A-List Actress: Paper Marriage but Pampering Billionaire

Chapter 116: Chapter 116: The Crew Is Quite Chaotic

Mu Yan’s current web series project is a time travel story called ”Doted Princess.” The female lead, a gourmet, transmigrates into the body of the Fourth Princess of Dragon Country. The Fourth Prince keeps a low profile, convinced that the female lead is a pawn placed by her family to spy on him, and is therefore quite cold to her.

However, the female lead is carefree and loves all kinds of pleasures, especially skilled in cooking. She eventually wins over the Fourth Prince’s heart with her culinary delights, stands by him as they face external enemies together, and in the end, the Fourth Prince conquers the kingdom. She becomes his one and only, and lives a happy life.

Mu Yan found this kind of ’Mary Sue’ script quite amusing.

Given it’s a web series, the production budget was definitely not high. But Mu Yan didn’t expect it to be this rudimentary. As the female lead, she only had three outfits: one for sleeping, one for the court, and one for casual wear.

And the crucial point: those three outfits weren’t of great quality.

The director was a young man, who admired Song Cheng’an tremendously.

As soon as he arrived on set, he engaged Song Cheng’an in a lengthy chat full of pleasantries, making Mu Yan feel like she was a third wheel standing aside.

She glanced at Song Cheng’an. She didn’t see any woman around Brother Song, could it be...

Song Cheng’an noticed her gaze and shivered slightly, feeling that she wasn’t thinking anything good.

In any case, after they exchanged pleasantries, the director finally remembered Mu Yan.

He looked Mu Yan up and down, ”I saw your acting in the MV, Miss Mu. I’m confident you’ll do well in this series.”

Mu Yan nodded slightly, ”Thank you, Director. I’ll do my best.”

Once shooting started, Mu Yan realized just how much the director trusted her.

From the beginning to the end, she never had an NG.

It wasn’t that she thought her acting was great; rather, she felt this director didn’t have any requests.

Not only with her, but he was also the same with the other actors.

Mu Yan felt a bit of subtle sadness, but she couldn’t exactly point at the director and blame him for not being serious about directing.

She called Song Cheng’an to talk about it. Being a newcomer with no experience, she could only ask a senior.

Over the phone, Song Cheng’an paused for a moment, then said, ”What do you think of the script?”

Mu Yan replied honestly, ”I feel this script is quite good, it’s a popular theme nowadays.”

”Many web series are like fast food now, eaten and then discarded, so directors don’t expect them to become classics and naturally aren’t as attentive during filming. Not every director is Chen Zhou, and you’re not Xiang Lanqiu yet. You don’t have the right to speak out. Just act your part well and don’t overthink it.”

Mu Yan felt a bit of a burning sensation on her face and said, ”Brother Song, I understand.”

She also realized that her mind hadn’t been particularly focused these past two days, nearly forgetting the basic professionalism of an actor.

”As long as you understand, don’t always think about NG. A good actor aims for a one-take. Keep it up.”

”Okay,” Mu Yan nodded.

She hung up the phone, took a deep breath, and continued reading the script.

The next day, while filming, the director observed Mu Yan’s performance through the camera, and a hint of surprise flashed in his eyes. This newcomer seemed a bit different today.

In a way, she was increasingly getting into the character.

With limited funds and expensive location rental fees, the filming period was shortened as much as possible, so even when he saw the actors awkwardly performing, he was helpless.

Up until now, he himself felt utterly hopeless.

There’s no other way—poverty. Hopefully, they can recoup some costs in the end.

It’s just a pity this young lady joined such a struggling crew.
