Mu Chen’s father.

Jiang Jingheng wasn’t particularly concerned about Mu Chen’s wellbeing, he asked, ”They didn’t really bully you?”

Mu Yan’s eyes flickered as she said, ”I’m not that easy to bully.”

”Then what about that cousin of his?”

Mu Yan’s brow furrowed, her disdain clear, ”He’s a complete societal scumbag, drinking, gambling, womanizing, you name it.”

Jiang Jingheng gave her a glance. She rarely showed this kind of expression, so she must really dislike that person.

He thought of something and asked, ”How did you bump into Ning Shishen today?”

Mu Yan didn’t hide it at lunch, she and Ning Shishen had lunch together.

”We coincidentally went to the same art exhibition and met there,” Mu Yan replied.

She thought of how Ning Shishen was so persistent about that sunflower painting today. If she could still paint, maybe they could become good friends.

After all, it’s hard to find a soulmate!

”Next time, don’t have lunch with him.”

”Hmm?” Mu Yan looked at him, surprised.

Jiang Jingheng met her gaze seriously, ”I’d get jealous!”

Mu Yan chuckled, ”Why would you be jealous, it’s just a meal.”

Jiang Jingheng raised an eyebrow, ”Fine, I’ll have lunch with a woman tomorrow.”

Mu Yan’s brow furrowed slightly, ”Don’t you dare!”

Seeing his teasing expression, she pursed her lips. Okay, she got it.

Don’t do unto others what you don’t want done unto you!

She thought of the news she learned from Ning Shishen today, feeling a bit heavy-hearted.

She cautiously asked, ”Did you resolve your engagement with Zhao Xiyue?”

”Almost,” Jiang Jingheng said nonchalantly.

”Hmm.” Mu Yan nodded, not asking further.

Because no matter how much she asked, she couldn’t help him.

After arriving back at the villa, Mu Yan went to take a bath.

Jiang Jingheng took his phone downstairs to make a call.

”Investigate everyone in the Mu Family, especially that Mu Shijun.”

He hung up the phone and was about to go upstairs when the phone rang; it was Yin Manqing calling.

He frowned slightly and answered.

Yin Manqing’s cold, angry voice came through, ”Why aren’t you announcing your engagement to Xiyue? What are you up to?”

Jiang Jingheng’s expression was indifferent: ”Because once the engagement is announced, I’d have to announce the cancellation afterwards, too bothersome.”

With that, he hung up the phone and walked upstairs.
